It tells you that even CPU bottle necked, the PS4 version will run at a higher frame rate.

If they are using GPGPU that's even less of a concern.

Technically the GPU should never be bottlenecked by the CPU on either console.
Assuming they don't use GPGPU because it's relatively new due to HSA being a new thing and developers still often developing single-threaded game engines even though we've had multicores for a long ass ime.

Can you expand on why and how the score of 14 per CPU (Core?) in the benchmark can be applied here?

I'm not trying to call you out or anything, just wanting to know the relevancy of that benchmark, because in my mind there can be hundreds of reasons why a game can break into the 20fps from 60fps.
If it was caused by the CPU, then a person on PC that runs the game at 60fps the majority of the time would have the game also break in, just not as severely. Right?

The differences shouldn't be this huge though. There'd obviously be a difference but so far the gap is bigger than between the 360 and PS3 (much bigger I'd say).

Yeah, double the framerate at the same resolution is larger than I would have anticipated. But it still did not blow me out of my chair. As I have already accepted that there will be some clear differences due to the fact that the PS4 is just plain more capable.

I Eagerly await these releases:

Watch Doge

The Witcher 3

Destiny

The Division

If a disparity this large hold true for the majority of these games, then Houston we have a much larger problem than we anticipated

I find it amusing how happy this news makes some of you. Every time there's a proPS4/negative Xbone story, this place turns into one giant circle jerk.

I think its more jubilation that we are getting more 60fps console games. At least on PS4 I mean.

That's a CPU benchmark....

Another Dev not putting effort in the Xbox One version? Color me surprised..... :/

Yeah because the Xbox One is so much harder to develop for than the PS4. Did they put in a cell processor when we weren't looking?

It has nothing to do with effort and everything to do with less capable hardware.

It sucks that the XB1 is so underpowered compared to the PS4, but really, most people won't notice or care. Consoles have beat their more powerful rivals several times in the past. The XB1 being less powerful will result in 30,000 less sales at the very most.

Tell me more about the scientific research you've done to come up with that number. Most of the "casuals" I know are very much aware that the PS4 is cheaper AND more powerful. Just because certain parts of the gaming market don't post on message boards doesn't mean they don't do any research before they buy a console. Most people look at the pros and cons of each before making a decision.

I think if anything, TressFX 2.0 being developed on consoles will help with further optimizations for future PC games using it.
Definitely, but hopefully that means it's not downgraded as a result! (But they do need to optimize it further, it looks prettier than 2.0 but its performance impact does not justify the extra graphics)

Why are so many of us convinced of that? I remember in the PS3's early years, multiplatform games were absolute shart for the system. But it improved over the years and toward the end, there was parity.

Why are we so sure the Xbox One won't make similar strides down the line?

And I'm not saying it will! I'm just curious.

I'm not sure why it would, the PS3 was a bizarrely designed machine that was difficult to develop for, and was for the most part on the same level as its rival give or take in certain areas. The One is clearly beaten in all aspects, the power gap appears to be fairly substantial, and it does not have the same kind of development issues. I don't think we saw any strides made by the PS2 when comparing it with Gamecube/Xbox multiplats, which is more like what we have here.

Have they done so while being cheaper and launching at the same time?

There's always been a price and launch difference but PS4 is cheaper and came out first.
I'm not saying the XB1 will "win" the "console war" or whatever. I'm just saying power differences don't always mean much to the general gaming public. I have a PS4 and probably won't buy an XB1 unless Halo 5 turns out to be good.

It's interesting to me that CDPR seems to think that the two versions will be basically identical.

Don't think we've heard much talk of the others though.

So stoked developers are no longer holding back their games with PS4, like they did with PS3's superior hardware.

I can foresee a future where developers say ps4 running at 60fps, xb1 30,as commonplace and it will just be accepted as truth.

well he says he is not paid to me just now, and I'll take him at his word. He got branded in the other thread for similar behavior in which he said he had no problem with the Machinima paid promotion and that he said he has an channel which is all Xbox anyway and doesn't see what's wrong with getting paid for that, and then someone linked to his twitter which made it look like a lot worse. But he says he's just a really passionate Xbox fan, so we'll leave it at that.

Yeah, I saw his posts in that thread, and the twitter post, but I didn't think he was being paid for that, just being a fanboy.

PC TressFX > PS4/X1 TressFX. >:]

Are you sure? Link? Also there's a lot more to the PS4 version than TressFX. There's new effects, new character designs redone textures etc. Unless there are terrible inconsistent frame rates it will be the best version.

How can you say it's poor optimization when the technically knowledgable people on here have been saying all along that there's a significant power gap?

i'm saying it could be poor optimization while recognizing the power difference. as someone who isnt a tech guy, its hard to know who to trust in regards to specs. the x1 is weaker then ps4 for sure, but by how much? i dunno. many people say expect what we see here, 30 vs 60 fps. others say it wont be a huge difference. i'm unable to distinguish who to trust over the other, so i've been leaning somewhere in between the two extremes. i could definitely be wrong.

Ooh, been a while since I've seen this terrible argument.

Because obviously the most powerful console has also reached the market at the same time and at a lower price than its competition before. -.-

I hope you are kidding! The 360 was just a better designed system for developers. PS3 had an inferior GPU and other bottlenecks that made it difficult to get decent performance out of. PS4 has better... everything, seemingly.

"Lazy developers" was bullshit with PS3, it was bullshit with Wii U, and now it's bullshit with Xbone.

Not really sure why either. Everyone has already known that the ps4 has better hardware. I think its funny that it makes people feel happy that the ps4 is stronger, at the end of the day its a game machine, not a way of life, or something that represents someone.

awww. its like you guys didn't catch all the threads with people saying this wouldn't happen because of ...[insert sad excuse here]..that went for pages and pages. Many good warriors gave up their accounts over it.

Now, of course, everyone isn't shocked, nor is it even worth discussing on Gaf. You are on a video game hobby website, with an account, that you waited for. People discuss their hobbies, and events. Why this is new or weird to you, is the only confusing thing.

hahahahahahahahahahahahah.

There has to be some corner of the internet where people aren't making fun of Microsoft. But its not here. Lemme know how it goes.

I don't know. Maybe it's the amazing online service that is Xbox Live. The innovative Kinect Sensor with its motion tracking and voice recognition capabilities. Or maybe its the slew of amazing first party and third party exclusives coming to console. I really don't understand it either......

IS THIS REAL LIFE?

I'll believe it when I see it. Remember ps4 cod:ghost was supposed to be 60fps at 1080P..
Turns out you needed a patch to make it 1080P. Unfortunately that patch didn't fix the framerate issues.

I expect ps4 TR to have the same framerate issue. I'll take balanced 30fps over inconsistent 60fps.

I would have agreed with you on XBL during the 360/PS3 era, but seriously PS+ is killing it and is much better than a XBL Gold sub.

Don't mistake me as participating in some silly console war rhetoric. I have no interest in who sells the most consoles. I said what I meant: the power difference between the XB1 and the PS4 won't mean much to the general public in the long run. Some people will know about it and it may affect their purchase, but there are many other factors that may sway peoples' wallets.

I think this will become quite common. Witcher 3, Destiny, Dragons Age 3, etc.

Funny thing is, I did not see a MASSIVE difference between the PS3/PS4 videos ... so seeing they had to make a compromise on the X1 version should speak volumes.

I guess I would care more if it was a new release. I feel like the ps4 version will be closer to 45fps most if the time anyway judging from the PC version.

40-60 fps is better then 30-45 fps. The xbox is unlocked too.

A game running on the Source Engine..? I don't think so. I expect 1080p and 60 fps on the XB1.

If anything, effects and such will be toned down compared to the PC version.

The fact that Respawn has not come out and said its native 1080p 6 weeks out from launch should be telling. Being on the source engine has nothing to do with it, it's not like they just replaced HL2 assets here.

Hey at least you can laugh at yourself, I think that's a great virtue.

But your post was funny because no console ever has been weaker and more expensive, that is until Xbox One came along. There many of us here who have been arguing this since E3.

Furthermore, difference of 30,000 between PS4 and Xbox One versions of multiplateform is something that we already see in UK alone. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong).
