Did we have a boxart yet?

Seems like this will be it, unless it's placeholder:

Same boxart as PS3/X360 versions. Tbh I didn't even know this was coming on disc as well, thought it was digital only. So hyped :D. Just one month left!

Late to conversation, but yeah play however you want and don't get wrapped up on min/max-ing on your first, second, maybe even third playthrough. Just have fun.

As others have said, extensive min/maxing is not terribly worth for a regular game. However, I do feel that it is important to mix Vocations, and not stuck with just one, because:

*You can get different Augments, that otherwise wouldn't be available.
*It does help to spice up the overall experience.

Paying a bit of attention to your main pawn, is relevant as well.

Looking good. I particularly like the draw distance, these days I find short draw distances (even if the game makes up for it in close-up detail) increasingly distracting.

I was lucky enough to get the chance to record a couple of short videos of the game.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WHegzVujqE - Video guide on how to collect apples.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2v-FYCN72M - Combat montage.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SrIFyfHTpU - Sorcerer spell montage. 60fps bolide!

Did I mention 60fps bolide? Because I was lying! When playing the game it's actually 144fps bolide! *swoons*

It's a fucking sin this amazing game never got an actual sequel (I'm curious about the MMO like anyone else, but that ain't a sequel).

Somehow Maelstrom looks a bit less impressive when it's not dragging the framerate to a single digit while you're near it.

Goddamn can't wait to go dump another hundred hours in BBI. Is it january yet?

Playing as a sorcerer was so much god damn fun. Yeah, the higher level spells took forever to charge up/cast, but when you got one off it was absolutely glorious.

Any big youtubers or twitch streamers that might be open to make videos for this? It would be really cool to see ENB or Lobos Jr. play, but I'm pretty sure they've both said they tried vanilla DD and didn't like it :(

Yep. The spells shown here actually look powerful and grande.

Not only that, but the way the spells behave is pretty intricate, and there's great attention to detail. Most other RPGs would have powerful spells simply be "Deal X damage with Y radius at position Z." and that would be the full extent of the spell behaviour. But using bolide as example, each meteor hits a specific spot which only deals in that specific area, and it'll make enemies fly around as they get hit by the meteors, or set enemies on fire which will completely alter the behaviour of that enemy. Or seism. where the main part of the spell is the ground erupting, but the small rocks falling at the end of the spell can also hit enemies and deal some damage. It feels very dynamic.

And as you said, the spells just look awesome visually. I also like some of the minor details, like with levin (lightning) where you hear thunder in the distance a few seconds after casting the spell.

I'm just making myself more and more sad that we won't get a Dragon's Dogma 2 (at least not any time soon) to build upon the amazing combat engine they made.

What hardware did you run it on to push 144fps? Nice to know it basically runs unlimited!

i7-4790k, GTX 980, 16gb ram, and I play at 2560x1440 resolution. I think the lowest I've seen the framerate go (outside recording) is 110. I haven't been playing with a fps counter all the time though, but the game has been absurdly smooth.

I wish they would upgrade the textures

Textures have been upgraded. It's apparent in this PS3/PC comparison video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UnxufWhAnQ

Couldnt wait and finished the PS3 version. And holy fuck the story isn´t that bad as some people said, there's some pretty cool stuff there.

And after playing RPGs for more than 2 decades, this is one of the best yet.

If Capcom decides to make a real sequel, there's potential here to make one of the greatest RPGs ever.

It's not that bad, it's just stock and uninspired.

Happy to see that Min-Max infographic, that definitely makes the game more interesting to me.

Not that I don't mind doing that stuff in games like Dark Souls, but it can definitely be a slog at times and I don't have the time anymore to replay games that are dozens of hours long just to try out a new class.

I think I'll definitely want to pick this up on PC. I tried it out for an hour or so on the PS3 and I just couldn't get used to the horizontal letterboxing on the top and bottom of the screen, it just felt too claustrophobic. As long as the PC version doesn't have that limitation I'm all in.

How will I be immersed without the cinematic blur filter, frame rate & aspect ratio? On PS3 distant vistas look like a painting /s

Has there ever been a game where people have managed to transfer PS3 saves to PC? I've spent 100 hours with Dragon's Dogma, I don't want to start from square one again.

I min-maxed as a caster because it made me squishier intentionally. Even at max level the result of min-maxing as a caster will increase the difficulty of BBI considerably (and only really make your attacks slightly more powerful).

So yeah, if you want a challenge, it can be fun to min-max purely for the sake of providing some stricter build control (particularly with regards to Health/Stamina pools).

The Steam equivalent of the drunk friend who keeps offering to pay your tab all night.
I hope when the game comes out someone makes a detailed explanation of the systems in the game and what to do, it was the only way I could get into the first dark souls initially and I fear this game will have the same "problem"

For you.
That's tempting, but not sure. They've already got Resident Evil 0 up for purchase I think.

Yes, but that isn't going to be on the winter sale. I'm thinking they didn't put the game for preorder yet because they are holding off until the sale to have like a 20% discount and get a immense crapload of sales out of the gate. The fact that they recently fixed the unavailability of the game in Asian countries also supports this theory.
