"All Trump Voters Are Nazi Scum" (But Seriously Though...)

As is the norm these days, rather than meaningful discussion we end up with a shitload of hyperbole and hand-wringing. *sigh*

Let's have it straight. You can go nuts at Trump, but let's not forget Obama and the Democrats are 90% as bad. Obama still sent out drones to murder innocent people ("collateral damage"), and promoted the sort of income inequality that subjugates the people the Democrats claim to champion to a greater extent than any others.

Keep it up buddy.

There's some pretty strong exceptionalism right there.

Who won the most under his tenure? Rich white men. Don't forget that - the rhetoric might be different but the interests are the same. Is Trump worse? Sure. But don't pretend the Democrats represented a real alternative. After all, Obama is now more than happy to share the spoils of the people he boosted during his tenure, as Hillary did before him.

Lol what. Democrats did represent a real alternative, that won by 2% points nationally. If you don't see the difference between Trump and Obama or Clinton then yes you might be fine with a racist, Nazi loving scumbag in power.

If your granny voted for the same candidate endorsed by the former head of the KKK then yes, she is a racist.

If you're not a Nazi, but would vote for one due to economic anxiety, and chant the Nazi rhetoric at rallies, and not question ANYof the very Nazi things the Nazi says, does or proposes.

Then why the fuck would you feel offended if someone links you and your vote to Nazis?

It's like a male going to a male strip club and being outraged when someone suggests he just might be a little curious....

Like, just stop fucking lying to yourselves.

Maybe we should ask why it was so easy to misguide and mislead a huge portion of caucasians such as educated Caucasian women while groups like black women wouldn't touch him with a barge pole in general.

For me it comes down to this anyway:

If you can hear a person striking fear into the hearts of people with no power, bringing the KKK out of hiding and not feel like there's something wrong there, does it even matter if you're a Nazi or not?

People turning a blind eye to the nastiness a person like Trump can say or do or provoke a a much bigger issue than whatever the label we give to those who are complicit with the nastiness.

Infact, the acceptance that being complicit is fine as long as you can bargain with yourself or someone else that you're not X or Y label is the problem in the first place.

I think most of them are idiots.

I think some of them are racist.

I think a minority are Nazis.

I firmly believe majority were manipulated into believing Trump is capable of doing more than he is capable (or willing).

I don't think every one of them are awful people, but as someone already mentioned....

You support a racist candidate then you take ownership of all their racist policies, not just the ones you like.

I've made this analogy before, but if you're with someone who has cocaine out and the cops raid the place you're guilty by association.

I mean climate change is going to make the impact of drones or income inequality look trivial, and not only do the Republican leadership have no plan to do anything about it, they actively argue it doesn't exist.

This reads like Russian propaganda.

But anyways, no, the democrats aren't about to attack gay rights, the rights of women to an abortion, or endanger our very existence on this planet due to actively ignoring and even attempting to remove availability to climate change science.

Both sides are not the same. Democrats may not offer a world that's a bad place for wealthy, white men, but they're sure as hell not offering as sweet of a deal as the Republicans.

At best, you have drones. That's like 5% of the damage Republicans will do.

People voting for Trump are not all nazi's or racists or even dumb.

They are just manipulated into thinking Trump is a good choice. This is a larger issue in the world right now. People think they are being forced in to one side and defend that side even when they know/feel it's not correct. This is not just happening on the conservative side but also on the progressive parties.

1. You don't need to choose a side.
2. You can change your mind.
3. Don't trust anyone 100%, certainly not politicians.
4. Regarding politics, use your brain not your gut for decisions.
5. Stop being so afraid of everything. It's 2017 not 5000 BC.

This is a worldwide problem and the main reason why we have so many extremes again.

To make clear: I am entirely pro-choice, and have no religious convictions over the matter.

However, if I was very deeply religious, and genuinely believed that abortion was the murder of innocents, and knew that this was happening at a rate of about 900,000 a year while the government stood by and did nothing, then that would clearly be an overriding reason to vote for anyone who promised to prevent it, no matter how awful their other policies were (because there's very little that can outweigh somehow reducing the killing of 900,000 children a year).

As someone who is pro-life I would never vote for someone like Trump. He ticks all the boxes for being an evil person. Being pro-life does not make up for all his other evils.

Oh is that what he did

Anyways I think its important for people in the thread claiming things like "its literally impossible to not be complicit in nazism by voting for trump" that a lot of his voters think the media manipulates the truth and his image and dont necessarily believe he is actually a nazi lol. Some people really have a hard time grasping how bias works and struggle to think from other peoples perspectives. You having accepted Trump as a racist nazi does not mean everyone else did too and looked past it or rationalized it. They literally dont believe it, and many even take it a step further and think that democrats call everyone racist nazis so it almost doesnt mean anything to them anymore. If you feel like youre taking crazy pills and are pulling your hair out screaming its impossible for these people to not also be nazis its probably because youre not accepting that others could think differently. To a lot of these guys the media is basically the federal propaganda machine and everythings a conspiracy and trump was like a hero.

Fine, but he was endorsed by David Fucking Duke, how that doesn't convince anyone that Nazi or not real life defacto KKK people believe that Donald J. Trump's the man that'd further thier agenda should give any human with two braincells to rub together pause.

It's not that they don't believe it, they didn't care.

As I said, this is a passable excuse for 2008. It's not for 2012, when it was very clear that this was part of the policy platform of the Obama administration.

I remember in mid 2000's *everyone* clamored for drone warfare because it took American lives out of risk.

Aren't you practicing Whataboutism right now? Trying to equate a fascist political platform with a military decision you'd have seen regardless of President. Subtle!

I do agree that there's bigotry involved, but it also shows that people look out for number 1 when voting.

Most people don't care about marginalized groups they don't personally identify with.

The big NO to bigotry could not overcome the big YES to lowering their taxes, keeping their guns, etc.

This is why the diversity is our strength angle failed to work.

Even the Obama campaign focused on self interests.

Their taxes aren't getting lowered. Their guns weren't being taken away to begin with.

Whoever voted these people in should be in consideration for some of the worse stereotypes listed here under Trump voter.

Trent Franks of Arizona
Dave Brat of Virginia
Louie Gohmert of Texas
Steve King of Iowa

These people signed off on the Religious Liberty executive order, and are pushing to have Trump sign it.

Maybe I'm ignorant of Trumps' views; I only kept up with debates and many headlines. However, I thought he wanted to tighten borders, deport illegals with criminal records, was anti-vaxx, pro-life, and wanted to repeal AFA and TPP. Is this incorrect?

If it isn't, don't you think you're simplifying it by saying it's all dogwhistling and hatred, in spite of what his more vocal supporters made headlines with?

If it is, then I'll happily concede to the point.

No because you are not allowed to clean up his presentation of these ideas without being outrageously intellectually dishonest.

He didnt just want to "tighten borders" and "deport immigrants with criminal records", he wanted Muslim bans and registries, justified his border wall by calling most Mexican immigrants rapists and criminals (in fact this is literally how he began his campaign), and said a Mexican American judge shouldnt be allowed to hear his case because of his Mexican blood.

He isnt just "anti-vaxx" (and by the way being anti-vaxx means you are little more than a dangerous idiot), he is comically anti-science down to disregarding irrefutable facts about things as vitally important to mankind as climate change.

He isnt just "pro life", he thought there needed to be a way to punish women in these situations and said so. All while admitting to sexual assault in audio recording, and objectifying pretty much every woman he has ever encountered including his own daughter.

He wasnt just for "law and order", he was for mass incarceration, sending national guard into minority neighborhoods, racist stop and frisk and broken window policing.

I can go on and on. You cant be like a modern Evangelical and pick and choose what to hear without being called a massive hypocrite. In this case, you cant pretend Trumps entire campaign wasnt built on hate and racism and misogyny. And you cant absolve people of responsibility for such an abhorrent vote.

Blanketing all Trump voters as Nazis isn't fair. I can see his appeal. Hillary wasn't a particularly good candidate. She's likely more corrupt than Trump. Not many people talk about how she killed any chance of Sanders winning or the fact that her organization was a scam (has since been shut down), or that she was given the questions for one of the debates early. I still voted for her because I thought she would still ultimately make a better president than Trump but in this election is was literally douche vs turd

This better be sarcasm because to me Trump's way more corrupt than Hillary and worse yet doesn't even do the office the dignity of hiding it.

How is she likely more corrupt than Trump?

Like give one fucking example.

Trump is spending tax dollars to stay at his own property. That said property raised their rates since he became President and is advertising themselves as a place to meet the President.

Trump's daughter was granted all of her China trademarks one day after meeting Chinese President.

One day after Trump invited Duetere to WH, board goes up with Ivanka on it in Philippines advertising the Trump Tower.

Trump's charity was literally a fraud. Did you not read any of the WaPo pieces? He literally used charity dollars to buy his own portraits to hang them at his own properties.

if you think of a "Nazi" as the evil bloodthirsty guy that tries to wipe out they world (thanks Hollywood) then no, they aren't.

If you take a look at the origin of the word which is short for the political form of "National Socialism" then there are definitaley several points that are way too familiar.
Nazi germany relied on putting all blame on minorities (like the bad economy), denounce the media as beeing wrong, putting out own propaganda, accepting facismn as a common thing, neglect education, following a stupid slogan ("Germany above all" / "America first") and having a general selfish view of the world. This list could go on and on..

While most Trump voters propably do not have bad intends in general their level of empathy and historic knowledge is at least questionable. (and they allow National Socialism)

This sums it up pretty good.

People normally will vote for themselves. That shouldn't be a surprise. They have no real incentive to vote for people they don't associate with. Naming calling will happen but people are not going to be bothered by that.

I'm family over politics OP, So I don't care what people would consider relatives of mine, they are blood. I'm not eating with the third Reich, I'm eating with a doctor, a nurse, a EMT member, a marine, a fire fighter. All people that help people. They just happen to be Republican.

Of course some people would see them as extreme evil. That's their opinion they are entitled to. As long as it's not said in front of me I don't let the insults bother me.

They'd argue the same about you.

That's what this thread is about. The two sides of the coin, and how much they think the other side is ignorant, stupid, callous, and foolish.

We did have one.

It ended up electing Donald Trump lol.

I don't give a shit about what people invent in their heads, that they are so removed from reality only supports my point of view.

No. I'm saying it's not reasonable to suppose that someone is morally complicit every decision the person they are voting for makes, that we can see an example of this principle in that nobody in this thread is condemning Democratic voters for being complicit in the the murder of Afghan children, and that therefore we can't reasonably extend a blanket condemnation to all Trump voters. Of course, we can do this on a case-by-case basis - he definitely does have a worryingly large cohort of fascist support - but there will have been people who voted Trump because on balance, they were concerned about their child's job or future, or because they were concerned about their community's ongoing survival, or because they wanted to stamp down on abortion, or because they (mistakenly) believed Trump really would drain the swamp.

Eh, there's a lot that the far left is wrong about. I would argue that labeling 61,943,670 people, while condemning bigots, and saying they're understanding/tolerant is one.

There's lot of reasons they may come up with that justify voting for Trump over Hillary. None of which are important to you, but may very well be extremely important to them.

It's always been the end of the world, when an election happens. It's inherently polarizing, half of the US disagreeing with each other. I don't label them shit, because I don't know them.

I think all of that, while knowing that Trump is a stone cold idiot. The dumbest president I've experienced.

Nothing to be proud of tbh.

Lol, I'm anything but proud of that.

What point does this prove? Do you even know?

Nothing you posted in any way contradicts the person you're quoting. Never mind the fact that Trump is even worse at selling positions than what is in the article you posted.

Hes trying to say Trump is currupt because countries are doing things for better standings with him, which is somehow worse then a political party that gives most of there high ranking embassy positions to donors, these donors are then given power.

Remember bunch of countries donated to Clinton foundation for better standings also

I don't care about their justifications. I care about the facts that they're using to justify their opinions. That those facts and basis that they're making their decisions is utterly bogus, makes me perfectly OK with calling them stupid, ignorant or reckless.

That post I called sarcastic, contained verifiable lies and misinformation. That is the start and end of my comment about it.

Trump is doing that too (worse even, giving *cabinet* positions to donors). Ambassadorships to donors also has been a long standing tradition, rightly or wrongly. Hence why your post is a bit silly, because if you'd done your homework you wouldn't use it as a point of comparison.

Poster asks how Hillary is corrupt, gets response saying DNC is corrupt with a link to an article about Obama appointees. Seems legit. Good thing trump never gave ambassadorships to campaign donors and high-profile supporters. Oh wait.

They'd argue the same about you.

That's what this thread is about. The two sides of the coin, and how much they think the other side is ignorant, stupid, callous, and foolish.

Serious question: What would it take for you to come to the conclusion that some times, even when both sides are calling each other villainous, the correct position is NOT half way down that imaginary coin? Would it be racism? Denial of science? Denial of facts in favor of what "feels" right? Denial of the equality of every American under the law? Denial of the ability for a judge to be impartial because he's Latino?

With federal funding going to private and religious schools, there's going to be a whole lot of people that have no common ground to start from. It's bad now, but it will eventually get to the point where we can't even agree that the world is billions of years old. Because one side will continue to spread fear, uncertainty, and doubt about the fact-checkers. And some people, because of their emotional attachment to their friends and family, will continue to believe that the truth is somewhere in the middle.

EDIT: I missed the sarcasm. Point still stands.

When a candidate calls Mexicans rapists and murderers and that shit gets played every day on TV and the radio and newspapers until the day of the elections and a person still votes for that candidate that's not lack of research, that's actively ignoring facts. Also if you get to 80 and don't already know how to read between lines if Trump had been trying to hide that shit (which he wasn't) that's just sad that you get to that age and have been so ignorant your entire life to believe everything you've ever been told, specially by a politician.
