Lars Bakken takes us through the details of Survival, a new PVP mode coming to Destiny. He also takes us on a tour of a new map Altar of Flame.
Weapons keep their stats in PvP. So yes, people do tend to gravitate towards whatever is the "best".Does the stats on the weapons mean anything for PVP? Do they balance them out during matches or? Wouldn't it make it incredibly unfair if someone rolled a Legendary Pistol of 1-shot-kill Eagles vs. a new guy with Dank Rifle of You're-out-of-Ammo?
Never tried the PVP in Destiny 1 so I don't know how it worked.
So you want Bungie to establish a brand new never been done before PVP mode? What's with Destiny 2 and not innovating any new game modes.
So far we have a revamped control, search and destroy, and now Gear's version of TDM.
Hopefully this replaces Skirmish

stats matter, part of the meta is chasing the "best" crucible weapon for your play style.
RIP Eyasaluna with luck in the chamber.
So you want Headhunter and Stockpile, is what you're really saying?? 🤔
They got rid of it for some reason.I says it a once and I says it again: where that free-for-all be?

Not the mode for my boys. Three of us are beasts. One is the guy who gets happy if he ever gets a 1.0kd. He'd take all the deaths out the pool by himself.

Was hoping "Survival" would be a horde mode. Disappointing.

Sure, or at least a twist on a game mode that isn't seen in other shooters. Control was "new" enough for me with D1.So you want Bungie to establish a brand new never been done before PVP mode?

I think asking for any new PVP mode in any shooter that is completely original is almost 99% not going to happen.Sure, or at least a twist on a game mode that isn't seen in other shooters. Control was "new" enough for me with D1.
Every mode they showed in D2 so far are just clones of game modes from other games

What "new game mode" could be made that hasn't been done? Besides, Rift was pretty terrible, and I don't think a lot of people liked Supremacy.

Every shooter is going to do a variation of other shooter out there.
Are we getting Clash or Supremacy back? How many modes are at launch?
FFS I don't think it's unreasonable to expect something new in regards to game modes for a brand new FPS sequel.
Again, I think interesting twists on existing game modes can suffice. These are just straight up the same. Rift was just a shitty version of Assault from Halo, and Supremacy was just Kill Confirmed from COD.
Completely original game modes for shooters are indeed hard, but sometimes small changes to existing game modes can make large impact.
For example, Strongholds in Halo 5 is a game mode with 3 plot zones, but plays completely differently from something like Domination in COD, simply because you only score points if you hold 2 or more zones.
Reintroducing FFA and 6v6 on paid DLC does seem likelyGotta wait for the $20 "expansion", bruv.
Once again, Bungie doing things that don't make sense. Maybe I gotta wait on DLC for it as well.
But... isn't that exactly what they do every time? They put a twist on an existing game mode and call it something else. You're just boiling it down again to the mode it put a twist on. Your example is basically Zone Control from Destiny 1.
Haven't played the beta yet, but echoing what I've read the TTK looks a hair too high and overall it just looks kind of flat. Rifle combat with some high jumps. Not sure about the weapon changes to power weapons for everything. Wasn't much variety in what I just watched.
"4v4 just like everything else in Destiny 2"
Fuck.

So Titans can form a barricade and Warlocks can heal or power up their teammates, and Hunters can...roll away?
Admittedly I didn't use the Hunter at all sooo is this as crappy as it sounds in comparison to the other two?
