Anyone else today receive a notice from Chrome that newest version of Image Properties extension needs additional privileges and was disabled?

Yes, D4Danger already told us it was going to happen:

I had to change the permissions of the extension because it now makes an ajax request so if it's stopped working you just need to go in to the extensions manager and accept the change.

sorry about that. The extension does a little more now and it required a change to the permissions.

just uploaded a small update that should help with the file size stuff. For whatever reason it wasn't following redirects so when you look at Threi's avatar (for example) it is pointed to http://imgur.com/rCc6A.png but redirects to http://i.imgur.com/rCc6A.png

this should work a bit better now.

Does Chrome have any version of NoScript? It's the only thing holding me back from switching.

How do I go about showing my bookmarks at all times? Right now the bar only pops up when I click "new tab"

ctrl+shift+b

or just right-click the bar and choose "always show bookmarks bar"

- can anyone recommend an Extension that allows you to download Flash/FLV movies off of websites (ie Youtube)?

I've been using the Easy Youtube Video Downloader. It places a button under each Youtube vid that will allow you to save it in various different ways.

I really want a Chrome extension that works exactly like DownloadHelper. I've never found one yet. DH works in that it allows you to download ANY Flash video sources that are currently running, as well as all the YouTube sources. So I could download videos from TGWTG, Cinemassacre, YouTube, Google Video, Vimeo,
YouPorn, RedTube
, etc and as long as it's not protected with DRM (Hulu, CBS, ABC, NBC, certain YouTube videos, etc...) it will let me download it. I like this because I can watch AVGN or TGWTG videos wherever I want, whether it's on another monitor fullscreen or in a window in the corner or on another computer, at any time freely instead of having to keep the browser open to do it. Just convenience really.

It sits in the toolbar and spins when a video is available. I still have to keep Firefox 3.6 around just for that one extension. But if it ever gets a Chrome release, or an extension exactly like it, I won't need FF around anymore.

I tried looking at the code for DH to see if I could hack my own extension together but it's a shitload lot of code. I don't even know where to start, or whether it uses API's FF offers or can just be straight ported. (Depends on how JavaScript is able to detect a Flash video source.)

Also, I wish Chrome's downloads bar would:
A) Remove finished items a minute or so after they are done
B) Play a sound when they finish
C) Close the bar automatically when all downloads are done
D) Show a progress bar instead of an unreadable pie chart
Where can I suggest these features?

Is there one for all Flash videos, just not YouTube?
Yeah. That's what I was getting at. DownloadHelper on Firefox is amazing at this. I wish the DH team would make a version for Chrome. They're probably FF Fanboys.

check out the speed dial extension (link), i tried it, but after some time with it, i decided that I preferred the stock chrome home screen
I used that for a few months. I had edited my copy to look better to my eyes and work a bit better but one update made it look weird. Eventually I just gave up and created my own version:

The lists are just JavaScript. I'm not going to put in a system for adding and removing. This is just for personal use. The lists of Bookmarks are lifted from the original Speed Dial and are just a hack for now. It works, and that's all that matters.

I also made a "Personalized Web" script to make NeoGAF work a little better for me..
117sc55.jpg

It places the pagination links, forum links and the thread title on the bottom of the screen, and brings in a few of the old Re:GAF .99 design features. The title is there because of how Chrome doesn't display the entire title of a page, and on GAF it's more important. The pagination is just CSS to move them. And the links to other forums are remade while the old ones are hidden. It makes NeoGAF that much more comfortable to use. And of course, the bar is stuck to the bottom of the screen so it's always visible. I also use User Highlighter now. It's awesome. (If talking about making NeoGAF look different is taboo, let me know and I'll edit my post.) I've also used JS and CSS to modify FaceBook to look less sucky and waste less space too, but that's for another thread.

Yeah, I've got Firefox with DownloadHelper ready to go if the video I need isn't on Youtube. There are some extensions for Chrome that will get Flash videos off sites, but none of them are as slick as DownloadHelper from what I can see.

Is there a way to keep the search bar open when opening a new link? I always have to CTRL+F if I open a new page.

Does any of those flash video download extensions work on Flickr videos too?

That always bothers me in Chrome.

Looks really nice.

I only wish there was a good Live Bookmark/RSS solution for Chrome. Everything else is good.

And hey! Yousabletube is updated? Nice!

No idea, which OS? Runs fine on my Mac, hopefully someone can help, but have you tried Wrench > Tools > Task Manager. Anything taking up suspicious amounts of memory?

Question, does the HTML (font) bar appear on the Xbox forums now? This is the only reason I don't use Chrome (happens on multiple forums). With Opera you can force Xbox.com to see the browser as Firefox.

why did they change opening the Bookmarks Bar from (CTRL+B) to (CTRL+Shift+B)?

CTRL+B now does nothing.

What was the rationale behind that?

Is Imgur good as Tinypic? I don't want my images to be broken a few months down the line.

Yeah, it withstands thousands and thousands of hits from being the host of choice for everything on reddit and digg. It's good.

My whenever I click the expand youtube button(not full screen). It completely fills up my chrome window. It kind of annoys me. Is it just my chrome or everyones?

Maybe I missed an update, but I was able to use CTRL+B up until this latest version.

Yep, it was definitely just ctrl+b before.

The rationale may have been that people were accidentally hitting that instead of ctrl+v.

Just installed v6 and it's very sleek and fast. I do however have two guestions:

1. This theme that I have on my comp makes the spoilers impossible to see when I select them. In Firefox I can see spoilered text perfectly fine but not in Chrome. Any way to change this?

2. And also I took a look in my processes and saw that there were 5(!!) Chrome processes. Is it supposed to be this way?

Yes. One for every tab and extension so if one crashes it doesn't bring the whole building down. (Stop thinking in the old world of computing!)

A quick question for the Chrome vets in here. I just switched over from Firefox, but there is one thing I would really like to know if it can be done in Chrome.

In Firefox, when you set up a bookmark, you could go into its properties and set a keyword so that you just type in the keyword in the address bar, and that website loads. For example, I had NeoGAF's keyword set to 'GAF', so I would type that in the address bar, press enter, and the GAF forums would load. Can this be done in Chrome?

Nope. However you can change the title to do something similar.

I've learned to rely on the URL autocomplete myself, so after a little while "n + enter" brings me to the NeoGAF User CP.
