They changed things this year. Being top 2 in a region doesn't automatically get you into Capcom Cup anymore. Same with winning a Premier event. Outside of a few qualifying at the end of the year(all the Regional Finals), being the previous CapCup champ, and EVO, it's straight up this year. Whoever has the most points gets in, end of story.

Unlike last year where it seemed the goal was to get more global representation, I think this year was more focused on getting the best overall players. And I much prefer that.

Oh! So regional points are just to qualify to the regional final?! Nice.

Thanks for the offer man, but I think I'm gonna hold on another fighter just now. I did some research and I'm not convinced I'd latch onto either franchise. Next game on my horizon is maybe Arika, but that might be a lengthy wait.

Yeah Chicago is awesome. Has both Iron Galaxy and NRS there, plus its home to Frosty Faustings every January which is a tourney that caters to not only mainstream but a shitload of niche poverty fighters plus old school games like TVC and Darkstalkers. Literally a feel good venue that celebrates something for anyone who ever liked the genre. Plus right down the road 30 min away is Galloping Ghost Arcade which is the biggest arcade collection in the country where its play all day. Plus they have venue rooms to rent and stream, weeklies and one of the strongest scenes around for several games.

I wouldn't mind living bout an hour outside Chicago where I know of a voltage station I could work at. Be a great area to hang out with like minded nerds and to grind for top scores at a major local venue on various bullethells.

Don't forget that it's the home of pinball as well!

The game isn't dead but because it doesn't have the "centralized" online structure that GGXrd does, I feel like you have to find a haunting ground for the community (facebook, discord, a forum) and get consistent games through there. The good thing about this is though that you'll have access to a much more consistent online experience with people who can help you get better too should that be a goal.

SEAM, if I had to take a guess. There's an actual convention there, GameStart, and companies have been moving to get more into Asia proper for the last few years. Singapore obviously isn't China, but there's a large Chinese community in Singapore, and the primary reason why Singapore is it's own City-state instead part of Malaysia.

Every time I watch the game, something else is going slightly off the rails. Every time I open twitter, there's a new bug, glitch, or spiderman infinite waiting. Hell, the hitstun lock bug was something I saw on stream at SCR and was like "hope that doesn't turn into something" but it did.

Just saying, if an ASW or NRS or Namco game came out looking like this, it wouldn't be a bunch of people going "but the gameplay is fine." It'd be laughed out the room as a serious fighting game even if it got fixed.
