Those pot bonuses will go away if they don't make new games, which the big boys aren't doing right now.
I do think we're headed for a downturn, but not a new dark ages. We got enough folks to keep things alive for years- and we are going to get new games. As long as SF5 gets the 09ers and a new crop, things will be fine long-term. And yes, alt-fighters need SF to do well, because folks get tired of SF eventually and look for new games.
I do think the PC is going to be important next-gen for FGs. That's the next step. It's a big reason I"ve supported Skullgirls despite thinking it's mediocre.
Conversely, do too many new games hurt the industry? People are invested in what they are invested in. They give the new game a twirl and then toss it aside, probably not investing in DLC or later iterations either. We still see WB, Capcom, ASW, Namco and more sponsoring tournaments to this day.
And the big boys are making big games. Injustice is coming out this year, Namco put out both a Soul Calibur AND a Tekken game last year, SFxTK came out last year and we know Capcom has 2+ major fighting games in development. I think there is some truth to the genre being saturated right now, but it's more of a problem for publishers than it is for consumers.
I also disagree that PCs are the future. Again, a logistical nightmare when it comes to also needing a kb/m to set up everything and much more. The idea of fighting games on PCs will become even more ridiculous as Sony (and maybe MS) introduce more streamlined distribution platforms on consoles, blurring the lines between what you can do on PC and what you can do on consoles. Not like it mattered much because the market is on the consoles first anyways. But Capcom have already said they don't see themselves releasing fighting games without PC ports in the future, so that's hope for PC gamers (alongside the architecture of next gen consoles being port-friendly).
Hey Enzo IFL is actually on Hiaus, though we do have stuff in the works for season 2!
Hope everyone enjoyed this weekend though. Final Round was awesome for everyone that was at the event!
Will update OP when I get time, thanks.
Oh man, haunts is killing me
This is even funnier knowing haunts is a Capcop.

In case you missed the news: Vxg Casino royale Main Event @JWonggg v @SanfordKelly v @IFCYipeS in Battle of the Gods 50k Money Match MVC2!!!
That... is a lot of money.
Remember, VxG is being funded by their government. I'm sure the budget given to support the tournament is like 7-digits, 50K is nothing.
Thats a fucking insane amount of money, I wouldn't date guess that high.
Goddamn every time I hear about VxG money hats I just keep thinking about how terrible of an investment it is and how there are a million better ways to spend that marketing money.
