I wanted to shout from the rooftops about my collaboration with Lazy Brain Games, and this seemed like the place to do it. I made all the audio for Time Squid, which is a free for PC. Version 1.2 was just released and added controller support, plus it cleaned up a few bugs. I hoped Indie-GAF would check it out and provide some feedback.

Here's a gameplay vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pO-llpQ6q0M

Test your reflexes as your pilot through over 70 levels of fast paced action at the bottom of an alien sea! Featuring a golf influenced online highscore system, Time Squid offers rapid-fire replays in an aquatic world of danger and mystery.

Gentlemen, I need some board tests (and feedback on the music) for APEXICON.

Just poke around that address, and let me know if you can't make any word that shows up, as well as let me know about how well the music fits with what you're doing.

Thanks a lot, and your feedback helps me build a better word game! Don't worry if you can't kill the guy, that's on purpose.

Found this awesome game while on Toucharcade forums, but it's on PC/Mac as well!

Futuridium

Greenlight
Desura (free)
Also available on IOS

Get a trip back to the 80s' with the insanely fast, insanely difficult action of Futuridium EP, a retro fast paced shoot’em up with a modern twist, amazing 3D graphic and an adrenaline pumping 45 minutes original soundtrack!

You are a lone starship pilot who get lost in a dimensional loop just before a battle: with a limited and constantly depleting energy bar your only hope is to fly as fast as possible over enormous space dreadnoughts and destroy all the cyan power cubes, replenishing your energy tank and revealing the ship’s power core, which must be destroyed to move to the next ship.

- No special powers, no bonuses: only the player reflexes count. Your ship, your lasers, your ability!
- You can stop and turn your ship 180° at any time, an essential ability
- No speed control: you always fly as fast as possible...

All right, guys.

As you may know, Stearn is doing some kind of sale or something where you can buy great games at ridonkulous prices.

I've only picked up a few titles so far but I will say that Hotline Miami was the biggest surprise (if not one of the biggest surprises for me this year!) I'm not into twitch gaming as much, and on the surface, it looked like a game that used violence as its biggest selling point.

I could go on about the awesome soundtrack, stylistic graphics, and late-80s "Drive"esque presentation, but you should probably just go check it out. Whatever they're charging, it's worth it.

STILL, Hotline Miami is NOT the game that kept me up past 4:00 am last night. It's NOT the game that has me railing at my work's sorry-arse firewall. It's not what I'm jonesing to play AT THIS VERY MOMENT.

That honor goes to CARD HUNTER BETA. Seriously. If you're into TRPGs, CCGs, or P&P RPGS, you NEED to check this out. It's currently in Beta and you can register here for an invite.

It's free. It will only cost you all of your free time and your soul.

Told you. Such a ridiculously fun life-waster.

Another game that probably hasn't come across here yet.

Crypt Run is a desktop Windows and Mac game that can be played with a keyboard or a gamepad. The action takes place in dungeons, which are comprised of a series of rooms packed with interesting monsters, traps, and loot. Explore the rooms to collect powerups and dodge hazards. Attack and kill monsters by throwing swords, daggers, axes, and other fun weapons.

Hey guys! Work on There Came an Echo is going really well...wanted to share a short GIF showing some of the lighting we've been doing.

No idea if we'll keep shots as individual point light sources...it'll probably murder performance...but it's nice to look at. ; )

Not like it would hurt to put it in as an option, right?
But great to see you making progress :) Backed it and looking forward to the final result.

Quick heads up for anyone on the fence regarding La-Mulana (currently on sale for 50% off). Playism (apparently another game distribution channel and localizing company to bring games over to the west) is having a La-Mulana, plus one secret mystery game, live streaming this sunday:

http://www.playism.tv/blog/?p=416

Might be worth checking out if you are interested in La-Mulana.

Toma, I'm assuming by your avatar change, you're subtly urging everyone to go buy Rues ;)

Truthfully, I just need a reason to buy that game. It looks awesome, but I've heard mixed opinions on it.

What are your concerns? Easier to recommend if I know what people expect/fear they might get with the game.

On a completely different note, while sitting at the sea and thinking about where to go with my barely existant programming skills, I thought of a pretty interesting game idea. Might be better fit for Unity than C# though, so I got some re-learning to do.

Hey Toma, thanks for the love, but just the clarify, it will be on Saturday in the US, and Sunday morning in Japan. We're making sure we're up and able on Sunday morning so American fans can watch the stream live at night.

The stream is going to be 7pm PST, 11am JST.

Have you made any other games? Flash, freeware, etc.?

I tried some stuff for myself on RPGMaker and mainly XNA, but nothing I felt comfortable showing. I think my biggest issue is ambition vs feasibility vs still making something that actually sounds interesting.

We'll see how that turns out. Its a cool and somewhat feasible idea at least, so thats that.

Or you can just use C# in Unity... :D

That is... enticing. I really need to inform myself about Unity a bit.

Finally got time to test your game so far all the words I used worked, but the numbers of vowels that appear seems to be a bit low but I don't know if it's made on purppose. The music is nice gave me the feel of a battle.

This one seems very promising, it looks like Machinarium.

Candle is a classic adventure starring the inexperienced and vulnerable Teku, in his thrilling journey to save his friends and unravel the mysteries of his world. Through his epic journey he will face many trials and puzzles that the player must solve using his mind and inventiveness.

Candle is being developed in a traditional way, painting everything with watercolors and ink, and scanning all that in order to build the sprites of the environments, items, menus, etc. Also, the animations of every character in the game are not digital, instead we also draw and paint them frame-by-frame.

This “handmade” adventure is set to be released this January as a digital download for PC, completely DRM-Free.

They are looking for funding on Kickstarter.

Cardhunterrrrr, more cardhunterrrrr.

Can we talk IOS games here as well?

Found a surprisingly good puzzle platformer that's totally under the radar

Bullet Train Hell - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bullet-train-hell/id550918290

The graphics aren't much to look at but the controls are tight and the game is challenging

If it wasn't for the positive impressions on TouchArcade, I would have never heard of this game. The first handful of levels are free, the full game is unlocked with a one time 1.99 purchase

I'd say we keep major discussions over here:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=609546

But naming/recommending a good game is fine by me.

I'm new to the indie scene, so forgive me if this is dumb: Are there any good indie games podcasts?

This question came up a few times already. If more people are interested, I might search and check a few Indie podcasts to see what fits the bill. I am not objected to anyone else doing it either though, but I'd appreciate a short crosscheck how recent and how small the games talked about are.

Preparing an alpha build of the first/main portion of the game. I'll share that with some closer friends first, but who knows, I might put up a version for some of you guys too.

I've also been doing some more research on crowd-funding, and I'm fairly sure I will be launching a Kickstarter soon. Within the next two weeks. Target goal would be about $5000.

Best of luck with the KS! I'll try to back as well in case I finally figure out how.

Some really great games on there, any favorites?

What are you referring to exactly? The OP of the current thread? The OPs of the past 4 monthly Indie game threads?

I recommend checking the OPs (linked in the first post) of the previous threads after march. We have a voting each month and then put the most voted games in the first post of the next thread. That usually aligns very well with the games most people love and talk about in here.

From my game Flipper. Quite early days for us but its going quite well :)

Cute, little puzzle game btw. Noticed very fast that this might become rather tricky soon.

Thank you :) I'm putting a lot of effort into it with my partner to get it looking very nice.

Yeah, its really slick. Everything I do always looks rather messy and packed.
