I still haven't played XIII yet. Does that make me a bad Final Fantasy fan?

So I'm playing through FFIV complete right now. Should I play The After Years as well? I'm not hearing good things...
Edit: I ended my post woth a formal greeting, shouldn't work and Gaf at the same time.
It's a really challenging FF. After being somewhat underwhelmed with the difficulty of FF IV in that release I was pleasantly surprised by how many times I really had to stay on my toes even during regular battles. Each character episode has it's own "challenge dungeon" which you can go through to gain unique equipment and items. I found these to be pretty fun to conquer and go back for more.So I'm playing through FFIV complete right now. Should I play The After Years as well? I'm not hearing good things...

There's something I always wondered about the story in FVII, why does Sephiroth decapitate Jenova in Nibelheim?

He just needed her cells. A head's more mobile.
He doesn't know what she is at that point though, he still thinks she's an ancient unless I'm remembering wrong

Is VIII the only FF game where you can't find items in people's houses? It feels weird. Every time I play this game I'm tempted to check for hidden items when there are none.

I don't think XIII has houses at all off the top of my head

There's some of Laguna's articles you can find around, but that's about it
Does he know that? Gasts notes on Jenova and Hojo's monster project are seperate things. As we know Hojo likes keeping info to himself I always thought it unlikely he left anything regarding Sephiroths original just lying around in the mansion. When ya confront Hojo at the end of Disc 2 he speaks as though Sephiroth doesn't know he's his dad. Also the people in the know regarding that experiment (Hojo, Lucrecia, Dracu... Vincent!) are all still alive so gaining their knowledge through the Lifestream prolly wouldn't be a thing.Yes. He thinks she's an ancient. He also knows he was injected with her cells in utero after researching in the library, and that that has something to do with the monsters he saw in the reactor.
It lets you see some battle stats about your characters
I think there might be a magazine for one of Zell's limit breaks in the prison as well
A question regarding the Tonberry AP farming thing in FFX.
so I went and did it and yes I went up like 60 Sphere levels in a single fight..
but I can see that I will very quickly run out of the spheres needed to power up the nodes,
is there a way to get those spheres without having to fight random boring enemies?

Broke out my GBA SP today and started playing Final Fantasy I from the Dawn of Souls cartridge. I've never actually gotten very far in the original, so I'm committing to finally finishing the OG FF on its 30th anniversary. So glad they tweaked the mechanics for the GBA version! I'll probably play FFII as well, and if that goes well, I'll pay a ridiculous price for FFV on the GBA and finally beat that one too. I just can't bring myself to deal with the load times on the PlayStation Anthology version of FFV.
Are any of the iOS games worth it? Tried Brave Exvius and it seemed cool but the initial load time on my iPhone is awwwwful and it looks like a game that really requires constant money pumping, which I'm not a fan of. The music sounded really damn good, though.

It feels like a romhack at times though but once you get farther unique monsters start showing up as well as new music, and I hear the final dungeons have a ridiculous amount of bosses from much of the FF series history.
The individual character chapters you have available from the start are mostly just short prologues to the main course which opens up after clearing them all.
I really loved the final dongeon, but other than that... the game is pretty meh !
Not bad, just meh.
I thought it was pretty good. It recycles a bunch of areas from the first game, so a lot of people bitch about that. It has a lot of characters and fun battle system quirks. Frankly, I don't understand how anyone who likes IV could dislike it.
Just be very careful not to save over your previous episode clear data when you start a new episode. The save system defaults to highlight your most recent save, even on a new episode. Like it's actively trying to make you fuck up. I did it twice on my first playthrough and once on my second. Luckily, there are 100% episode completion save files available online to replace the lost file on PSP.
X-2 is good but nearly all the areas in it are reused from X, I would maybe leave a gap before playing it. There's also story reasons why I wouldn't personally recommend jumping straight into the sequel but I don't want to spoil anything
Phantom village isn't in the rift, only a frozen version of it without any vendors. The real village is in a southern archipelago's forest accessible through entering combat in the correct forest. You'll get to the Phantom Village eventually. I don't remember how far into the Rift it is. There are a few vendors there you'll be able to stock up at.
in FFX
I have to beat Earth eater for fotrune spheres...
Problem is he seems immune to any kind of special attack (breaks, magics, etc) I am dealing shitty 15000 damage with my super overleveled (255 strength) Tidus.
I used his overdrive slice and dice to turn him on his back, then I dealt a bit more decent damage like 50000 if lucky but still way to slow for the 2 million hp points the beast has.
how do I approach it?? what's the standard modus operandi with this enemy?
also, my Auron has his celestial weapon unlocked and is my 2nd most advanced character in the grid but he does probably a 3rd or a 4th damage of my Tidus ( when Tidus deals 80k damage Auron does like 20k~15k.) why is that? does he just suck or what stat should I improve on?
Leave Fortune Spheres for last. I had everything else at 255 before I even started farming him. Earth Eater is a pain in the ass even with maxed stats because of how long he takes to reflect flare off his ass at you. Overdrives for some reason do very little damage to him. Only Wakka's Attack Reels hits enough to be better than a normal hit. Best strategy is to just spam it using Entrust with the other party members.
thanks for replying!
as per usual, Youtube had the answer.
look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pb1VR0xWzs
too bad I really don't like blitzball and don't have Wakka's celestial weapon or reels.
I played the story-related game several weeks ago and that shit was so broken that I didn't want to play it again ever but I know it's mandatory for 100% completion so yersterday I went ahead and told myself "come on, it won't be as broken as in that first game, there you were supposed to lose, give blitzball a chance".
so I played 3 games yesterday and, yep, it's as broken as back then.
.- Overpowered players in the other team that just won't let you push forward
.- They could easily win 5-0 against me but they are stupid and just keep just passing the ball around.
.- when they have the ball, the game auto-plays itself so I have nothing to do... it's worse than grinding for money, spheres or gil because I don't even control my characters.
blitzball is so far the thing I am disliking the most out of this game,
who knows maybe it gets better as I get better at it.
10 minutes per match though.... half of which you're just watching what the characters do, it blows..
EDIT:
WOAH, this method seems even easier :O

I'm playing FFXIITZA.
This isn't my first playthrough of 12, but it's a good game and I don't mind replaying it.
I never beat the trail mode when I played IZJS, but I'm planning to change that this time around.
I still need to play I,III and V(I have the last one on PSN) as well.
As a big fan of Job systems, I really want to play V at some point.
If I'm really desperate I give XV another shot. Maybe I can handle more than 10 mintues this time around.
Ok since my PS2 is having problems now, I can't seem to play Dirge of Cerberus. So now my FF30th playthroughs are:
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy XIII
Don't hate on me guys!
Are there people who dislike FF X?
One day I'll play XIII...
My unplayed and/or unfinished list includes I, II, V, XII, XIII, and XV. Have never even thought of dabbling in the online titles. Working on taking I and II off that list with the Dawn of Souls duo on my GBA.
