Pickle on the side.

Beetroot is definitively an Aussie thing. Never even heard of that shit before.

It's okay, but with fresh beetroot only.

Is like potato salad. A good one needs the pickle.

Unless you know warm southern German style potato salad. Those don't need pickles.

I literally just finished watching a dude get this done. The procedure was.... rough to say the least.

And for women it's no better and even riskier I believe. Science has got to improve in this area :)

edit: I used to be team I hate beetroot/pickles, but now I can't get enough of either, as well as olives, jalapenos etc etc. I guess my tastes went through a major change recently, funny how that works.

I generally dislike cheese when it's not "cooked into" something (pizza, lasagne, etc). And cheese on a burger is just a disgusting texture and taste.

Pineapple on a burger is fine, but you can get the same effect by asking them to submerge it in water briefly and they'll usually do that for free.

Oh man you really need to go to a cheese factory and get into a tasting. You'll love it after that!

We eat shitloads of cheese these days. Healthy snack along with vegemite on a crispette.

I went to one in the Netherlands in a school trip back in 1996 and did exactly that. I was hungry that day so it took me two or three bits of cheese before the texture overcame my hunger and put me off. I just don't like cheese at all unless it's cooked into something.

And while we're on the subject, similar thing happened with vegemite. A girl from Hong Kong gave me some when I was living in a hostel in Taipei. I was that hungry I had like 5-6 slices of vegemite on bread before the taste actually kicked in.

But hey, at least they're not nuts. I puke every time I eat those.

So what do you guys think? Most of the parts here are from PCCaseGear with the 20% off. The CPU Cooler, Motherboard, Case, HDD and Wifi Card I will buy from somewhere else. The CPU is from Futu Online which is 20% off as well.

I would ask myself if I really need a soundcard and optical drive. That's $270 that could go towards propping up the purchase of a better motherboard, CPU, graphics card, monitor, etc.

Also, if your SSD is going to be purely for your OS and core applications, then I'd think 128GB would be enough. I bought a 128GB MX100 for my desktop (I've got a 2TB WD Black for games).

- You don't need a dedicated sound card
- You should be reported to the police for spending that much on a keyboard. A cheaper mechanical one without flashing neon lights is not only less tacky, but will save you money.
- You're spending over 2000 on a rig, but are only getting 8gb of Ram?

I'd go the opposite way, get a 512gb Crucial SSD. Unfortunately they're sold out on Ebay.

Never spend over $30 on a keyboard unless you can try it first.

And personally, I fell in love with the Saitek Eclipse about ten years ago. It's a good sturdy keyboard with backlit keys and no stupid extra keys or any other superfluous "l33t gamerz" shit. I was gutted when Mad Katzzzzzzz bought Saitek, but then discovered they're selling pretty much the same keyboard with the name "Cyborg V.5" or something. I've got one, and that'll do me for a long time.

This too.

I was curious about new Crucial/Micron SSDs today, and discovered they've got two new SSD brands to replace the MX100s.

I'm always tempted to buy a 1TB SSD to replace the M500 480GB I've got on my laptop, but considering the improvement would be solely in capacity, I've decided just to ride this laptop out until it breaks. It's served me well for 3 years now, and as long as it works the earliest I'll consider replacing it is in 2017.

I will always recommend Samsung Pro SSDs.

The cooler probably isn't required unless you are intending on overclocking.

The optical drive... I haven't used my one for years. So this depends on your own personal usage. I think my current one has lasted 3 PC builds heh.

Definitely get > 8gb of RAM.

Whoops, I accidentally left the keyboard on that list. I wasn't planning on getting that any time soon. :p That said, i would like to have a mechanical keyboard with media controls (and possibly a backlight, but that is a lesser priority). I've been looking at the Das Keyboard 4.

Sound Card was kind of a luxury thing. I wouldn't have really considered it but it was 20% off. I want a Bluray drive because I want a way to watch my Criterions.

So it sounds like it's worth doubling up on RAM? I wasn't sure if games needed more that 8 at the moment.

The extra RAM is a futureproofing type deal. It's honestly so cheap that you might as well get 16.

Keep in mind that there is no free software that plays Blu-ray movies. If you go through an extraction process to rip them to your HDD I believe you'll get it done, but otherwise you'll need something like PowerDVD or whatever.

I've had 8GB since 2011 and would consider it to be entry-level for a PC. 8GB would technically be enough for today's needs, but if you're spending that amount of money you want to be building the best possible machine.

If you want an optical drive, you don't need to spend a higher amount for a burner. I bought a Pioneer BDC-207DBK purely for ripping my Blu-ray movies and it's more than sufficient.

And like I said in my previous post: don't buy an expensive keyboard unless you've tried it first.

I wouldn't recommend using PowerDVD. Or any other software for that matter. Limited updates and obsolescence makes for shitty futureproofing. That and if you're collecting BD movies, it's best to rip them and conserve your disc. Storage is cheap nowadays as well, so it's best to keep archival copies.

I rip them using MakeMKV - http://www.makemkv.com/

Ditch cooler, optical drive and sound card. That's $350 saved. You can save another $200 by ditching your keyboard. Buy an external USB optical drive instead, discs are so last century. I guarantee you , it will get used like 5 times in the next 5 years. Double your RAM to 16gig.

No OS or monitor for that price? Ouch you did bad son. You basically have at least $550 in useless spending. Furthermore you can ditch the WiFi adapter and get a motherboard with built in WiFi.

Do you have any mobos you recommend with Wifi?

I'm not sure if I should get a new monitor yet. I'm looking for something top of the line so it's probably a whole new can of worms. As for the OS, I want to stick with the Windows 7 I have currently.

which mad men vomit gif should I use? Don, Roger or Betty?

edit1: all of them!

I got a lot of shit at work for this, but a kebab with garlic sauce, jalapenos and pineapple is fucking amazing.
Pineapple just improves all food.

How much are you wanting to spend on a mobo? When I was looking for one I realised that only a really shit one or a top of the line one have built in wifi. You may as well just get a mobo you want and just use a wireless dongle.
And yea drop the optical drive. I had mine installed for 1 week until I realised that it was never going to be used and made cable management harder than it had to be.

Couple of things you could change.

1) You can ditch the sound card. I love my STX, But unless you're putting some hi-fi equipment into it, It's kinda pointless. The card is also "old" at this stage, While it's still amazing, They can be hit and miss on their drivers.

2) Storage. I'm going to suggest something different since I like clean installations. Unless you need 3TB of storage, Ditch it for something smaller and go 2x SSDs instead. Example would be, 60GB for the OS and 256+ for gaming. Use the mechanical HDD for your porn.

3) Power supply is fine. It's probably overkill to be honest for that setup, You can go lower if you want to save a few bucks.

4) Don't listen to the people who are telling you to not get a CPU Cooler. Get a bloody aftermarket cooler! The noctua is amazing, You can certainly go cheaper though. Check the PC thread in gaming for the ones they suggest.

5) Wireless. Any particular reason why you want to use wireless on a desktop? If you can, Use ethernet, It's going to be better in every situation. Unless you have a very specific reason for requiring wireless, You can ditch the adapter for now and pick one up later on if something changes.

6) 16GB of memory would be nice. 8GB is honestly fine these days, People will suggest to go higher but there seems to be no reason at this point in time to go higher. You can always throw more in later, If the board has more slots. If it's only got 2, Just go 16 to begin with to save you down the line.

Evil grin of enjoyment after you saw that surgery

fact of the day: beetroot ruins a burger.

Can't we all just enjoy burgers the way we like them guys? I like beetroot.

It seems to have rained a fair bit last night.

The water coming into our house through the holes in our roof are evidence of that. We've taken pictures this time to demand the landlord get them fixed. We are gladly moving out in June and they are demolishing our place, but until then I don't really want water near my PC.

Looking to move to Mount Gravatt, just south of the Brisbane CBD. Rent is cheap there and not too far from work.

Ofc we can stack!

What would be the odds of me receiving a parcel from Korea tomorrow that was shipped yesterday with express post?

That sucks about the leaks. They'll put it off for as long as humanly possible.

That's a decent choice, if only for the bus way.

I don't really have a budget for the mobo. Whatever has the best bang for buck. I guess I'll probably ballpark it in between 100 - 350. I'll listen to evlcookie's advice and hold off for wireless for until until I find out if I really need it so I won't need that feature in the motherboard.

Haven't been following motherboards in the last few years lately but it's good to see a lot of manufacturers have ditched the lego colour scheming towards their motherboards.

If you're keen to do some research on them, more popular motherboards have owners clubs on places like overclock.net. Even though I got my Maximus IV Extreme-Z for chips, I wish I went there and did a bit of reading before I got it. I'd have found out about the USB3 issues and the front panel audio/mic crosstalk if I did (still plagues some asus mobo's now it seems...).

Good choice, you seem to know what you want, but if you ever want some more guidelines have a look at the build a pc thread, they've got builds for both small and normal form factor. All the guys are really helpful as well.

Will make a complaint to the RTA if they don't. The landlord asked us for photos so we took some this morning when the water came in.

Rep I jumped on that $24 Getflix deal last night. Turns out it's a lifetime deal, so when the 12 months is up, it renews at that same price!

Can watch Community on Yahoo Screen using the Getflix DNS too!
