Either I made up lies about the Boston Bomber or I fell for someone else's crap. Either way, I have absolutely no credibility and you should never pay any attention to anything I say, no matter what the context. Perm me if I claim to be an insider
So, I'm confused.

Like others have said, Hard Candy is a movie released like six or seven years ago with Ellen Page (Juno/Inception) and Patrick Wilson (Watchmen/Insidious) about a young girl tricking and torturing a pedophile who tries to hook up with her. Is it also a porn series or was there a bunch of straight to DVD sequels to that movie?

If it was a porn series than all you guys talking about seeing it are sick fucks just like the OP... or simply unaware that "Hard Candy" is pedo slang for 'sexy young children'.

Yes, it was a porn series starring Meryl Streep and was the basis for the Oscar-nominated cinematography in the film, Atonement.

What's funny, is that some of these "lawsuits" are going on works that the porn company has copyrighted the work, months after its release, even months after the alleged infringement occured.
Your allowed to do that, that said you can't sue for certain damages and attorney fees as a result, but that's not copyrighting, but copyright registration. The works are in copyright the moment of creation, what you're referring to is the registration, the work itself is already copyrighted.

I am fighting it. Already told them I am innocent and that if they want anything they will need to take it to court. My company has an attorney on retainer I will just sick them on the company if they send me anything else.

Nice. How did you get your company to pay for it?

Does Meryl Streep play the Hard Candy?

Well, she played a minor role as the "Candyman" in the first movie, who was kind of a bit role. I mean, I think she did it as a cameo because she liked the script. But she definitely did the Denzel in Training Day flip in Hard Candy 2 and 3 as the chief villian.

I obviously have far too much time on my hands as I remade the gif with frames and colours included and no watermarks.

and a link to the reverse version since Nevasleep made one.

Anyway, best of luck Gatti!

So today my internet was shut down via my isp. They autodirected my browser to a notice that i had been in violation of copyrighted material hard candy 4 cd1.avi and cd2.avi using bittorrent (they have a port number ip address and timestamp). My wireless is password protected and I live in a house with another long time friend who is a rooommate. The guy doesnt even own a computer/laptop/tablet. The only thing he has is an evo phone. He swears he didnt download anything. My computer wasnt even on at that timestamp. I have a utorrent client but it hasnt even been turned on since late 2010!

So I call the guys at copyrightsettlement.com who are mentioned in the notice after getting my internet turned back on through my isp and they say I need to pay $200 or they will sue me and then it will cost 1000 or more. This seems like extortion to me. I told them the facts and he didnt care just said he gets paid either way and it was my choice, that these cases always go their way etc etc.

Gaf i dont download porn, i pay for everything ip related even music. Im not paying these blackmailers but wtf can i do?

ask them how they have 100% proof that it was you sitting in front of the computer. there was recently a judge in CA that threw out a case saying IP address is not enough to convict someone.

Those guys are straight up bullying you, tell them to fuck off and never call you again.

Haha, you totally did it op. come on, don't bullshit me. If it weren't for the "B-b-but I'm the only man on earth who doesn't use porn!" disclaimer at the bottom of your post, I might have believed you.

Just like the stars of your beloved Hard Candy 4, you're going down.

I'm sure i will have to pay something but the owner and I go way back. He told me if i ever needed legal representation I could use them. Hopefully if i need them he wont change his mind lol.

Dude I don't steal IP. Not even cheapo apps or music, ever. I do watch porno on sites I just wont download it.

I remember reading a article about this two or three years ago. The article made it sound like a scam. However....

I found out this happened to my best friend and he payed up that little 200 dollar fee immediately. All for some shitty mainstream movie. I thought he was a dummy until I heard this might've happened to my professor too. She was unclear on what the first notice looked like, but they hit her up and she did eventually get sued for 10k for 10 movies they claimed someone in her household downloaded. She paid that shit...10 fucking grand. You would have to put me in jail for that shit mang.

There is legal precedent. Please, don't tell him to ignore it based on you thinking that there isn't.

There's absolutely no way to determine it was him using that ISP. Someone else could have been cruising on it, or hell, could have been intentionally piggy backing on his network- who the fuck could know?

I don't think they care. We probably carry a bunch of liability from our internet connections. Kinda like those file sharing websites that merely help you search for torrents. They don't do shit themselves yet they are deemed responsible and sued.

That's my fear. I'd lose my fucking mind if i had to pay a ridiculous fee for something I didn't do. I have mountains of IP in my house. Easily 150 blurays and 200 DVDs. Its bullshit.

Message from my friend on this topic:

Porn lawsuits are just a way to make a quick dollar. Since porn has a stigma against it, most people settle on the basis that even if they are guilty they don't want their name on public record in a case like this. And these lawyers know it. Most of their "evidence" is bullshit and in every single case of this type thus far has had at least one improper jurisdiction claim. Why is that? Because they rely on shoddy facts to locate people and it sounds legitimate to most judges because they're old and don't know any better.

We've spent time and money talking to multiple lawyers and data forensic experts only to be quietly dismissed like thousands of others all around the US. In my case, only one person is being filed against and that's because they called them and tried to make a stink about it in court. Turns out they were guilty of other infringement cases and now will probably have a costly judgement. dude was an idiot and made himself a target.

If OP of that thread is innocent, he should:

1) Change his number ASAP
2) Ignore all letters until one says he must appear in court (this is extremely doubtful).

If he is guilty:

1) Change his number ASAP
2) Ignore all letters until one says he must appear in court. Contact a lawyer and have said lawyer work out a lower settlement

PhoenixDark's friend gives sound advice. DO NOT talk to them. You can incriminate yourself somehow, even if you don't mean to. Talking only makes them more confident that they can extort money or charge you, so make sure you have that lawyer ready and they might just back off. I've had a few cases dropped where I was getting blamed for something, and my lawyer handled everything. Sure it sucks that you're paying for someone being a dick, but just saying "talk to my lawyer" makes everything easier.

So you're telling me the one person on GAF who has (supposedly) never downloaded pornography is also the only person who has been prosecuted for the crime?

The enforcement could use a little work I think.

If you haven't been served, they're bluffing. If this were legit, they would be spending time and money attempting to serve you, so that they can have "proof of service." If they serve you, hire an attorney.

jorma

is now taking requests
man why did you even call them? :X

and fuck the world for forcing the ISP's to do the dirty work on behalf of the copyright-trolls

I don't know about the OP's case, but when I was in college, living at home and using the university dial-up in the late 90s, my mom's phone bill had like $200 of charges to long distance dial-up to Africa. She called the phone company to contest it and they said it was a porn site and they wouldn't reverse it because our line dialed the number. Of course I was the primary suspect. She still thinks I did it. I rarely looked at porn on that computer cuz it was in the living room facing the room. But it was probably my fault, since I did leave the computer running unattended sometimes.

So they had your ISP kill your connection, then told you to visit their website........... and notified you via email.

Hmmm.........

What a fucking scam.

OP: What country are you in? What ISP do you have? I don't recall seeing these questions answered unless I accidently read past them.

Get a friend to purchase a copy of the movie on ebay then claim you already own a copy of it.

or do what I would do, ignore the fucks.

Its probably this non-porn movie. Which makes more sense than being sued for downloading porn.

OP is full of shit about no porn downloads though. Come the fuck on op.
