Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

I am measuring 8mm of travel, 2mm of initial deadzone and 3mm of dead zone on the end leaving only 3mm of usable travel. I do feel bad for the controller users.
Is that just the game or in all applications and in Windows? I haven't had nearly enough time with the XBO pad so I'm interested, especially as I measured deadzones in my 360 controller a while back, but I think both were around 1mm of deadzone and it was much better than on Dualshock 3.

Less than a month to Gamescom, can't wait to play the game there (I hope the queues aren't that bad) and hopefully we'll hear about some great track additions too (I'd love Fujimi Kaido).

Sorry if this topic has been covered already, but I've pre-ordered / purchased the X1 FM6 1TB console.

How do I / is there a way to upgrade the FM6 that comes with the console to the Ultimate edition without having to wait until Sept 15th for console delivery and a la cart purchases of DLC?

It seems kinda goofy to me that the FM6 limited edition console doesn't have the Ultimate edition content.

Cheers.

So I remember people bringing the F1 game when moaning about the FM6 graphics. Results: 1440x1080p, barely hits 60fps and tons of tearing. =p

Turn10 did a presentation for spanish journalists. Didn't find anything new, expect for one article saying the damage system is a bit improved

in spanish:
Sobre esto, los daños también se han revisado para que sean un poco más "directos" que antes. Ahora, con un nivel de daños realista, los vehículos se destrozan un poco más

http://www.meristation.com/xbox-one/forza-motorsport-6/avance-juego/2033836/2072738

and they showed a "10 years of Forza" clip. I think its new?

Do these images pretty much confirm that sidewall branding on race car tyres still won't be implemented in Forza? Turn 10 used to say that their graphics engine didn't allow it, but I'm wondering if it's due to licencing issues..? It's a shame if so - it's such a small detail but one that adds a lot of authenticity.

Glad the Clio Williams is in! (expected, but still)

Too bad it's most likely the RHD version, as in FH2.

edit: ohh the Golf VR6 is also back from FM4, another great addition for hot hatches :O

I'm suddenly looking forward to taking that VR6 Golf MK3 around the Nurburgring in the rain with 23 AI. Weather will be such a game changer for Forza, I can't even imagine how different it will be.

Don't get too excited - the novelty in pCARS unfortunately wore off pretty quickly, and that game has variable weather that changes dynamically. Don't get me wrong, it's great that FM is finally getting rain, but by being persistent and static it loses a lot of what it can bring to the table, ie unpredictability.

"STOP being excited about FM6!" says Mascot.

Forza is an entirely different beast to pCARS though. I can't take a crappy old car around the Ring in pCARS, nor can I tune it and make it my own. It's a ton more replayable even without weather and ToD changes, so having them feels like a bigger deal in Forza to me than Gran Turismo or anything else.

I played this game at comic con. The employee watching the Forza games said I had one of the fastest laps that he had seen. Raced on the wet track and while it was fun there were way to many puddles and they were way to big. No way any racing event would run like that. It kind of ruined the feel for me. There was one that went across the whole track width wise and it was at least 3-4 car widths. Kinda crazy

Ha ha..! Yeah, sorry - that did come across as a bit miserable. Just tempering expectations.
I agree for what its worth. I've always thought rain, whether dynamic or not, is completely overrated in these type of games. But many people don't play these games for the same reasons as we or others do, so eh.

The Mk I Escort in pCARS is plenty crappy, and you can tune it. :p
(I know what you mean)

I've primarily been playing career in Project Cars, so rain starting meant my entire race was ruined, not because of a loss of control, but because the AI cars weren't affected by the surface changes. So annoying.

Now patched, thankfully. I had a career race at Spa recently and it started raining just as I entered the pits for my mandatory stop, which was nice. Managed to get my strategy changed to wets just in time and had great fun blasting past the AI cars that decided to stay out on slicks for the last three laps. Not all of them did though - those that changed tyres put up a good fight.

The forecast was fog, by the way..!

That sounds so excellent. Are you on PC or PS4? The PS4 version (what I'm on) seems to keep up pretty well with patching, but last I'd checked, it wasn't up to the full bug-list.

Ok, I'm not saying that pCars is fixed by now (far from that, actually), but didn't they fixed that? I'm pretty sure they did.

EDIT: dammit Mascot!

PS4, and yeah, there's still a shed-load of stuff to be patched. The game is pretty solid now though, just lots of minor annoyances. Thrilling races though. Oops - derail!

I have not played Forza 6 yet but as for racing in rain with big puddles?

Look up IMSA Tudor series race a couple weeks ago at Watkins Glen. Raced all day with big pools of water.

I assume you raced on Brands Hatch. And yes puddles form there just like that. A friend of mine has driven the track in those conditions and when I showed him the Forza b-roll footage he said T10 had nailed it.

Yeah just wait till you see how big they are. I really don't think I am over exaggerating. I was kinda stunned by how big they were. I have been to a bunch of races in the rain also.

Fallen Xbot (cannot continue gaining levels in this class)
One of the best tracks in the whole series. Ferrari F355 Challenge showed me the love.

Yeah, I enjoy it quite a bit, but let's get Sonoma too.

And of course positano (no matter how unlikely it is at this point)

cool I'll take your word for it. they said they went to tracks and mapped puddles after rain but who knows. maybe they'll tone it down by release?

Don't think so. It's pretty clear the puddles are "exaggerated" on purpose.

Serious, there's plenty of games with rain already. Try something different.

Yea maybe that's what they did to be different since they could not get to real time lighting or weather.

One more thing I really want this release is a full re-mapping of the controller. My guess is it will not be in since (its never been) and the new super controller uses that as a selling feature.

Im glad that all the tracks from Forza 5 are in but with only 5 location left in the list I think Forza have too many official tracks and not so many fictional ones.

To me one of the things that make Forza special are the fictional tracks, thats was one of the reasons why Forza 5 was so disappointing, I can race those tracks in almost every other game, having nurburgring, lemans and Spa are must but they are not a distintive element any more.
I want Fujimi Kaido, Mapple Valley, Sedona, Rally di Positano, Camino Viejo, etc.

Forza 4 had a balance in this, I hope we get Suzuka and the rest of the track will be fictional.

Yeah, I don't get this either. Fictional tracks are often a lot more fun than real ones, and you effectively get twice the bang for your buck with reverse ribbons. They often look a lot better too, and must be quicker and cheaper to produce than real tracks. With Forza being more about fun driving rather that authentic motorsport racing I'd have thought that fantasy tracks would have featured a lot more than they do. In a serious sim racer real-world tracks make a lot more sense, but not in FM.

Totally agree with the fantasy tracks being both better looking and more fun. It would be boring if real race tracks in general was exclusive to authentic motorsport racers like F1 and BTCC, I don't even like those games. But I don't see the point of having so many of those tracks in Forza and Gran Turismo. I know that it's not uncommon in real life to want to test a tuned up regular car on a real race track, so having a few of those in there makes some sense I guess since they're going for real life cars with physics based on reality. But why have so many of those tracks? I'd be okay with Nordschleife alone to be honest. The rest can be Ridge Racer level of fantasy tracks imo. But maybe it's easier to scan a real race track than make a completely new one that is more fun to drive on? What about using the same track layout as a real track and place new Ridge Racer type of scenery on it, like nice valleys, mountains, waterfalls, beaches, etc - would that be okay legally?
Yes, I miss Ridge Racer :(

Yeah I hope this too, would it be a bad thing if we had 4 locations that were slightly 'out there' whilst remaining in reality......like something from a environment found in a Sega arcade racer to spice things up a bit.

I mean they have said that all tracks from Forza 5 will be include but what actual work will be involved into bring these over??.... I can't image it would be a massive undertaking and just have improved trackside assets, surely the majority of the work load would be on new tracks that weren't in F5??
