Yeahhhhh not really feeling this. Not as down on it as some folks but this beta 100% cemented I'm going to just Gamefly this at launch for a bit unless they show something really significant before launch.
Not gonna bother cluttering the thread too much with more of the same complaints but I agree with the general sentiment that the dual primary system is not good, and gunplay, movement, etc all feels really geared towards PvP. PvP actually felt pretty good but different from Destiny 1, so I'm not entirely sure what audience they're trying to capture if that really is what all of the system and mechanic changes were intended for. However I still really don't have any interest in Destiny as a PvP game in the slightest, and if I did it would be a completely moot point since 4v4 only is a hilariously dumb restriction, especially since even at 6v6 people would often have to be left out in our group. And goddamn is the UI in PvP way too fucking cluttered and busy.
I only played as a Hunter since that's what like 90% of my ~1200 hours in Destiny 1 were, and the 2 supers we have access too seem alright but not a fan of the abilities at all and in general the Hunter feels way more useless compared to Warlock/Titan, especially compared to Destiny 1. At this point unless a lot changes I'm probably going to switch to Warlock which feels dirty to even say. I really enjoyed playing as a Hunter and also really appreciated the fact they are the only class with a "normal" jump since I absolutely goddamn hate the gliding shit, but here we are.
Gonna hop on tomorrow and play as the other two classes but more out of obligation than anything to see if something clicks better there. The game is absolutely fucking gorgeous and despite myself I still want to see where the story goes, but I think like most folks what kept me playing stupid amounts of Destiny 1 was the core combat and everything feeling great, and they really killed that here in my opinion. I totally see why some folks are fine with it or like it so I'm not gonna knock them, but it's just 100% not for me as it stands, not with me not giving a shit about the PvP regardless of it's quality.
I really hate that I've been complaining about the PvP vs PvE balancing since Destiny 1's launch but it's a bigger deal here now than ever and it may be what's finally pushes me away completely from Destiny.
Edit: Also I 110% understand why they don't have a Patrol zone available in the beta after how that went in the Destiny 1 beta, but I feel like it really hurts them not having some sort of open free zone with maybe public events or something to get a feel for how that's gonna be. Also all of the splash screens that let you hit X to pre-order are kinda sleezy Bungie.
