The soundtrack was of note too - some of the tracks were hard rock/metal operatic with electric guitars.
Some of the animation work was delightful as well - climbing on a back of an ogre, the thing would try and shake you off - and would often end by falling backwards with you attached to its back. Then there's the straight up drop kick
or the pawn using their shields to catapult me into the air so I could slash at a flying griffin.
DD at the time was a delightful mix of Capcom gameplay, production values, and just the right amount of cheese done with a lot sincerity.
