Space Dandy 1 (10 minute preview)

I was going to wait till Saturday but since some people were posting impressions I didn't want to wait a week to see if they were on the ball or not (from my perspective of course).

I came away quite pleased. I wasn't rolling on the floor laughing but I had a big smile on my face for most of the preview and came away quite entertained. Dandy has SWAGGER and his JP VA is doing an EXCELLENT job. I'm hoping Sinclair can similarly knock it out of the park for the English dub. The show also doesn't seem to give a shit about the fourth wall :p I guess the only real critique I have is that the action sequence came to a start and end super quick. It didn't have much energy/point I felt and seemed more like an excuse just to have some sweet animation (and it was). Shame the preview had to cut away just as the main antagonist of the series showed up but that's why its called a preview :) Looking forward to seeing the rest in a week.

I hate to be the first one to say this but
I like the English voices for Space Dandy much better than the Japanese voices. I think they fit the characters better.

Lol I bet most people who will bash the dub. won't even give it a chance. Then when they get used to the sub., they'll say the dub. is trash.

Naruto episodes 70-82
The Naruto vs. Gaara and 3rd Hokage vs. Orochimaru fights were both good. I thought the Grim Reaper part dragged a bit though. The funeral scene was great.

Overall this arc was a lot better than I remember. I'm noticing a lot more foreshadowing this time around too.

They were able to show Bebop after Trigun because they were able to work out an one-time deal for the night.

I'm glad to see that guy who likes IGPX's characters... sometimes, I feel like the only person who sees the shows characters that way, ha.

If I wanted to troll them, I'd blast them with "Have you see my Sketch Dumps!?" and "...So which is your Favorite?!?", but I'd like to stay on their good side, ha.

Ooo, Bleach might get cut OP due to Space Dandy. It'd be... really weird to see cut OPs to Bleach, as long as it's had full OP on AS / Toonami.

Hasn't it been doing about the same at 3am as InuYasha does at 5am? I'm not sure what they're trying to prove. The move was because they thought clone wars would work better for kids who wake up early on sunday the way InuYasha does. If ratings improve for it at that time why move it back to a "dead spot" 3-5

Yeah, they speak as if there's a "Show OP Yes/No" Button or something. Maybe Episode 1 has a cold OP, and the actual thing appears later on? You'd think they'd have to have something edited and ready by now, for Dandy and Bleach.

A lot of recent anime show the op at the end of the first episode, the preview for space dandy had no OP it just showed the title and jumped into the episode.

That sounds like a great idea, wish we had the time or money for that!"

I really like the sound of that, especially for people who didn't see Toonami during the earlier years or before the revival.

They really need to get some unpaid interns at Toonami to do all that kind of neat stuff. Well, it's not like they get paid either. I guess what i'm saying is that they need to get more unpaid people.

Aye, I guess that might be what we get here. I wonder if any production considerations were made with it's US premiere in mind? (Such as overall airtime, shorter OP / ED by default, presence or lack of Eyecatches, etc..)
