Golgo 13 is the manliest dude ever, undeniable.
Yui is the best K-ON! character
Welcome to the NHK is crap, but it had good music
Gundam, all of it, is boring
Mazinger Z > UFO Robot Grendizer
Cobra is manlier.
This thread reminds me that I never actually finished Cowboy Bebop after a friend spoiled the ending for me after I missed the last few episodes during its original run on Adult Swim.

Haha man, I have not met a single person who didn't already know the ending of Bebop before they watched it.
I was spoiled about it back in the early 00s and its still my favorite show.
There are a number of reasons why I believe that, but the primary one is that anime has music while written material does not. Music adds an unbelievable amount to the experience that I can forgive a lot of the areas where an anime might have to cut corners to adapt a source material. What's gained is greater than what's lost.
I didn't and went into the ending fresh of the ending's direction.
If you're looking for Haibane Renmei with tangible external conflict, watch Gunslinger Girl.
(If you're looking for Haibane Renmei for retards, watch Angel Beats.)

A good percentage of manga adaptations change the actual story/events and characterisations for the worse.

:O you are rare as a Unicorn my friend lol
I don't know how 'controversial' it is but the Trigun manga >>>>>>>> The TV series, in my opinion.
also based on the first 3 episodes, last year Nichijou > this year's Nichijou (it's still one of the better shows of this season though).
Loved the Knives plot in the Manga so much more then the anime which fell apart in the last few episodes to me.

I love how the fastest moving anime threads are the ones where people shit on anime lol.
My opinion: K-ON! > Evangelion
I'm enjoying Gundam Age. The generational concept is cool. Everyone hates it.
People love to bitch (myself included).
Here's an old argument that some IRC/newsgroup goer's might remember (and also my opinion):
Robotech is better than Macross. Macross is so damned corny at times that I wanted to throw myself off a bridge to avoid having to watch culture.defeat the Zentradi, who just couldn't fucking handle the singing of Minmay
I haven't liked most of the slice of life anime I've watched. In fact, I've found most of it to be the most atrocious piece of trash ever and a complete waste of time.
Is this supposed to be a criticism or something? Plot is worthless. The first Ghost in the Shell movie has no real plot to speak of until about 15 minutes before the end credits roll.
I agree, most of them just don't really appeal to me. I liked Usagi Drop though I'll admit.

Are you and 7th conjoined twins? Is this supposed to be a criticism or something? Plot is worthless.
Here a controversial opinion: Gantz is godawful shit and the process of watching it was excruciating.
Death Note is one of the better comedy series of the past decade. It is a comedy series, right?
I can't tell if you're joking or not. Please be joking.Plot is kind of the reason why movies (other than bullshit student films) exist, sooo....yes?
-_-
This is why they keep making crap like Gundam Age.
So I saw the "controversial opinions" thread in the gaming section and I was about to post when I realized that most of my "controversial" opinions about games have at least some vocal minority of backers. Some of my less mainstream opinions about anime, however, are seemingly mine and mine alone. So I thought I'd start this thread for animu fans to vent their unpopular opinions about animu, and maybe find out if other people have unpopular opinions as well, and in that case these people can rejoice and be hipsters together. So, without further ado...
The Cowboy Bebop dub is good, but way overrated. Steve Blum and Wendee Lee (and whoever the hell played Jet) can't emote for shit.
For that matter, Cowboy Bebop itself is 50% overrated - by which I mean that roughly half the episodes are bland, formulaic, and utterly disposable. The other half are phenomenal and completely deserving of the hype. Since the last few episodes are among these, people tend to look back and remember only the good parts, and thus get it into their head that Cowboy Bebop is perfect. Which it's not.
The first Fullmetal Alchemist anime - an excellent, if flawed series in its own right - is way, way better than Brotherhood - an uninspired, watered-down, mind-numbingly literal adaptation of the manga with way worse music, direction, dialogue, voice acting and characterization.
Rebuild of Evangelion is to Evangelion as the Star Wars prequel trilogy is to Star Wars.
Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence is better than the original movie.
The dubs of FLCL, Trigun and Rurouni Kenshin are unwatchable.
I love the dub for Evangelion, even though it is kinda hokey and the show is kinda not.
I find most Miyazaki movies boring and most Kon films leave me cold.
Yoko Kanno is not my favorite anime composer, and much of her post-90s stuff is unremarkable.
Naruto is one of the better shonen series and I'll take it over Bleach, One Piece or Dragon Ball any day.
Kenji Kamiyama is a hugely overhyped director whose shows are stilted, excessively talky, poorly paced, and utterly devoid of believable human sentiment.
Misc. overrated series (in order from least to most overrated): Haibane Renmei, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Darker Than Black, Baccano, Monster, Elfen Lied, anything by Kyoto Animation.
All I can think of for now. More to come. Probably.
Is this supposed to be a criticism or something? Plot is worthless.
I can't say I disagree with anything he said about FMA and FMA:B.

Magical Project S is the best thing to come out of the Tenchiverse, and an underappreciated classic in the magical girl genre.
I don't know if it's controversial anymore, but: Ninja Scroll sucks.
Fushigi Yuugi was a really good show (TV series; massive diminishing returns as you go through the various OAV releases.)
Chibiusa > Usagi
Ping Pong Club > Cromartie
I'm a moe fan now? Cool. Can I make something up about you too?Why is it every moe fan I have ever even heard of expressed this opinion?
Mugi > Ui > Mio > Yui > Ritsu >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Sawako >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Azunyan
I'm a moe fan now? Cool. Can I make something up about you too?
What don't you like about it?
I'm guessing it's the fact that some of the main characters are children?
Even despite that, the tone of the series is still quite serious, and the narrative is entertaining me. I don't see how it's considered a bad series when it's supported by an intriguing concept of having a new protagonist for every generation. To me, that's refreshing for a Gundam series.
