Fighting Games Weekly | April 1-7 | And after 0-3, he has risen

The constantly bodying by ChrisG has leveled up NY. Even if they don't all use top tier teams, they basically perform the same as everyone else (which is getting top 8 at a stacked major). If Yipes played at NLBC more his play would've improved as well especially in a tournament setting.

Norcal needs to overhaul their team selection greatly. They basically are in a vortex of playing against the same old meta game over and over again.
I was really happy to see so many Morridooms at Final Round - people are actually trying to learn the real top tier, which will force people to actually have to adjust to it in their local scenes. (As long as good players pick it up.)

Yeah, I'd love to see Drew Grimey at more events. And you're right, Moons and RayRay both performed really well this weekend. New York is the place to beat right now.

Could've sworn that was the case for awhile now.

Woops that was Chris G.

But seriously, no doubt that NYC is top dog in Marvel now.

Watchmen isn't part of the normal DC universe though. I'm assuming that's why they're not included.

Yeah it's a separate thing, so that's why I highly doubt he's gonna join the roster. In some very slim chance he's one of the unrevealed on disc characters or becomes one of the DLC characters, I will buy the game in a heartbeat.

I really dislike the "We don't want to pay for a new version!" thing. This came up with Skullgirls, where people were going to be upset if they labelled a post-DLC update with 4 new chars as "Skullgirls 2." Yes, there are specific cases where there should have been a X-Pack instead of a brand new IP (UMvC3), but the most important thing keeping more FGs being produced isn't how many people enter EVO, it's how many people buy the game. (And in fact, I think MadCatz is actually the most important force w/r/t the tournament scene, since they actively benefit directly from having more players in the competitive scene, since they sell the peripherals and aren't locked down with a single IP.)
I definitely agree with you here. But I understand the casual player being burned by it. If it's something they stopped putting time into quickly (the case for most that buy fighting games, or any game really), the iterative model really isn't a good value proposition compared to say Call of Duty, which gives everything a fresh coat of paint and rebuilds every aspect of the game from the ground up every single time, yet retains the core mechanics. Those are your competition on the store shelf, and is what's forcing the $40 price point today.

This entire post is full of fact. PR Rog is pretty equipped when it comes to characters he can flip between.. but he doesn't. I made a post earlier in the Final Round thread talking about how players need to explore different options but keep trying to counter MorriDoom in the framework of their existing teams. People are scared of change or innovating, look how long it's taken for RayRay and other to even begin considering replacements. People can get Chris G on his toes at NLBC, and that keeps the hunger that Sanford has been complaining about for so long.

There's always NCR to show off all the sleepers who can't exactly travel everywhere. :X

This needs to be bold. So true

If you're planning to have large add-ons for your game, adapting a Blizzard-type Expansion model would (imo) be the best way to go about things.

Can't do a Blizzard model without having a Blizzard-like income, but I agree. It's kinda tough to build compelling content for fighting games though.

Fighting games are in a weird place.. I'm anxious to see what Capcom will do with their next big game in the face of games with increasingly strong featuresets and value propositions like P4:A, TTT2 and Injustice. They need to start investing more money into this genre instead of spreading it thin elsewhere.

Wow, there was like no work gone into this. May've well been a forum post or a tweet.

PurpleAkuma: Well you guys just announced the update to SFIV. It will be coming to PC right?
Sven: Platforms will be announced at a later date. It's not something we're prepared to talk about right now. Sorry.

That's such a weird response. Porting SF4 to Next-Gen as a downloadable title would be pretty sick, and help keep the game alive as people more off of their PS360s. But probably just "nothing to see here."

sven might as well be a irc bot who says one of the following after a question:
no
not at this time
will see
id like to see that
it's not in the cards
if the fans demand it
we have nothing to announce at this time.
Highly unlikely
It's not that easy.
Maybe one day, but today is not this day.

Nuki's a treasure. I sure wish I knew what the hell he was saying, though.

If anybody wanted to check out this video to see Saki, there's a section that starts with her about 27 minutes in.

Thye need to invite him to do commentary in EVO 2013. You don't need to understand what he says just get hype whenever he starts shouting and hyping any moment in a match.

It's not a weird response when you consider how many platforms SFIV is on. This is not the stage at which you announce platforms anyways, we'll probably get that at an EVO panel.
