Happened to me the other day. I think I might've been host but I was donging and do to the quick 4sk on BR, I got a message accusing me of molding my game with auto aim or whatever, called me a few names. And yet my aim was pretty bad.

Not a brag at all because I went like -6 the next few games. I think people just want to complain about anything and everything.

The only time I was lag switched though was near launch. Only one guy spawned while we were at respawn menu at start for a good 4 minutes. He got like 88 kills before we all left. I reported it to Kevin franklin. Looked at his profile after, was already like one of the highest SR with a ridiculous K/D ranking.

Going to be hard to kill someone in ZOOOM mode.

Yea how the hell did serenity get past play testing what king of good enough wizards allowed that garbage into a AAA game release? I seriously question the decisions being made with this game cause shit like that would not fly anywhere else n it not only embarrasses but tarnishes the halo name n experience it's decisions like this that can be used as examples of why people are shutting off your game n popping reach in.

When sniping across map at Snipes I agree, but it shouldn't have been a straight line of sight anyways, as its not true to the original. The rest of the map played fine. The dips were hardly as bad as 4's are.*

*Besides Reach's campaign which had some rough spots.

What?

Reach's forge had much more framerate issues.

Question.

I could have sworn we could disable Instant Respawn in multiplayer, but I can't figure out how the hell to do it. I have a bunch of custom games my buddies and I play but we'd like to turn this off.

All I can find are results about the title update fixing instant respawn for multiplayer so it can be disabled, but nothing on how the hell to do it.
 
I'll summarize it.

flinch: makes long range fights inconsistent and frustrating. also allows snipers to dominate.

aas- makes combat frustrating and inconsistent. also just bullshit in general (pv, jetpack, etc).

loadouts- also makes combat frustrating and inconsistent. allows for unfair exploitation (requisition, ordnance priority, etc). plasma pistols and stickies ruin BTB and are annoying to go against.

instant respawn- makes combat a mess and is a clusterfuck.

slow shield recharge- allows for clean up kills everywhere

sprint- double melee, rushing with swords

personal ordnance- negates moving around the map in btb. why go get the sniper when you can just call it in?

in short, IT'S JUST NOT FUN!
I meant Simplex. I already know why those other things stink. Simplex is a great map.
 
Forcing TCKaos to name his new map Petrichor. It's kind of like Beaver Creek, Longest and Sidewinder had a baby with The Pit's eyes.

Who is saying this? Granted, I skim through most of the HaloGAF threads, but the people I see regularly talking about Halo 1 (like Booshka) intelligently explain how a mechanic worked in Halo 1 and why it could improve future Halo games. Not: "OH GOD I WANT TO SUCK THE M6D'S DICK AUGHHHGGHH."


The reason I still give a shit about Halo is because I don't want to give up on it. I also don't automatically hate every Halo sequel simply because it introduced changes; there have been plenty of good changes over the years and I'm hoping to see more of those good changes that improve the Halo formula. Halo 2 was a pretty big disappointment for me, but I won't deny that I had a ton of fun with it, nor will I deny that it introduced a lot of great things (way better map design, vehicle boarding, matchmaking, etc.). Similarly, Halo 3 had plenty of great improvements as well. The problem is that these "good changes" don't seem to happen as often as they should, and since we know 343 is watching this thread, I don't see how Booshka's or anyone else's Halo 1 posts hurt anything or anyone.

I enjoyed reading your posts, but get out of my head!

I'm not 100%, but I think you'll have to download a version of the gametype you want from someone's file share.

No the option in customs works now. It's in like General settings then respawn settings. Or just respawn settings

Should it say disable instant?

If not I have made new gametypes, but even with respawn timers just like before the instant option is still there. Nothing has changed form what I can tell.

I believe it's just a matter of changing the timer. They should work.

If all else fails go into dubs and grab a gametype from there. There's no instant respawn in that playlist.

4 player FFA, Battle Creek, AR/Pistol starts, 32 players, 1st place. Won some stuff, most of which I'll be giving away to friends, except for the Ron Guyatt print. If anyone going to PAX wants the hat, it's theirs.

Petrichor is more or less done. Upper area has a Beam Rifle, lower bridge has Damage Boost, dock has Concussion Rifle. Frags on top bridge, Pulse grenades at each base. It's also good to go for CTF.

Anyone want to test it tomorrow?

Snipe is boring and Binary is lol. Given the actual layout of the map there is no safe position to really keep it secure, so you don't have to worry about being donged on. The highest ground is easily accessed from both bases and the neutral dock area. I think it'll work, and if it doesn't I won't mind changing it.

I still feel like its the one thing they should had copied from CoD - have very specific missions with a clear gimmick in each.

Make it less scripted than CoD but still very focused:

A hog escape mission in the style of halo 1

A air banshee mission - the banshee pilot could be tasked with clearing a route for a set of hogs to get to a end point - or it could be the inverse and your job could be to kill a set of fast moving hogs - again the inverse of this could be cool - escape the banshees.

A tank mission

A sniper mission - again maybe in the style of halo or - or perhaps an escort type mission where you simply clear a route for marines who have to stealth through.

A behind enemy lines mission where you have to scavenge ammo and get to a checkpoint in a certain amount of time

And so on - 15 min quick unique scenarios could have been really fun - especially because they can really let certain sandbox elements shine. I really should do these kinds of posts on a computer rather than a phone because I have tons of ideas But am too lazy to type

Yeah I agree, Halo's sandbox brings so much possibilities.
