Heroes of the Storm |OT3| Chromiehounds

I saw that Kel'Thuzad has had a model since 2014 - why isn't he in the game yet?

I am at 9/14 heroes at level 5, with 3 more at level 4 and 5 at level 3. Almost to ranked! Spending $5 on the Welcome Pack was worth it just for the stimpack. Here is how I feel about the roster so far (just based on my own playstyle and preferences) - if anyone wants to suggest a hero I have overlooked, let me know.

LOVE TIER:
Arthas
Diablo
Leoric
Nazeebo
Thrall
Butcher

LIKE TIER:
Artanis (his dash ability should be cancelable, then I would LOVE him)
Muradin
Kerrigan (I just don't seem to do well with her)
Azmodan
Stitches
Kharazim

If the character doesn't have a slow or disable, I'm not interested!

Kel'Thuzad not being in the game is one of the bigger question marks about the game, honestly.

There's a dude who does surveys every couple months on reddit and just did one recently, and part of that survey centers around who is most OP, least OP, and what hero people want next. I was looking back through them and every single one I looked at had Kel'Thuzad #1 or in the top three.

I can only assume they are holding him back purposefully for a down time or an event or something. Some of it also depends on how they built his kit and how it fits into the roster (redundancy and what not).

I enjoy JHow casting.

Feels like this a lot of melee/short range going into this Alarak. If this were QM Even in Death would get stomped. Maybe not since it's a real game with coordination, though.

I doubt they're saving Kel'Thuzad for a special event. While hugely desired by the HotS community, I can think of only one hero announcement that really drove fans wild and that was Ragnaros. They've spoken before about their design process and how they don't really schedule heroes, and usually just release them as they're ready, and that's part of why we got into such a dearth of supports last year.

So I think it has to be something about his kit. Maybe they're finding a hard time keeping him unique, considering his Warcraft 3 kit seems like a combination of Jaina and Gul'dan. Or maybe they've had a hard time pinning down what aspects of him to bring out in his kit. He might also have a resurrection mechanic, since in WoW he had a phylactery that needed to be destroyed or he would just revive, and one thing they've said they want to avoid in their design is too many heroes with resurrection mechanics released too closely together (as it makes them feel less unique).

Im sad. I suddenly realised im starting to feel like I did 2 years ago when I faded away, and it made me go "oh no...no no"

Just getting increasingly frustrated with the dumb shit people do. Stop going 1v4. Stop going 1v3. Hell stop going 1v2.

Stop dying in lanes 1 min in. Just soak ffs, you dont HAVE to engage. Stop chasing, please stop chasing. Stop ignoring objectives just because you are a specialist, you didnt help and we lost it, and you didnt even get that fucking wall down let alone the fort, so what was the point?

Stop re engaging when im obviously peeling for you. Im trying to save you not indicating that you should go back in.

Fucking hand in your spider butts. Use your nukes. Stop hoarding shit and then dying.

Stop wandering away from the control point to kill meaningless creep leaving the point to be stolen.

Im not even angry, thats the worst part, im just sad because I really like the game, hell I'm liking it more this second time around. Maybe it's a EU thing, as I dont seem to see so much of this in US videos. I understand not being good at the game mechanically, I certainly am not, but people's overall game would improve by 200% just by not doing these little things.

I shouldnt have gotten that stupid hotslogs thing, now im thinking about win/losses again and I wasnt before. I blame Prelude :(

Yeah those games were pretty rough. Following game wasn't better either, a Samuro complained about my Murky pick three minutes into the game and we had a first time Alarak who kept dying. Oh well. That's how it goes sometimes.

probius is fun but quick match fucking hates my life and every time I pick him it's like, two stealthers or 3 ranged assassins after me the entire game.

yeah team games can suck sometimes. nothing feels better than when everything works though, it is just great.

We've kinda talked about this before in this thread where you need to put the onus on yourself at the beginning of a game to dictate the flow and be a shot-caller, etc. Like if you just talk a little bit at the beginning of a game it can help a lot later when you ask for people to not do all of those things you listed.

This is just in theory of course, because gaming communities are toxic af. But it really is the best you can do I've found.

dude I talk like a motherfucker. Im super polite. Nobody anwsers, nobody cares. Anyway I just needed to vent anyway, its probably the same at higher MMRs tbh, I shouldnt fuss over it.

I realized the other day that there is no actual point to getting mad in QP because 90% of the people playing it are probably just trying to get a specific hero to level 5 so they can do competitive.

Meaning your comps are always gonna be filled with people who haven't really played a hero at all.

In my experience, it's a weekend thing. Some teams are really cooperative and talkative and others like to split push and ignore objectives.

Yeah weekends are the fucking worst. Seven game losing streak today. At least one win with Varian and some good Auriel heals from Rhaknar.

has a nice game with Altaire using Auriel, of course a win after a bunch of shit games helped, but she felt great. I was being super aggresive with her instead of playing more like a "healer" like when I didnt like her before. Also we had a good chogall who was doing a ton of dmg and I was almost always at full mana so that also helps :(

lol. But yeah, man I used to be super into support 2 years ago, but since coming back, nothing has grabbed me. Malf was starting to be fun, kinda. Lucio seemed alright when I tried when he was free. Morales was a huge disapoinment. Maybe what I need IS a support that you have to be aggresive with like Auriel. To be continued I guess.

Special snowflakes are in every tier of skills. Don't fuss over it and concentrate on improving yourself. It's the only constant.

Try Kharazim. You get to punch things and heal. Sometimes hard, sometimes often but the only constant is hyper movement, punches and heals.

yooooo Auriel tho, what? Damn shes actually fun. That crystal ult is amazing, not even just for clutch saves either, it negates Triple Tap, that Kael fireball thing, etc. Really cool.

Ok im gonna call it a night with this little 2 win streak to go out on a good note lol.

I think its because I feel myself improving that I notice all these things more, it was the same 2 years ago. Oh, and Khera. Yeah he didnt do much for me. I dont know why, you are right and he should have. Just something about him... I dont dislike him, I would put him in my "whatever tier" along with peeps like Arthas or Raynor. They are fine, and I do ok with them, but I dont get much out of them.

Auriel whipping people into walls is one of the most fun things in this game. Love her to death!

chu8, grubby, and tetcher are playing some unranked/TL games together right now on twitch if you wanna watch FYI

Auriel is probably my favorite support currently. As Scoobs said above, the feeling when you whip someone into a wall is very satisfying.

In other news I started playing Anub'arak for the first time since I got him to 5 forever ago. Holy crap I've been missing out. He's pretty broken with his multi stuns and his burrow is too awesome for engaging and disengaging. And his cocoon ult is hilarious as well. Last night there was an enemy Genji who would run up and trigger his Dragonblade ult only to be greeted by web to the face. He must've been so mad. Love this game.

I have to say, nubkeks' videos are pretty informative. I started following him only recently, but I've already learned quite a few things in terms of who's good on which map, who usually gets banned, etc.
Good stuff.

Haha, RIP. If there's one rule about team games is that you don't play during the weekends. Seriously, don't. I had my most asinine matches always during a weekend, it's like everyone can't play the game anymore. Overwatch is the same. Don't get too tilted over these games, you can't really do much, it's really a shitshow.

Trying Uther on ranked, he is prettyy good at stunt and healing, still there is something I dont like of him, maybe is close combat

Eh, I have trouble landing her whips to a wall, beast I can do is push them away from my ally. I also like resurrection

After watching psalm playing genji, I might finally break down and spend the 10k to play that character. Looks so fun and he does so much poke.

how exactly do i use Zagara's W? lol. i swear i'm doing something wrong. and his first ult. how do i use that. i'm just dropping D's on the ground. if i don't pick the first one is there a point in using it?

Are you sure you mean zagara?

I dont understand the question.

Zagara's W is "Hunter Killer", you cast it by pushing W and clicking the target. It spawns a hydralisk that chases and attacks whoever you cast it on . It's best used to zone enemy heroes in lane or to target priority targets in team fights.

Zagara's first ult is Maw, it casts an AOE circle that swallows up enemy team members to take them out of the fight for a moderate duration. It's best used when the enemy clumps in a choke point or around an objective to buy your team some time to set up a wombo combo, take an objective or to just to run away.

Zagara's D spawns a creep tumor which spread creep around it in an aoe. Creep provides vision, and when Zagara is on creep she moves faster and has higher attack range. It's best used in lane away from where aoe hits (so away from where minions walk/stand), near where you'll be standing (so you get the benefits while laning), and in places where enemies could come to flank you (so you can use the vision to avoid ganks).

No matter what heroic you choose, you should always be placing creep in smart places, it's one of zagara's most OP abilities. In a game with no wards vision is king.

Does that answer your question?

Yeah Auriel is fun. Do people usually go with the cooldown reduction on her heal? I've been going with the 25% damage taken by ally converted to mana, someone on my team just now politely asked why I wasnt using the cd reduction.

edit: heh I dont think I've ever gotten votes from the enemy team before

I generally take the same talent you've been taking, but the cooldown reduction is the most popular. I generally only take the cooldown reduction if I have a good energy battery like Valla or Gul'dan or my team is really lacking any self-sustain.

I really like playing Cassia. I have been tearing it up with her. She's a little squishy sometimes but man is she fun. I also have a Javazon bias.

Preach!

What I especially like about her is how she feels like an anti-dive hero (in addition to being a bit of a dive hero herself). Illidan and Greymane can't go in deep when she's threatening her W -> E combo on them if they do, in addition to the W itself nullifying so much of their damage.

I played 3 placement matches and went 1-2. I kept getting teammates that can't play their role at all - frustrating. The first game 3 people chose mages without banning Anub'arak. -_-

No one was willing to play support except for Dahbomb. And Dahbomb only has Morales and Malfurion. And they banned Malfurion every time. So we were stuck with Morales, whom I am not a big fan of.

I am going to have to spend some gold on supports just so we don't get stuck in that situation again. I'm thinking I will get Malfurion, Lucio, and Rehgar. I know Malfurion and Lucio are good - is Rehgar? Bloodlust seems like a pretty sick ult. I know Auriel is common, but she's not really my type of support character. Anyone else good?

She looks nothing like the D2 character. I didn't even know she was from that game.

This is what we were warning you about. For supports, here's a short list :

  • Malfurion
  • Uther
  • Auriel
  • Rehgar
  • Kharazim

That should give you plenty of space in supports. Lucio got hit hard in the last balance pass so he's not as good as he once was. Most are viable, it's just that some have fewer weaknesses than the rest.

Kioshen

Member
I agree that Lucio can still do it but why put the burden of execution on yourself. I don't think double support will happen where they seem to be at from the looks of it since they are barely able to a single support out of a pick.
