PS4 leaking white stuff as well? (Pics inside)

It's pretty common actually, if you have a cold or allergy issues it's very helpful.

Well, is it that surprising that you're having vick's vaporub residue on your air-sucking appliances when you're filling the air in your home with gaseous vaporub 8 hours every day?

There's probably a very similar residue on all the other vented appliances in the same room. Hardly a PS4 issue, i'd imagine.

I think he just means the brand

as far as I know they just use water

You mix vaposteam into the water. It has medicinal ingredients. I think the residue in the ps4 is from this.

LOL, the humidifier we have is made for the Vicks Rub. Its not like we randomly put it in it for the hell of it. Like I said I have already moved it to a different room and I am not concerned at all over it. We have the ceiling fan that runs full blast and a box fan that runs full blast along with the humidifier so I'm sure the shit gets all over the room very easily.

And just for fun, I gave my wife some extra sauce the other night for buying that humidifier.

Edit: The only reason I posted pictures was because somebody else posted the same thing from Reddit and wanted to see if it was similar with mine.

If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like, there have been 10,000 faulty PS4's, or the PSN is terribly slow, nobody panics, because it's all "part of the plan". But when I say that one (ok maybe a couple) little NeoGAF user has a PS4 that sprays white shit, well then everyone loses their minds!

If this PS4 was leaking liquid from the rear vents, why would there be residue on the 'AUX' port for the PS Camera as well as the lower rim before the vents?

Surely if something was leaking out it would only come from the vents?

I am also one whom had no idea about the Vapour Rub on a humidifier but it reminded me of something.
I recently took apart my YLoD PS3 and used a can of compressed air to clean the layers of dust whilst tearing it down, and I noticed once the can was nearly 'empty' there was a liquid coming out that left a white residue similar to the pattern found in this image;

I'm not suggesting there is a link, but perhaps someone could shed some light on it. It is a strange occurrence and definitely something worth the discussion because it could be something serious. My PS4 looks fine but I will keep an eye on it. Mine is situated on a black glass shelf with sufficient space all around in, no humidifier/fans nearby but I will report here if it happens to mine.

Have you checked other appliances in the same room for residue? Chances are that the inside of all your tech is getting clogged up by that vaporub garbage in the air,

What does this mean? That you don't think the humidifier created the gunk or what?

I literally have one of those Vixks humidifiers and this shit does not work. It came with these Vicks white strips with Rub in them but I still can't breathe. Any help?

It's the humidifier. It's not the first time i've seen this before. It has happened to me with other electronics. Buy a moisture absorber and place it by your ps4. Also, stop putting Vicks rub into your humidifier, your going to damage your electronics.

70+ hours of hot Vicks in the air cooling down after evaporating all of its camphor oil off and leaving behind a lovely layer of petroleum jelly.

Or: I'm not saying it's jizz. But it's jizz.

And just for fun, I gave my wife some extra sauce the other night for buying that humidifier.

Did you scrape it off your PS4 and bag it up for her?

This. Leaks don't happen where there are no openings in the chassis.

One guy managing to fuck up his system does not a pandemic make. I'm also one of those cynical bastards who doesn't consider it a problem until it happens to my system.

the OP is running a humidifier 8 hours a day. this is pretty obviously from hard water and/or the vicks rub
why are we even still discussing this?
i mean, christ, look at the pictures. how could that possibly be from "leaking liquid"? that doesn't even make sense

I think it has something to do with humidity. I get that sort of film in my house on stacks of CDs. Humidity, heat, dust combination maybe.
