I just bought this. If it's no good, I'm blaming Aeana!!!
Edit ed, nda is a fickle thing
Sorry for derailing the discussion.. Have yet to get back home from yesterday, any positive feedback on the game apart from op?

Have you bothered to read most of the posts in this thread? Pretty enthusiastic, for the most part. I wouldn't expect anything more than a trickle of reviews on mainstream sites that have covered the game in the past (IGN, Joystiq(?), Destructoid) and "indie" reviews as word of mouth spreads.
Anyone else not able to switch to xinput controls? I click and I click but nothing happens. I have the latest directx.
For the record, it's not how it seems at all.
Oh, that's a relief. (Yes, I'm serious. ^^)The first time you see her in the game she is kicking ass on her own and running ahead. She is certainly not a damsel in distress.
I play the game with my DS3 fine. When it first started up only the directional controls worked, but I used the mouse to get into the key config, and manually assigned jump and attack, and everything was fine after that.
Yes i've red a few opinion, but the more the marrierHave you bothered to read most of the posts in this thread? Pretty enthusiastic, for the most part. Pretty badass first hour, but I'm done with this game. Insta-kill spike pits, invincible enemies, and dying in two hits isn't what I consider a good time. Nice try, though.

I'm currently playing through the game to do a review on it. Hopefully I'll be able to knock it out by Monday or Tuesday depending on my schedule.
And I figured out my issue where I was stuck. I didn't realize that wearing plate mail reduced your jumping ability THAT much.
That's just a Little Shop of Horrors reference as far as I know.
I already have directx and xinput, but gave the suggested fix a try anyway. No dice. The game simply refuses to allow me to select joystick.
I want a refund.
So far, it seems more like Castlevania 2, where there's a "right" path through an area, with branching paths leading to dead end side rooms, and you may want (so far I've only gone back for bonuses, not anything required) to redouble your steps on occasion to use items in places you've been before. But the game is building a teleportation system with these save points, based on an NPC's dialog, so it may very well be that I need to go back to earlier areas later on.

If you want a challenge, wait until you get to the torture chamber
I typed joy.cpl in "run" and it was already set to the 360 controller, so does this mean I should be okay? (Haven't bought game yet because of this potential issue and other misc. reasons.)CONTROLLER FIX (that worked for me)
In a run box in windows type "joy.cpl"
Click advanced and set your preferred controller, as the game doesn't detect it if it is set to none.
Use keyboard and mouse to config controller. All you should have to change is jump and attack to your preferred keys.
KillerIsJed, your solution worked for me. Thank you.

Yep, set to 360 there too, with no other available options.Did you check under advanced? That is where it matters.

How are the jumping physics? Any game they are comparable to? Physics can make or break a platformer for me. I like them with very little inertia, like Mega Man.
Ahhh I loved 1001 Spikes and even got all the Achievements. Gonna grab this for sure. You'd like this then. It reminds me of Mega Man's / a little less stiff than Aben Hawking and the 1001 Spikes.
I wonder why that's still $15 and this launched at $5. Any ideas?Ahhh I loved 1001 Spikes and even got all the Achievements. Gonna grab this for sure.

Is that a Monster Party nod I see? I'm in!!!
You're not there yet. You'll know.
Man, I think my biggest gripe with the game so far is that my volume settings are reset every time I quit out of the game and reopen it. :/
