What are everyone's favorite Slice of Life comics? I love Giant Days, but I also love things that aren't comedy, like Lost at Sea, Adrian Tomine's works, or Essex County.
Wow, Redneck got REALLY good this week. This is the first issue of this book I've loved.
I have read up to 3 and have yet to be impressed (especially by the art...), but I was gonna give it until 5 before I dropped, so this is encouraging.

Sunstone
Strangers in Paradise (see why I had crippling fear of finishing it knowing there would be no more. Terry recently announced it's coming back in January for a new story)

As you know, (because of you) I've read all of Sunstone. I've never read Strangers in Paradise, though. I'll look into it again.

Wow, it's long!!!

Buy the omnibus. Just trust me.

It was released from 1993-2007. Self published by Terry Moore. It's beautifully drawn and written. Early issues are good but slapstick then it gets really really good. Such great characters that you grow to love. The length gives it time to dig deep into your. Just stellar.

This is what you are looking for. The complete book. Two huge omnibus paperbacks over 2000 pages of awesome.

It's almost September, and Youth in Decline still isn't publishing again. I e-mailed the guy who runs it with his wife at the beginning of the year, and he explained the situation of being so busy with a newborn, but I didn't expect it to be so long. I look forward to that zine coming back. Shipping it to Japan is not worth it, though, so I can't read it frequently.

The thing is... I moved across the city into a much smaller place at the beginning of July. All omnibus purchases will have to wait a significant amount of time, until I know I'm living in the country I'll be in for a long time after... or I order them and send 'em to my parents' place and read them whenever I visit. hahah

Yup, black edition of Rachel Rising too.

Buy the pocket books then. Small in size easy to read.

Someone was asking the other day when the last time I read a full trade at once was. I couldn't stop reading Wonder Woman v2 (Year One) till the end yesterday. The pacing of the first six issues was perfect and Nicola Scott was such a great fit. The issue with Wonder Woman's first public appearance was so good, loved the action sequence! The last issue (Barbara Ann Minerva's quest) was pretty fun too. I don't know how all this would have read monthly, alternating with the other book. But as a standalone, 2,4,6,8,10,14 are much stronger for me than the other arc.

So I decided to play Uncharted 4. I am up to
The Auction chapter
. Holy shit the graphics in this game are insane. Nates brother is uncanny at times. Also all the voice acting so far has been awesome.

Also Nates brother is the spitting image of Luke Perry in Riverdale. lol.

Uncharted 4 is pretty awesome all the way through, some people give it stick for some of the slower jumping sections but I honestly like those bits as chances to build up a few character moments, I think some people just want to find a reason to complain about anything. The second ones still my favourite but four ran it pretty close for me and I still don't think I've played anything with better graphics yet (that includes horizon). The swerve of Drake having a brother is pretty out of nowhere after not being mentioned in 3 previous games but the relationship works because of the voice actors involved. Still after four games I'll always go Chloe over Elena.

I really need to take a chance on the strangers in paradise collection some time, its just spending that amount on one thing after reading the first volume and it not really grabbing me, but I've heard enough on here about how good it gets later on and I've loved Motor Girl so much so far I should take the chance.

Edit: Just saw there's a rumor that Capullo might do a Swamp Thing mini post-Metal before doing Reborn vol. 2. I'd love that.

Lol whoever reported this as rumour must be having a slow news week, pretty sure he publicly tweeted weeks ago that he wants Swamp Thing to be the next thing he works on, and Capullo is very much in the getting what he wants phase of his career.

I'm sure there will be some very excited folks at the prospect Brother Scott could join him and return to Swampy ;)

I'll really have to get around to Love & Rockets. I actually own quite a bit of Yotsuba&. You'd like my Danbo collection. My friend with family in Sendai just got me another one that's designed like Date Masamune, since that's where his grave is.

God, the world losing Robbie's art soon makes me sad...

When did he start drawing giraffes?

Btw he announced his retirement like 2 years ago and has done multiple arcs since then. Something tells me he isn't retiring.

I was just about the ask if there was any word on what Capullo would be working on next! Swamp Thing would be an awesome book for him, totally different from most of his other work too. Most people didnt seem the like Snyder's Swamp Thing though right? I quite liked it alot but I like alot of things other seem to not lol.

Has there been any Swamp Thing appearances since Rebirth?

I would really like to see Capullo get on something on going again. I loved Reborn, but I dont see Millar staying on the book longer than 5-6 more issues lol. Would like to see him do something at Marvel once his DC contract is up if he doesnt get an ongoing book there.

Swampy was in early issues of Hellblazer Rebirth.

And you mean you haven't read Capullo's X-Force or Quasar runs from when he started at Marvel? ;D

And Batman and Superman.

Ive read his Batman of course, and seen his work on Spawn and Haunt. Didnt know he worked on Superman though, which book did he do?

His X-Force and Quasar book pales in comparison to his more recent work imo but ive only glanced at it. Kinda like Immonen's work on Ultimate X-Men compared to his work nowadays.

Yeah I was just messing with you, he was basically a Liefeld clone back then.

You have more Yotsuba than me.
Little guys:

And this big guy holds all my beautiful 500 yen coins.

That pink one is cute. And is that Saturn Apartments I see? That is another slice-of-life that I really enjoyed.

Why is One punch man upside down?

I kinda got tired of the series after the initial pacing dissipated. I randomly shoved it in the back when I needed space. (Still thinking about whether I want to sell those or not).

Action Comics question.
I'm buying two issues for the Superman tie-in, and I saw the newest issues are about "Mr. Oz," and I saw know nothing about this. I saw somebody a few pages back say maybe he's Doctor Manhattan or something? So the identity is not known? Just off the top of my head, but is it possible that it's Adrian Veidt (Ozymandias)? Since Geoff Johns said the smartest men of two different worlds would meet, shouldn't Adrian make an appearance at some point? He's the smartest, I thought.

Once again, I don't know anything about this comic. If this is completely off or already guessed by everyone, nevermind.

Ok I was gunna say lol. I guess that was the style back then but man, the 90s right!

How was Morrison's Action Comics run? I read the first few issues and liked what I read but I didn't hear great things as it went on.

The Oz Effect is about the true identity of Mr. Oz, a hooded guy who showed up towards the start of the New 52 and stayed in the shadows while keeping Superman under watch. In DC Rebirth #1 he confronted Superdad after Superman's death and said the Kent family have no idea what they are. He kidnapped a bunch of characters like Doomsday, Tim Drake etc. After Superman Reborn he has become more active and stepped out of the shadows. Now Clark and Lex wants to know who this guy is and confront him(he might still be free by the end of this crossover).

The meeting of the smartest men of two worlds is going to happen in Johns' Doomsday Clock.

Edit: BC: Someone high up at Marvel didn't like Rucka's time with Punisher and is keeping it OOP even with the Netflix show on the way.

The writing was on the wall for ages. It redirects to a section of GameSpot now. Awhile back my FB sub to them was turned into "GameSpot Universe" which was just regurgitated MCU trailers and Game of Thrones stuff. Immediate unfollow.

Still not as bad as what CBR has become now i.e. mostly about Hulk sex.
