The Last Guardian looks like it has decent trees too.
Your Uncharted 3 copy does look that good...There's some kind of screenshot voodoo going on here 'cause the version of Uncharted 3 I own doesn't look anywhere near this good.
Good art will always trump realism. In 2-4 years those Ryse & Crysis shots will look bad & dated, but the above quoted ones will look good forever.
I used to love Yoshi's Story as a kid. Didn't know people hated it.I know it wasn't a popular game but I enjoyed it.

Alan Wake is great. Pretty accurate vegetation to the region (afaik) and the forest, especially at night- becomes a character in itself.
Very few particular trees stand out, but as a whole they add so much to the game.

...I should try that when I play it again and take screens of it:Someone on reddit explained it here
Yeah. This thread resulted in a reddit post about that tree, lol
Last Blade 1 & 2.
Oh and SvC Chaos.
no way... I don't remember it looking that good. Typically I remember things looking better than they are...
Someone tell me I'm not looking at a Crysis mod or something...
It's real guys, 2 screens I took just now:
Yeah, curse that rock!!!I think we should talk about that rock on the left though...

We are kinda getting one, Epic Yoshi or whatever it will end up being (Yoshi's New Story? lol). Now I want Nintendo release a Yoshi's Story HD for Wii U.
Answered in that reddit. It only looks that good when you aim.
A vg thread about trees... Why.jpg.

"Some people don't seem to believe, but it's real. I'm not sure if there's a name for the method Uncharted uses, or if this is the exact process they use, but what they appear do is have very high res textures for everything, but during regular play in motion, you only ever see the downscaled version.
However, if you aim at an object, the high res texture is loaded and it looks amazing. You can aim at cars, the ground, rocks, people, everything has very high res textures that show up when you aim at it/them.
And it doesn't look weird to have the game load a new texture on the fly, because theres a small blurring effect that feels like your eyes are adjusting focus when you're looking at something with more attention.
You won't find a screenshot of Uncharted looking this good when Nathan is not aiming tho."

Ni No Kuni
I just tried it out and I can confirm that he is right and it works, heck some textures look different when zooming in, like a higher resolution. That is really clever. I think I remember the blur effect, and it makes perfect sense when you're playing. Very cool.
It's probably just their texture streaming solution....I should try that when I play it again and take screens of it:

Yep, just did a comparison recently as well. It's probably just their texture streaming solution.

A stylists tree, which represent the art style, the game world and the whole theme of the game, will always look better, then any realistic tree. There is simply more meaning, thought and work put into an stylists tree. A realistic tree is mostly just an tree.
