Ghost Recon: Future Soldier |OT| The Future Is Here... Finally

Can anyone confirm that the PS3 version has absolute dog turd graphics? Can they really be this bad after the shitty GRAW2 conversion?

Edges everywhere, choppy frame-rate, v-sync issues and the 3D...oh my fuck...The 3D is simply the worst I've ever had the mis-fortune to use.

Trading this in.

On the subject of spawn deaths...

Jumped into a game just now and spent about 2 minutes looking at the tactical map screen while the game was playing out waiting to spawn. As soon as I spawn, I'm shot to death by a Ghost team player. The killcam shows my body loading in, one body part at a time in a Christ-like pose (it's called 'bind' state or something), then seemingly getting shot 'out' of the spawning process. I can't quite tell where I actually spawned either - it may have been in the middle of the map, or at a spawn point with an enemy in proximity.

The same thing happened in the beta. Here's a screen I managed to grab quickly:

Arq0y_xCIAAkY9U.jpg:large

Isn't spawning kind of, you know, one of the main things you need to get right in a game centered around MP? I could maybe understand it happening in the beta, but in the full price product, not so much. It doesn't feel like it's part of the 'growing pains' that multiplayer products go through, either. It feels like there's something fundamentally wrong with the game from a technical standpoint.

It's like this game can't handle too many players spawning at once or something...

I know this game is full of idiots mickenary, but I've never seen a game so bad at relaying information to the player. For such an obtrusive HUD, the game does a fucking terrible job of letting you know if an objective is being capped, or where a downed teammate actually is.

In other news...

Tired of getting spawn camped on Market, and spawn hacking is the worst. Might just go back to one of the old games.

Actually, I will agree with you there. Naturally, I'm taking my extensive time with the beta for granted, so it all makes sense to me now, but looking back on it, a lot of the objectives were unclear and remained so to me for a while. One thing that I think the game needs to shove down the throat of the player a lot more is the Confidence Boosting system. Purely from observation, I can tell that a lot of players have not even the slightest clue that such an important mechanic exists (a mechanic that I'm very fond of, by the way, so good going there, Ubi/Redstorm), but I guess you have to tread a fine line between player initiative and walls of text during a highly tense MP match.

I thought the UI and objectives were clear but I have no idea what this confidence boosting system is.

Edit: just googled it and I knew what it was already. Just didn't know it had such a fancy name

Despite its flaws, really having fun with the MP here. Gonna join that gaf squad thing, my GT is Dronehouse.

Has anyone successfully linked into this"Ghost Recon Network" stats site? It just won't link up for me, but whatever. The stats are so half baked and broken anyway. It constantly is comparing my games played, kills, and games won to others on my friends list - not only are the stats incorrect, but your own stats are so buried - the only way you can see them are by highlighting your OWN name in a live lobby and choosing stats.

The challenge system is also half baked, perhaps broken.

Ubisoft fails at meta-game, community, and support - same thing happened with the Assassins Creed MP games - fantastic games, but everything around them was just broken or poorly implemented. They'll find the time to charge $10 for 3 maps, but manage to leave everything broken.

Again though, when I'm in game, it's bliss.

I'm sync'd up with the GRN, I think. Well, I've input the codes in the OT and successfuly transferred the weapons to the game, so I've done something.

So does this game run in 1080p on the PS3 at all? I keep getting 720p...

Ha. Are you talking about the actual resolution of the game or simply what your TV says you're running at? In a nutshell, the former is shit (definitely sub-HD looking) and the latter is misleading.

Actual resolution of the game. :p I guess I'm definitely not alone then!

how do i join the gaf squad? I can only seem to create one, no option to join one.

my gamertag is Dronehouse in case its an invite only thing

Shit, yo. This thread be dead. Anyway, home time for me. Here's to a night of fun games, competent teammates and manageable rage. Wish me luck!

Sorry guys I've been a bit busy didn't read the thread.

Because of how the GR Squad system works (poorly done to be honest) I have to add you as friends on Xbox Live. Then I can invite you in.

I'm still unsure if there is a way around this, or if other members when they are certain ranks can invite people to the squad.

Eventually I am going to run out of room on the friends list. It's a silly way of doing it. Unless on ghost recon network you can send a request to join? But GR Network is awfully slow and not working 100% at the moment. ( Ghost Recon Squad on GR Network (Probably won't load as it's so slow at the moment) )

So the best way is to add me on XBL.

My Gamertag is Linchy, add me with a message for GAF GR Squad and I will be sure to add you.

GT: Linchy

Either way, I have added - MrCompletely and Barrel Cannon myself on XBL seen as you asked :)

Thanks.

Objective based games that require any degree of team coordination are just going to go away (on consoles at least) most of the people playing this game just can't grasp the fucking concept. If I have the bomb escort me to the fucking objective, and protect me when I'm setting the charge, don't run around the map trying to get pointless kills. This is driving me crazy, whenever I get into a game that isn't a lag fest all the players on my team are fucktards:(

Psssst. Join Squad GAF (if you are on 360).

Maybe we should organize a date/time for squad matches? I've yet to see any squad members online at the same time as me, so it looks like it'll be a challenge getting a full squad to play.

I blame party chat. I know MW2 was criticised heavily for throwing you out of party chat for team games. But by god if team play wasn't stronger than. You could always mute any idiot, and new friends were regularly made.

Probably, the 360 version looks like crap. GRAW (360) looks like potential xbox720/ps4 material in comparison..

Yeah that's the problem with people being in different Countries, and having work etc.

That's why it would be nice to get the squad to a good size, gives more options for people to play with others, and it means less restrictions on time zones etc.

Feel your pain, yo. I was shifting between both ends of the spectrum last night; steam-rollin' and being steam-rolled. This game pushes my rage buttons, but I still enjoy it when everything is working.

A few observations:

1. Flash-bangs can go funk themselves. They seem incredibly overpowered.
2. It's nigh comical how the game can go from being a super competent shooter to absolutely losing its shit when 2 opposing players happen to be on opposite sides of a small piece of cover. INTENSE CROUCHED STRAFE BATTLE! And somewhat related...
3. Where's the blind-fire?

So, I have just received the game (PS3) after some PSN buddies convinced me to get the game. Actually hate Ubisoft (seeing how they seem to hate PS3 owners, but that's another thing..) anyway, I'm not sure whether to open the game or not now. Can someone explain to me how the NO RESPAWN mode works please? Can any mode be played without respawns? Is it just one mode a la CoD?

I'm basically looking for a (future) Socom replacement, seeing as that series is prolly dead now... But respawms, I hate that shit.

They really need to do something about GRFS clunky as fuck UI, its just plain terrible and not easy to navigate. Everything should be easy to follow but nothing in GRFS is explained properly, im left to figure it out by trial and error and by luck.

UI is just a mess, is there even leaderboards in this game? honestly im yet to find it.

also just had a good laugh with friends, i find it so funny ppl dont even know how to quit without the need to dashboarding lol, it even took me a few games to find it.

Gotta say that while playing the campaign solo is pretty boring, the whole thing comes alive in co-op. Had a nice session going last night and it would have been a perfect time if it wasn't for AI weirdness (wouldn't rally at the objective forcing a checkpoint restart) and getting booted from Ubi servers.

There's a really good game in here but it needed several waves of testing and polish.

Game need a patch to fix lag/host migration.

A few tweaks to some things. Some more maps and modes, maybe a better squad system and they'd have an incredible online game. It's a bit thin and fragile at the moment sadly.

fully agreed

way to small portion of maps and modes.

I just find there isnt really alot of Mp Versus content to keep me going for a long period of time, Lack of Tdm wasnt the smartest move when players are almost always lone wolfing. Hate Map packs that split the community up in small pieces, thats why at least an extra 2-4 maps should have been inlcuded in Retail

would love for them to fix a couple of bugs, glitch, framrate and issues with spawning

Yeah, the game just needs a whole lot of streamlining/polishing. It oozes "rushed development".

Hit up the campaign the other day and made it through the first mission... One of the most boring, poorly presented things I have ever had the misfortune of playing, but hey, I think that of 90% of modern shooter campaigns.

Oh, well. Conflict is still muchos funos.

Does anyone know exactly how the 6 free attachment credits via the iOS app works?

Play those campaign missions in co-op if you ever get the chance mickcenary. It doesn't take much for any game to shine in co-op, but I'll bet you'll be pleasantly surprised by some of the things the game does when played with a few human players in the mix. Its a night and day difference.

Edit: That and play some Medal of Honor (2012) if you want to see a very well done modern military campaign.

Thanks for the tips, NullPointer. Can a co-op campaign be done with randoms via matchmaking, or no?

So, I chose the incendiary grenades. How are they?

Really contemplating on getting this game but not sure if I should wait for the PC version to come out or get it for PS3. What do you think PS3 users?

I loved the Advanced Warfighter games, but this game hasn't at all been on my radar until about an hour ago when I decided to check if it was out. It came out like a week ago! I was pretty surprised.

So how's the game, guys? I saw that it's getting good reviews. How's the PS3 version?

I really like it, its a good Socom replacement.
to me it feels like a really smooth Graw 3.

no respawn is alot of fun.

I don't think the game is DOA. I just think Ubisoft spent all its marketing money on AC3. I think the game would be more popular online if it wasn't a Host Migrating frustrating lag fest. I am hoping this shit gets fixed fast, but I somehow doubt it.

I am digging the SP side though. I am playing it on Elite though and some of it does feel cheap. I rage quit before on chapter 3 where
you have to escort the captured VIP out of the container at the oil rig. Every time I try it, I last like 4 seconds. I have no freedom to get to cover or use a frag and I end up getting killed everytime at the same spot just as the escort begins

on all of those scripted slowdown sequences you just have to be accurate and takedown a few guys who are in the same places all the time, make sure you check the second story structures on the right and in front on the one you are talking about in Mission 3, they really arent that difficult...

as far as the game being DOA, it was never gonna blow up. GAF already seemed to not like the franchise beforehand as GRAW and GRAW2 came and went without much fanfare on these boards too. The Ghost Recon franchise is pretty dead as a real contender. They bit off more than they could chew this time around and have made too many mistakes to really get any momentum going, and for that reason they aren't really gonna make a dent in the COD/BF marketshare. This thread will continue being a ghost town.

I am enjoying the game though, primarily playing Campaign the past week or so, havent really touched MP in awhile, but it's met my expectations which were pretty high. I will try to squad up with GAF more once I finish playing around with the campaign.

I would agree that sadly overall interest levels in this game are low.

If this game was patched up, with good support, and a strong community it would be fantastic.

But it does feel like another Ubisoft let down. It makes me very weary of the next Rainbow Six (along with Ghost Recon, my favourite shooter).

I do enjoy it when I play, but it's just difficult to get excited about it when there are so many issues.

GAF squad is very thin, and that is a good proof of this games longevity. As most squads made on GAF are huge and need multiple ones (BF, Max Payne 3 even etc).

Anyone else had their HUD completely disappear during the campaign? Thought I was going through some on-rails section where I didn't have any access to my grenades and just had unlimited ammo with a certain gun, then I ran out of ammo. Super weird.

edit: I just restarted my Xbox thinking it would fix it and it's still gone :/ wtf

You guys do realize it's outsold Max Payne 3, eh? It's had the best EU launch of any Ghost Recon game in the franchise (and maybe NA too, though I don't know that one for a fact).

I agree that chatter on GAF is low.

This game loads way too much. Boot up the game and you have that little loading icon going, then the Kinect how-to screens, then you get the publisher/developer intros. Another load... wait for it... now you get the title screen that asks you to press start to continue. Ok. That brings up yet another load screen that ends up with... wait for it... another splash screen that again asks you to hit start to continue. Finally, a menu screen.

And whats the excuse for the long mid-mission unskippable cinematics? Please tell me the excuse is that I'm a dumb-ass and there is some way to skip them. I know you can skip all the "briefing" videos before starting a mission. But once you're playing you just have to sit through those long satellite overhead map conversations. Brings down the replay quality of the missions.

Also, whoever decided that gunsmith wouldn't be utilized in Guerrilla mode is a horrible person, and they should feel bad.

I still have a GREAT time with this in co-op, but single player and challenge hunting just isn't nearly as interesting or as polished as it needed to be. And really, what is up with the load times? (Xbox 360 version, installed btw)

Edit: One last gripe. I have a Kinect, but I havent used it in quite a while so the sensor is always off. That doesn't stop my Ghost Recon copy from showing me Kinect how-to screens when starting the game, and more annoyingly I keep getting pop-up messages every 15 minutes or so that I should stretch or take a break.

Fuck you Kinect. What the hell did you do to my Ghost Recon?

yeah it's fucking annoying. just a little character customization and weapon stuff would go a long way in guerilla mode. i'm enjoying the game, but it has so many baffling omissions.

Agreed. Mid mission loads where the screen dims and a load screen pops up randomly as you move through a door etc. What is this, PS2?

And the start screen thing actually baffles me. Two "Press Start" screens. What's the point?
