I'm surprised there is no UI mods.
They're doing a console port so they have no make a new UI. There's no way they launch a game on consoles with that UI.

wait this game has a dark knight class and it looks totally badass...I played the beta and the game really intrigued me...guess I should give it another go now.
I would play this more except I have no body to play it with
This is a chart displaying the kill to death ratio of every class (minus Striker). Higher is better. Should help you come to a conclusion.
NeoGAF's guild welcomes everyone. If you just want some people to talk to and do things with, feel free to join our ranks. Just whisper me in the game (family name: Biestmann), and I'll throw an invite your way. That goes for everyone in this thread!
I assume this guild is on the US side of the servers (just so people knows)?
So I've decided to pick up the game, but how bad is the PvP in the game? Like, I plan to play solo, and I don't want someone to approach me Zodiac killer-style while I'm picking mushrooms and kill me and my horse.
Haha thx for the hit up. Hope it helped someone.Quoting anothertech's excellent write-up in my LTTP thread:
It's unlikely to happen unless you're in a popular farming spot, and even then, people will usually warn you first if you're encroaching on their area.
There's no incentive to PvP outside of guild stuff, and the combat is so gear/level dependent that few people feel the need to kill random players to stretch their egos. I was PKed maybe 5 times in my several thousand hours in-game and every time it was while I was AFK. It's not like ArcheAge or other MMOs where there are different factions and you can steal tradepacks and then have a funny trial and escape from jail. In Black Desert, you just get negative karma and then everyone kills you.
Edit: also re: PVP - there is none until you hit level 50. And even then, if a higher level comes to gank you, they get negative karma that is a pain in the @ss to get rid of. So ganking doesn't happen alot until you get to higher levels, around 56 or so. And most of the time the other players will invite you to duel instead so they don't get the negative karma. But the game warns you, if you don't want to PvP, you just stay at 50 and keep playing that way. You have to actually complete a specific quest to get to 50 and unlock PvP mode.
Hmm, alright. I guess that's not that bad. I just don't want to lose anything important because some other player decided to go on a killing spree. That kind of thing can make me take a break from an MMO that I would otherwise enjoy.

This sounds EXCELLENT. Just staying below 50 and not having to worry about PvP is very reassuring. Well, not sure how viable it is to stay under 50 since I haven't played the game, but it's nice it's there for beginners like me even if I decide to cross the threshold later on. PKs getting hard to remove negative karma is a bonus, too.
Can't decide if I want to play this......
Just recently resubbed to FFXIV (never got past 38 but the jump potions are coming out so I'll wait for that).
Just also bought Morrowind for ESO but havent played much lol
How badly did I screw up by not buying the explorer bundle?
wait there's a region lock? How's the community for us EU players then?
I'm a member of the guild in the US, yes. Thanks for reminding me to add the detail! We also have a EU guild, but I can't really comment on the state of it.
Love the game, but had to quit because the UI was tiny and unreadable
This is true. But you can organize/turn of anything in the UI you don't like.Poop UI and poop quest system but cool combat
Confirmed: Even though your region is locked from the store page, you can still play the game via gifting.
What server is the Gaf guild on?
We need a thread about this. Care to gift one and I'll paypal you back? Or the other way.

Wait, you can play the game by gifting even though you're region locked?
Yeah, that was my takeaway from playing it for about a week.Poop UI and poop quest system but cool combat

I have almost nothing on my UI except minimap and health bar.

The problem for me is I don't know what's important and what's not. Also nodes. The general UI, poorly conveyed information and lack of any apparent cohesive structure makes it feel like everything is kinda being held together by wire. I get it's supposed to just toss you in the deep end and immediately let you do anything you want, but it's not user friendly in the slightest. And from what I understand there's no real dungeoning or raiding? Combat is very good in that in controls super well, looks flashy, and you feel good killing things. But PvE content and purpose is a little lacking. It seems like people who are really into BDO are into the economy and establishing trade routes, something I'm not particularly drawn by, especially since it doesn't do a great job of explaining all it's various currencies, energies, meters and systems.
How is this game with a controller?
I want a new controller MMO but don't want to pay the FFXIV monthly fee
Really wanted to like this but it's just so uninteresting. Was bored to tears during the the beginning, black smoke thing mechanic felt ridiculous. Don't know how to describe it but it just feels messy. Character creator is really nice though, a shame all the cool costumes are locked behind real money.
All in all, It's insane that after so many years passed, none of the current mmo's manage to capture the feeling of DaoC, EQ 2, Asheron's Call 2 and early WoW, had so much fun back then. Even Guild Wars was nice but nothing after that came to touching those experiences for me.
