Help me out, GAF. Is it better to spend all my orbs on one weapon or should I level all my weapons evenly? I always am terrible when it comes down to this shit.
If you collect all the orbs chests and are good of getting combos (which earns you more orbs) i think you get enough orbs throughout the game to level up everything.

Personally i started with upgrading The Blades of Athena to the full.

So I just entered the room with the
Flame of Olympus, with Pandora's Box inside it.
How far in the game am I? Could someone give me an indication?

Playing on Titan mode and I just
got Pandora. Saved her from drowning box. Now I'm in a room with Daedalus hanging above us and wave after wave of monsters keep spawning. I cleared like 6-7 waves but I eventually die. Is there something I should be doing or just need to tough it out and beat all the mobs?

About your question:

You basically just have to survive all the waves of enemies, no special conditions to clear the room.

Got past it after like 50 tries. Part of my strategy was to just hang to one side of the screen most of the time. Some mobs won't advance at you if you can't see them.

Then it took me like another 50 tries
to glide down that damn tunnel down the chain, and surprisingly it took me about 10 tries to beat Cerberus. I just brute forced him.

The Aphrodite to Kronos to Hephaestus and back to Aphrodite made me a God of War fan for life.

So much fun and reward ;).

I genuinely felt pity for Hephaestus, and I wasn't expecting to give a crap about anyone in a GoW game.

Man, the final form of
Zeus
is such a pain. I'm playing on normal, and refuse to switch to easy. I don't know how anyone could do this on hard or titan, holy crap.

I don't remember having any issues with that boss. Easiest
final boss
of the entire series, for me.

Yeah, right after I posted I gave his ass a swift kicking. Maybe it's easier for you since you aren't new to the series? This was my first GoW.

The ending was pretty cool, but the flashback part was way too drawn out. I felt like I was just wandering aimlessly.

Amazing game, easily lives up to the hype. I am downloading 1 and 2 as game trials, and will likely buy them.

Sorry for the news-less bump but I happen to have a PSN code from the collectors edition for you EU players out there. It comes with the Combat arena and Dominus+Phantom of Chaos skins. Quote to reveal.

Be sure to post here when you redeem it to let others know!

Nice! Thanks, grabbed it :)

Just started replaying this. My god the visuals are still insane. I really want to see what else the Santa Monica Studios could bring to the table.

Finished my first playthrough a few days ago, this game is incredible. The opening was so impressive and the game rarely faltered, and I've also done the challenges of Olympus for the trophy, much easier than the previous games. I've just got my Titan playthrough and the amazed trophies to get now so I'll hopefully be all done soon.

Yeah the game is excellent. I plan to play through it again after I beat GOW origins.

Just finished my first play through. Amazing and beautiful - right up there with Uncharted 2 as one of my favorites of the generation.

I just beat it and that is my score. It starts off in an incredible way and keeps going at a relentless pace with jaw dropping visuals. I have to say the visuals are the first time where a fantasy game has really started approaching concept art/painted quality. However the PS2 God of War 2 was still more stunning to me in terms of what the machine was capable of and what they put out. They put a lot of work into the look of the boss battles and outer area of Olympus but there are many parts where you can notice some flaws. It doesn't look like a painting through and through. The game kind of loses steam after the gardens of Hera and it seems like they floundered at the end. That's what stopped it from being a classic game. I have a lot more to say about this but I'll probably do it in another post. The story doesn't have the emotional resonance of God of War 2 and this game doesn't reach those heights but I'm not disappointed in the final product. This is a system seller if you are a fan of the series.

The Aphrodite stuff is corny as hell but I admit I am a weak man, I enjoyed it. Unfortunately my Mother walked into the living room as the scene began. She just gave me that look of disappointment that mothers do, I couldn't make eye contact or talk with her for the rest of the day.

Yeah it was embarassing but I will live. I wish there was some sort of notification system before one of these types of scenes are about to start. I was disappointed though that there was no scene with Poseidon Princess. Kratos is such an idiot, leaving her to die.

I feel that Stig Asmussen who was the art director really delivered in terms of art, brilliant moments, and improving some of the gameplay but he isn't quite the game director that Cory Balrog was. He didn't meet the mark in terms of the story, some of the level design, and in general the vision to bring all the elements together. I know that Cory left after the first 8 months of development and you can kind of see that the game falters towards the end.

I have some ideas about a new God of War trilogy involving Thor/Loki and the Norse gods/doomsday of Ragnarok. I think this time it should be a bit more open world and platforming/puzzle based. They should also ease back on the cheesiness, their audience is probably more mature than they suspect.

I beat the game yesterday for the 3rd time on Easy + No Weapon/ Health/ Mana Upgrades and whoa is the game ridiculously EASY on Easy?

My first playthru was on Hard and it was... hard (big fuck you goes to: Hades, Scorpius, Labyrinth Waves Room, Cerberus + 2 Satyrs).

Normal was 100x easier than Hard. Easy is 1000x easier than Normal. You simply don't have to roll/ block/ dodge EVER. Just stand there and mash [].

And the game is still the best looking title on PS3. Such a graphical achievement, much better looking than U3 in my eyes.

Perfect IQ.

Could be worse. My dad entered the room as I was walking around as a butt-naked guy in Heavy Rain. Awkward look.

I think I am almost at the end
I am in the middle of escorting Pandora.
I forgot how epic the GOW soundtrack is and those titan boss battles MY GOD just gorgeous.

Best looking areas:

- Hades, starting area
- City of Olympia
- Chain of Balance
- Hades, the 3 Judges
- The Forge
- The Forum (dat intro cutscene)

I found
Chronos
looking pretty weak (poly-starved). The Lower Gardens and The Labyrinth are just UGLY. Straight from PS2.

Ciyt of Olympia was amazing on a Panasonic Plasma G25, it looks exactly like a painting. Especially the intro with
Gaia trying to hold onto the mountain and Kratos cutting her off
. Whatever the problems with
Chronos
were, my eyes couldn't notice them, an absolutely thrilling sequence and fantastic art direction. Actually it was amazing even before he arrived, while going through the Tartarus area I felt like I was a character in an animated film. They used the background in a really nice way.

I was disappointed in the last areas of the game as well. I really hate boxy, right-angular geometry and architecture for whatever reason and while to say it's PS2 grade is an exaggeration, I was expecting a lot more beautiful areas and architecture in this game based on GOW2. The death of Helios pretty much condemned the game to be gray and boring looking for a good chunk of it.

I hope they have a chance to redeem themselves on PS3 with a GOW game that reaches the peaks of the series. Frankly, I felt that the PSP games did a better job capturing the feel of GOW1 and 2 than 3 did, but maybe that's just because my expectations for 3 were massive and I wasn't sure how good the Origins collection would be.

Hades on Titan difficulty.....a bit of a bastard. I'm particularly dreading that one fight later on where you're in the room with waves of enemies and the floor shoots spikes up...took me a long time on normal and I can't imagine it'll be any kind of a stroll on Titan.

I had problems with the two 3-headed Cerberus(?) on the Titan difficulty; other fights didn't bother me that much. For those spikes, you just need to figure out the pattern, that's all. Playing this game again on my 50'' Plasma, it's just... amazing.

More than 10 deaths on Titan in the spike room for me. Once I was already hanging under the harpy when the last Siren shot that blue magic projectile at me and killed me (I had a sliver of health left).

Feel a lot better about it now, thanks. Yeah the I know what part you're talking about with the two 3-headed monsters, was kind of rough for me, but not too bad.

Shit that doesn't sound so bad, I think I must have died at least 15 times during that part on my first run through on normal.

I suck at this game. :(

I did too, well I still kinda do, but playing through on Titan so far has taught me a few things, such as; blocking can actually be used and be helpful! In my original normal and subsequent easy playthroughs I did nothing but roll out of the way of attacks, but that shit aint happening in my Titan run. I'm finding that you have to block, time it right and get that counter golden fleece blast to knock dudes back, very helpful.

I recently played through all GoW games. Maybe it was just because I directly played 1/2 before 3, but DAMN 3 was so freaking beautiful. It has been ages since a game as amazed me that much. Sadly the last third was not all that awesome anymore, also wish there was a little more variety in environments.

Overall probably one of my favourites on the PS3.

I beat the origins games the other day, I liked them more then I did GoW3. Chains of Olympus was ok, it was a mess story wise but it felt like god of war 1 on handheld which is exactly what I was expecting. Now ghost of sparta on the other hand, was a beautiful mix of god of war 1's story and god of war 2's gameplay. Absolutely loved it.

Fuck that's spectacular looking. If it wasn't for that crate level and the garden shit, this would be a flawless visual experience.
