I'd like to see support for the G25 as much as the next guy, but really, the ball's in Logitech's court, and has been for ages. They've understood how the 360 handles ffb for what, four years now? If they wanted to do something about it, they've had ample time to do so.

No.

Logitech could make a new wheel that supports XID, but they can't update their old wheels to support XID. How would they do this? Firmware update to the wheel? lol

As I see it there's two options: dongle or 360 firmware update that supports HID.

EDIT - of course Logitech could make that dongle...

Yeah, I actually do know how I feel about SUVs in mah Forza: they're shit and I'd like nothing more than for them to GTFO.

It's not the end of the world, though. I was more interested in the new race cars, perhaps Formula racers of some sort.
Hey, I was with you the first time! I liked them in PGR2. I'd never in a million years choose to race one, but being forced to... I actually thought it was pretty fun.

At the very least, it should make for a hell of a showcase for their new tire deformation tech. :lol

Che is slightly hyperbolic in his support or forza, but I like the fact that turn10 has a dedicated dude to manage the community. Tons of GT fan sites and forums have sprung up, I think turn10 recognized this and I applaud their efforts to interact with the fans.

Well if he's the community manager then being hyperbolic is part of his job description :lol

One new thing Dan mentions in the interview is new types of cars: SUVs, econo-minis, new race car classes, etc.

Not sure how I feel about SUVs in mah Forza, but I'm getting PGR2 vibes from the wider array of vehicles, and that can only be a good thing.

If they bring SUVs but not my beautiful (OG) Scion xB...

GAH!!

So...a broad overview:

Car content:

Most of the tuner cars are gone, with the exception of the Mugen Honda Civic and Integra and the Mine's R32 and R34 Skyline. Thankfully, that means the awful tuner car liveries are gone too.

For BrianJ:

1971 Skyline 2000GTR
R33 GTR

No R35 GTR, because they are a bunch of twatwaffles. Apparently the GTR team is independent from the rest of Nissan on many levels, one of them being licensing. The only way they would allow us to use the R35 was if it had no damage, no rollover, no custom wheels, no custom parts that improved performance, no painting, and no livery. So we said no thanks.

I think that's a net +1 to the Skyline count.

The usual suspects have also been added:

Corvette ZR1
'09 Cadillac CTS-V
370Z
Reventon
Ferrari California
Evo X
GR STI
Camaro
Veyron

etc....

If you like your wheels old school:

Fiat 131 Abarth
2nd gen Toyota Celica Supra
250 Testa Rossa
Aston Martin DB5

If you like shitboxes:

Versa
Yaris
Aveo
Xd

If you like Smokey and the Bandit or Knight Rider:

'79 Camaro Z28
'87 Firebird
'88 Camaro IROC-Z

If you like trucks:

Rang Rover Supercharged
Saleen S331 Supercab
Ram SRT10
Audi Q7
VW Toureg
Porsche Cayenne

If you like Italians:

Alfa 8C
Alfa Brera
Alfa Mito
Fiat 500 Abarth

If you like race cars:

Aston Martin Prodrive DB9s
997 and E92 BMW GT cars
Porsche, Acura, and Mazda LMP cars

Other interesting stuff:

ST205 Celica GT4
RS200 Evolution
'69 Dodge Charger Daytona
AMG SL65 Black
Renaultsport Twingo

Meh....that's all I can think of off the top of my head. If you ask about a specific car it may jog my memory.

As far as tracks go, the only big licensed one we added was Le Mans. Fujimikaido is back though and pretty cool, and we have some imaginary tracks that are a huge improvement over the older stuff.

The big change to the Livery Editor is that all cars, including race cars, are paintable now. Black on black on black Ferrari Prodrive 550 GT1 racecar looks awesome. That is all.

As far as rollover goes, what you saw in the first video is pretty hard to accomplish. It won't be like Burnout where every car to car contact will result in exploding rollover mayhem. It's actually fairly hard to do. So don't worry. While physics compromises were made in order to make the game "more fun" to a wider audience, it's still more simulator than arcade.

The "one button" racing mode is basically massive assists and auto braking. You still have to steer and hit the gas, but it's designed for super casual quasi car guys that just want to race a pretty car around a track. All assists can be progressively turned off if you like.

Customising has a new "quick option" that allows you to set a PI limit, then bias it in favor of speed or handling, and the game will select a set of upgrades for you. Should make getting a car tuned for a PI limit race easier for the uninitiated.

The DLC plan is for 10 cars a month for the next year. Some of the cars will be things that didn't make it into the release version, like the Ford Escort RS1800 - some will be new cars we haven't seen yet, like the Corvette Gran Sport. I haven't the slightest clue what the track DLC plan is.

That's about it for now off the top of my head that might be interesting to you guys. Cheers.

Re' R35 in GT5 said:
Logical conclusions one could make:

A. GT5 won't have damage
B. Every car in GT5 except the R35 will have damage
C. The GTR teams makes an exception for PD because they are BFFs
D. GT5 doesn't come out until after the R36 GTR debuts and they don't care about the R35 any more.
E. Africa.

It will actually be fascinating to see what happens. For FM2, Nissan actually paid Turn 10 to have their cars be "featured" in the game (that's why the Altima and Sentra were added, and one of the tracks has much Nissan signage). The prevailing feeling was that Nissan didn't really get their money's worth.....so maybe they're mad at Turn 10

No 24 hour races if that's what your thinking.

Other things that got cut:

Weather
Night/day
Active aero (again!)
Widebody kits with 12 inch wheels
Some really cool driver animations
Some digital gauge animations
Custom underbodies (with rollover comes undercarriage modeling - unfortunately, all the cars use a generic layouts, so sometimes they are wrong; like the Lamborghinis have the transmission rearward of the engine instead of infront, etc.)
Super high level of detail car models in replays (Currently the super high detailed models are used in the UI homespace/garage, thumbnails, livery editor, and photo mode).
No exposed suspension cars like Ariel Atoms, Lotus 340Rs or Caterhams, even though T10 owns PGR and they had the tech to model working suspensions.

Most of the cuts came about because there is immense pressure to hit the release date. There are careers on the line with this one, because FM1 and FM2 were so late. There WILL be a game called FM3 ready to go for October, the only question has been what kind of game it will be.

No WTCC cars,

There will Australian Supercars though, both Holdens and Fords. And NASCAR cars in all their asymetrical glory

Oh yeah. Fox body '93 Cobra R - in.
The new Focus RS and the Fiesta.

Others I forgot to throw in there:

AMG ML63
Aston DBS
Alfa Giulia Sprint
510
G8 GXP
Evora
135i
E60 M5
M1
X5 4.8i
Z4M Coupe
'94 Miata R-package
'78 Firebird
Viper SRT10 ACR
300C SRT8
Challenger SRT8
'09 Fit Sport
6th gen GTI
Scirocco
Volvo C30 R-Design
Mazdaspeed3
Citroen C4 VTS
IS-F
A4 Touring Car
C-Class Touring Car
Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe (might be DLC, can't remember)

Stuff coming in DLC:

Lancia 037
Corvette Grand Sport
ST165 Celica GT4
Escort RS Cosworth
SLR Stirling Moss
'10 Shelby GT500
Murcielago LP670SV
RX-3SP
Starion Turbo
MR2 Supercharged
'10 Boxster S
Panamera
599FX
'64 Impala SS

Re' community video said:
Okay....so, the video.

One of the community coordinators is a member of Team Blackjack, who do really cool drift videos using the existing physics engine. T10 took one of their videos and said "Using our tools, turn this up to 11". Unfortunately, it was turned up to Ludicrous Speed. Every single car guy who saw the video hated it. Everyone was overruled by upper management on the basis that if the Team Blackjack videos were good, then this would be even more exciting, and they made it a centerpiece of the E3 presentation.

Most of what was in the video is possible with the game physics engine, if you have the tuning and driving skill to pull it off. The egregiously silly stuff was....shall we say, "tuned" for the video.

Fear not for the physics. Although there were compromises made in the interest of playability and accessibility, I think that the car dynamics will be pretty satisfying for you guys. The people that are largely responsible for the physics behavior are of a much higher caliber "car guy" then last time, and include a rally driver, a very experienced autocrosser, and a guy who used to design suspension bits for H&R, so I think as much as it is possible for a title like this, the physics will be on lockdown. I'm sure people will find things to nitpick with, but that's just the reality of designing a huge title meant to appeal to a very wide base of people in a compressed amount of time.

I'm biased in the sense that I remember that damn SUV class giving me the most Platinum grief in all of PGR2. Still, you're right in that they were fun to drive, in a goofy "Hey look at me throw two-and-a-half tons of mass around this hairpin at vomit-inducing speed" kind of way.

Heck, come to think of it, this might not be so bad after all. With Forza's physics and now ROLLOVERS, just imagine the carnage! :lol

As for the stuff your other post mentions being cut, much of it sounds reasonable and believable, but still disappointing, especially the homogenized underbodies and cut weather and day/night cycles.

Fujimi Kaido returning is fantastic news, though, as is the variety of new cars included. However, I said it before with FM2: Where is my Pagani Zonda F?!

I'm suspicious that Turn 10 would let a dev get away with revealing so much this early, so much of this could be bunk (hopefully the bit about all the cut content).

Rumors smell like bull to me, at least the R35 part because in NFS Shift there is damage and possibly rollover, and the R35 is there with a livery, thankfuly che can help us here. I dont trust it though. Its a bit like that le mans FM3 picture we had a while ago.

Well, according to the 'rumor' there will be our Supercars featured, both Holden and Ford

No.

Logitech could make a new wheel that supports XID, but they can't update their old wheels to support XID. How would they do this? Firmware update to the wheel? lol

As I see it there's two options: dongle or 360 firmware update that supports HID.

EDIT - of course Logitech could make that dongle...
My point was you can only lay the blame of using a non-standard protocol at Microsoft's feet for so long before asking why Logitech hasn't made any inroads after so damn long. Even in the worst case scenario for existing owners of moving forward with a new wheel, at least it's progress.

If so, just one wish: Please, PLEASE allow me to adjust the camera position. That's the one annoyance I have with most games, fixed cameras that are either too far back, too low or elseway not fit to be driven with. [Edit: By the looks above, at least in multi screen that looks damn well done though]

Oh god, GTA4 was fucking awful for this.

It's even worse than it used to be, because the recent trend is to make the camera very low and forward-facing, which is just awful for seeing anything in front of the car.

Yes, please. Allow us to at least change the height and attack angle of the camera within certain constraints.

Also, che, at what rate is the physics engine running on FM3? Same rate?

Logitech might be waiting for MS to release a HID firmware update - but as long as Microsoft's wheel sells I suppose they just have to accept Microsoft's standard if they want to release an xbox wheel.

Of that list of stuff, this is the only one that makes me go "What the fuck???"

Now, obviously they're dropping in a number of new fantasy circuits (Montserrat looks incredible..was just there six weeks ago) but to only have one more licensed track? Really? No Donnington, no Brno, no Bathurst.

I really find this hard to believe...especially since they're boasting over double the tracks of Forza2 (well, F2 had 14 tracks, but 47 different 'courses').

After watching the GT5 trailer I really do think this will "feel" better, but I'm only going by what I've played in GT5:p.

Having said that, can't fucking wait for both games! :D

The more racing games the better.

Watching the Demo on IGN the dev said that they had more time with Forza 3 but the leaked information from GTXF said things got cut because of time. The GTXF information seems fishy.

I always love me some speculative PC port talk in my console exclusive threads. Oh wait, last time I posted about it I was banned for a month. Why is this allowed for console games, but not for PC games?

There was a live demo at Gamespot just now, hopefully it'll be up there soon. They showed a different track, but I came in too late, didn' thear anything interesting. Besides oct 27 and suvs being in there because of the physics interest.

I hope they really have got the new Fiesta and Focus. The European ones, anyway.

Edit: Oh, yeah, Gamespot vid showed 8 cars in a race. Slightly disappointed but not too fussed.

My thoughts exactly, no reason to have SUVs or trucks in this game.

Unless they are doing a rally/offroad type mode, which would be nice.

Damn you MS for killing Rallisport Challenge and not supporting it via BC on 360. :/

Of course, I wish. I'm going to buy GT5 just for the Rally racing. Wish Forza would have included it, even just with Rally cars.
