If it didn't have the GamePad and cost $100 less it would be been a huge success.
?
Of course it's subjective. I stated my opinion at first when i said the wiiu was better than the Gc. It's not math. It's an opinion. Number of games doesn't make of break anything. Wiiu got more games than the GC and the N64 overall, but the N64 was a muuuuch better console. GC wasn't. The GC was much better in the sports genre, but is a genre i don't play, so that doesn't matter when i form an opinion. I play RPGs though and the wiiu got some of the best RPGs in years, where the GameCube got a tales game and some Dreamcast ports. Also, Baten kaitos 2 was good.
no real 3D Mario (just accept it)
Sorry OP, no. If you are comparing the Wii U and the SNES to each other directly you haven't played enough SNES games. You'd know better if you had.
I'm glad the OP has enjoyed his console. The Wii U was probably my worst console purchase to date. I think I purchased 5 games total for it. I have owned all Nintendo consoles except for the Wii and this was by far my least favorite of them. IMO Nintendo never truly supported this console, the launch lineup was garbage and 3rd parties abandoned soon after. I truly hope they have learned from this and abandon the gimmicks and give the NX some power because like it or not console specs matter now.
I can play my top 4 favorite games of all time on it (Metroid Prime, DKCTF, Darksiders 2, Arkham City).
I know, but to me, the Wii U feels like it's getting more and more overrated by the Nintendo Fandom each day. They ignore serious fundamental problems with the system, failing to do what it's predecessor did well, all because it has a better Smash and Mario Kart that are played with "normal" control schemes. I take back what I said earlier, the Wii U will get more appreciation as time goes on, it does have great games, and there are some good ideas behind it. But I just wish Nintendo fans would wake up and see just how poorly executed and badly designed the Wii U really is.The idea that the "Nintendo cycle" will result in more people hating the WiiU sure is a bizarre one when just about nobody likes it right now. Like its predecessors it will probably go down better in memory, and if it had a "proper" Metroid game I think more people here would think highly of it.

Dude, the NES has a lot of good games on it!!!I'm 41 and I don't think the NES is all that great beyond nostalgia. There's a handful of games I love, sure (Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Batman etc) but overall it's not a console I still get excited about playing. I always preferred the Master System anyway.
What in the world?but Galaxy isn't very good
Yep.GameCube and snes are their best systems
It's a shame the public voted and said "NO!" to Nintendo's somewhat awkward looking tablet based system, because it feels like the SNES in spirit and offers some of the best gaming experiences since Chrono Trigger, Yoshi's Island and Final Fantasy 6. Having a great time with Tokyo Mirage Sessions, it'll likely be my GOTY, unless Zero Time Dilemma steals that spot.
I mean, if this is what you need to deal with the reality of Wii U, fine.
Nintendo got back to what they're good at: fast paced, fun action with bright appealing graphics, great music, and tons of content/value. No more of this blue ocean, water it down, random tripping, excessive rubber banding, "here's a tutorial on how to use an analog stick" game design.
Smash 4 and Mario Kart 8 balanced out being welcoming for newcomers and satisfying for experts. Wii U has awesome, progressive 2D platformers with tons of content like NSMB U, Rayman Legends, Tropical Freeze, and Shovel Knight. Fresh mashups or refinements of earlier concepts like Pikmin 3 and 3D World. Novel and fun spinoffs like Hyrule Warriors and Capitan Todd. And, for fun, through in some outstanding exclusives in genres the system isn't known for like Bayonetta 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles X.
These games have some common traits. They're easy to pick up and play, appealing, fun, and addictive. That's what Nintendo was all about with the NES/SNES
