Can't speak for the last two but XII came out 7 years ago, started development in 2001 under Sakaguchi Squaresoft supervision and was headlined by two of their very best developers for 50% of its development.
I'd love to know this as well, I've been trying to replicate the emote in that gif with no success. I know it's from when there were betas with NDA and all, so who knows.
Someone was playing with the emotes, basically he used the /laugh emote and the some other emote for the serious part. Maybe you can't chain emotes anymore, Idk to be honest, but it was made famous when the XIV:ARR servers exploded on release.

And Agito never reached the West, so that can't really be counted as a positive either. Good to see that ARR seems to be pretty good for it's genre though.
Hang on a minute, leaving out the relationship nonsense,
FFX ends with Sin being destroyed forever, what with the reason for Sin existing being destroyed, no? So now..."lol Sin is back because"? Good god, you can't just make up a new threat to face?

I know, right? This is what X-2 excelled in. It respected its predecessor by being relatively mild plot-wise. With the sound of this, they are trying to be even more over the top than the original game, which is pretty ridiculous and unintelligent. That's the problem with many sequels, whose teams used the wrong tools (canonical importance, retcons, demoting previous events) to top the previous games.
It's a few months after the events of 10-2. Yuna and Tidus have been enjoying life together, but one day they were boat-wrecked during a storm and drifted to an unknown island. There, Yuna confronts the truth of the island.
...Well, I guess that island is the reason for Yuna's shut-in at Besaid. It seems to be an actual story, possibly bridging the gap between the end of 10-2 and the audio drama, I'm not too sure on the timeline.
That's a wrong assumption, they really are cheaper to make by a whole magnitude order. X-2 only had a precious few new models and for the XIII series, their lack of planning left them with tons of unused assets they could just pop back into sequels.
X-3 on mobile doesn't make sense to me when X and X-2 are on traditional gaming systems. If they want to follow up the story it'd make sense to make it for PS3/Vita if not PS4, especially when the remaster is on PS3/Vita.

The top-ranked review was a bit weird itself, which is why I didn't translate details from the reviews. The reviewer says there's sexual content of some sort in the novel and that's where his review got a little awkward.
The only major detail I got from skimming the reviews is that the readers feel quite sorry for Tidus after the novel. It seems the 'star-crossed lovers' part of the relationship will continue to play out in any following works.

Kinda reminds me of when people told me of Chewbacca dying in a Star Wars novel. This is probably why I don't read these extra expanded universe things. Regardless of its quality, it won't be the same as the original material...
Shouldn't the topic title be changed? I mean, it's a summary of the "Special Credits" audio drama included in the game, not of Final Fantasy X-2.5 (a novel released on the same day, set
sometime between Tidus reappearing at Besaid and the 100% ending scene at Zanarkand
The fayth are acting weird. What fayth normally show are memories or just images of dead people. However, at the Moonflow the traveling crew witness a fayth image respond to a child's question like a sentient being.
You know, something that's always bothered me is that the views on death in FFX never made sense.
In the real world, death is final. You can't come back from it. Ever. Supernaturally coming back from the dead would go against the very nature of this world; else dead people would be coming back all the time.
But in FFX, this is different. If you die, you can just stick around if you feel like it. Even if you go to the Farplane, you're living family can simply plan a family vacation there and have lunch with you. Yet, the views of death in the world of FFX seem to mirror the sensibilities of people in real life.
Sure, the dead can turn into monsters. But that's apparently because they're upset that they're dead. It's never explained why that is though, nor why the unsent have to be rejected by the living.
I think it would be interesting if FFX-3 properly addressed this. I think FFX-3 would never properly address this.
where Tidus dies a gruesome death shortly after his return and Yuna basically ends up resurrecting him
), and I think that's also where they're headed for this hypothetical "Final Fantasy X-3", based on the audio drama and Yuna's reaction at the Moonflow...
Mostly because Chuami hates Yevoners like Yuna (she blames them for her mother's death). She probably doesn't think praying does anything (but of course, Yuna would have her own reasons...).
I could be wrong, of course, but I doubt Sin's return will be the focus. I'm thinking it will be more about why Sin and all those dead people are back (and presumably how that relates to Tidus's current
I'd say: Final Fantasy X
-> Final Fantasy X The Eternal Calm
-> Final Fantasy X-2 up to the good ending
-> Final Fantasy X-2.5 The Eternal Price
-> the 100% ending of Final Fantasy X-2
-> the Special Credits audio drama (that's the one summarized in the OP, with Chuami and Kurgum)
-> Final Fantasy X-3?
I'm not sure where Final Fantasy X-2 Last Mission is supposed to fit exactly... It's supposedly set three months after Final Fantasy X-2, but is that before or after Final Fantasy X-2.5 The Eternal Price? Before or after the 100% ending of Final Fantasy X-2? It should all be roughly around the same time, but the tone is significantly darker in the novel, so it's hard to reconcile...

Something like that.
I seem to remember they (Nojima?) didn't really want to resurrect him to begin with, so they're probably toying with the idea that "things aren't that simple" and his current situation is unnatural (hence Yuna's reaction at the Moonflow, in the audio drama?).
This one is my bad, I wasn't familiar with the Japanese terminology and I also accidentally treated fayth and pyreflies as the same thing because of my foggy 10 memories.
That is actually addressed in the novel (

Is there something in the novel that suggests the 100% ending takes place after it? I thought the 100% ending took place before the novel and therefore Last Mission can also grab a spot between the 100% ending and the novel, where it seems like shit hits the fan.

Man... I have a Vita and was looking forward to these games again, but man this convoluted mess of a plot is really making me think otherwise. Might just wait till they drop in price. Phew I never realized they went on and toyed with these plots this much.
I don't have the book yet, so I'm going from various reports at the moment. I'm under the impression that scene at Zanarkand is referenced (at the end of the novel?), but it's not like I can actually confirm that myself.

That's also how I'd deal with all that... except the events of the novel seem to occur very shortly after the good ending at Besaid (as in, in the following days... (*)). So shit hits the fan very early on, and that makes things a bit awkward for Last Mission...
* Come to think of it, maybe that's the reason Japanese readers place the novel before the 100% ending? If it all happens immediately after the good ending, logically...
Final Fantasy X-2.5 is a novel. You're probably thinking of the audio drama that can be heard during the special credits (the one discussed in the OP), which is something else entirely.

I prefer 3) Play X and X-2 to the "normal" ending and don't even leave room for this fucked-up sounding stuff. I thought that ending was better anyway.

I'm so confused, is this really real? I can't get my head around it, after the events of X and X-2, we are meant to accept that Yuna and Tidus just broke up? There must be a better reason than the Twilight drama in the summary. I hope so, if not then I will pretend that this does not exist. What next, Final Fantasy VIII-2, Squall and Rinoa have split, even though Squall is her Knight and literally went to the moon and back for her? Just no.

Also, in the original draft for FFX Tidus was meant to be an Unsent rather than a dream of the Fayth, but the release of the film "The Sixth Sense" that had the same plot twist prompted Square to change their ideas. Tidus was rewritten as a dream and they gave the Unsent plot twist to Auron instead.
