I wouldn't get your hopes up. They don't generally arrest people for this stuff for no reason. That being said, hopefully the charges turn out not to be true.

Precursor's going to have to ramp up a friendly PR campaign to put this behind them.
All it takes is one wrong torrent.
Edit: So Loli is considered illegal in Canada AND New Zealand? Man, America needs to adopt this asap.
but isn't the distribution and consumption of child pornagraphy is part of what causes it to be produced?
It happened to me once. In the days well before torrents. Once I realized what I'd stumbled on, I deleted that shit as fast as I could. I wish I could expunge it from my brain but it'll always be in there. How many time in my youth did I open a video from a torrent, thinking it was a movie and bam child pornography. Its one of the many reason why I dont go on torrent softwares anymore.
will they add his bail as a stretch goal?
I don't know man. This guys getting charged for possessing, making it available to others and accessing it. That doesn't sound like an accident to me.Or one trip on 4chan or even Reditt. There was actually a case in the USA where the guy was let free because he proved that having Child pornography in your cookies is not a crime because you could get it from anywhere, from a Pop Up or a wrong click. So its not a crime to visit 4chan for example, but if you actively download image from the website that are illegal, then you can get busted.

My guess is that the radio host was just referring to public opinion.

The curse of Eternal Darkness 2 continues...

one count... that's curious. not that one count shouldn't be illegal and justification for arrest, but when does someone who looks at child porn only ever have one instance of child porn on their PC?
I mean, presuming he hadn't tried to delete what he had and failed to get everything.
that it's only one count makes me really want to hear more details before I start forming my opinion on anything.
and no, I have no interest in the game.
Is there a Firefox add-on that just blocks all those illegal websites? Can the FBI help me out here?Or one trip on 4chan or even Reditt. From what I've seen on documentaries about this the authorities don't tend to waste their time on one time downloaders who might accidentally open this stuff. They're more concerned with pedobear rings and people who might be contributing to the content as well. Most of the people arrested have been under surveillance for a while and possibly been in contact with these pedobear rings which is why they came under the radar in the first place.
How many times have you been convicted for possession of child pornagraphy?
I'm glad you were able to beat the charges though. The "It was a pop-up" defense tends to not work for many other offenders, though I'm sure they all try it.

This isn't some random background artist that recently joined the company, it's the co-founder. No friendly PR campaign is going to reverse this.
Precursor wasn't able to secure crowd-funding for their game before this incident. This is just the final nail in the coffin. They're better off disbanding at this point IMO.
What makes me wonder though how fast he was fired. They either don't believe in the "innocent until proven guilty" shenanigans or they know more than what has been publicly stated so far.
The police will have to present evidence of whatever they accused him of and I highly doubt any police officer or anyone else would risk planting child porn on this guys computer. You'd have to be a fool.first superdae and now this guy? It almost feels like if someone has a dispute with whoever, they can hack their pc and put some underage porn for the cops to find. I think that's more believable then a grown man with kids to actually be distributing that shit. I definitely don't believe it in the case of superdae.

It was in my youth, hell I was on Kazaa if people remember this nightmare of a program. Canada is way way way more active online now.
Holy shit.will they add his bail as a stretch goal?
LolBut I've done nothing wrong.
Conspiracy nonsense. They're a company that has bad enough pr because of one of the founders, of course they're eager to distance themselves from a suspected paedophile.
When is that kickstarter relaunching?

Some of the ideas need time to mature.

Wait you were accused of the crime?
Cops plant Cocaine on cars all day, sure in a computer its trickier because you can see "Well this file was create 2 day after I was put in jail." but its duable if you know what to do.
Dont forget that they Sillicon Knight do owe about 2 million to the Ontario governement and they went bankrupt and now most of the staff now work across town in a new location...
I don't think one count specifically means one piece of material. The accusation of distribution implies he had a significant amount for example.
legally considered innocent. we don't have to apply the same standards a court of law does, nor do we have to agree with the final ruling. I want to hear more before I decide for myself, but I'll make my own mind up, and I won't have to wait until a jury decide. he's either guilty or he's not, and whatever a court decides won't change that. What a ridiculous conspiracy theory.
Listen, the guy IS innocent until proven guilty, but let's not pretend child pornography officers are targeting Precursor Games because of a government subsidy.

No, I'm saying that because I did not get arrested. The canada is looking more online now, and we do have stuff like Bait and all that, but me not getting caught for a accidental torrent, do not mean that other do not. Not all murders are resolved too.
