Will probably stop pursuing them though, there's probably gonna be some 6% festival in the near future with the year ending.

Pulled my 30 lazuli in potk. Got a couple 4* and a 5* female mitum. Sweet. Not bad at all.

I still don't understand the difference between silver and gold stars.

Just realised my level 1 dupe Asclepius is Dexterity whereas my level 20 one is Magic (and her growth rate seems to be ~3), painful but I think I'll swap over to making the Dexterity one my main.

Anyone know if this version of Apollo goes to 4* or 5*? Oddly he seems to be a mix of the two female Apollo's shown on the Wiki

Farmed for the 2nd pull. Also when I checked units at phankill.gamewith.jp I saw that many of them have different kinds. Like there are two Apollo with 3 → 4 and 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 rarity progression. Are they different units with the same name or what?

Units with the same name but different subclasses/skills/evolution paths

Silver Stars can upgrade to gold and sometimes pink. Gold stars can sometimes upgrade to pink. Its just basically a rough visual guide to where the unit is in their individual upgrade path (as far as I know). Wondering what point weapon ranks serve? Doesnt seem to improve stats

I'll invite you right now. My IGN is garath. I'm running the 5* Apollo.
Added!

My Mitum [F] is almost level cap, so I'll put her up as my lead once I evolve her.

Yeah, there are a couple different variation/evolutions for the same character. One can start at 2* and evolve to 4*, while another can start at 3* and evolve to 5*. Same class too [Sword, for instance], but different abilities and such.

Out of your pull, that Mitum [M] and Brah [F] can evolve to 5* and 6* [respectively]. Male Mitum might get a 6* evolution too later on, as he was just released with the Global version and not a whole lot is known about him.

3* Weapons are expensive to repair, I'm now more or less broke. One thing I noticed, if a mission goes tit ways if you close the app, re-open it and choose not to continue you dont have to deal with broken weapons from units you lost. You're out the AP and obviously get nothing for it, but for a mission thats gone terribly wrong it might be better to lose the AP and save the gold.

Weapons only break if the unit dies and you still finish the mission. If you retreat or lose nothing happens, but you also don't get anything for the stamina you wasted.

Also I guess I should have farmed for a healer unit, or something that procs a healing skill.

So many units. So good strategy is to feed 1 and 2* units to my higher level ones in potk? Seems to be a low success rate but 30 hero slots go quick especially after 2 10 pulls.

Edit: should I be looking at evolving 3* units or just feed them too? Haven't figured out the strategy here yet.

Anyone mind helping me? I've been playing granblue for awhile and the start dash came back. Figured I would buy it but I'm running into trouble. I have iphone btw so jp itunes won't accept my cards and if I run the app in bluestacks the purchasing area gives me this error about in app billing or something. I linked my google account to bluestacks and I linked a card to google wallet so I'm not sure what else I should be trying. This is the error.

It says something like "In-app purchase cannot be used on this device. Contact admin."

I can't really help you with this, but I know that a few days ago for they've changed their currency from Mobacoins to Gcoins for Android App users. I think you can't use those Gcoins on your iphone, which still uses Mobacoins.

Thanks for the reply but I just decided to ask my friend to buy me cards from the store. I tried a ton of different methods but it just wasn't working for me

Doesnt look like I'll be able to rustle up the 50 lazuli in PotK for that third 10 pull. I think that's fine. I ended up with two 5* units which can both eventually be made into 6*. I'll consider that a win and hoard my lazuli for next event.

In PotK when a character has a star beside a stat does that mean it cant be upgraded any more? Just notice it on a level up screen

There's still 4 days, but I agree, its very slow going after you get the first 40 stones. The endless quests under events are good for 14 stones.

Well if you get a good unit in those first "20" rolls you should be able to just auto battle your way through enough missions to get 50 more.

Problem with auto battle is that the AI doesnt really value keeping units alive, so its fine for stuff you're over-leveled for but seems to struggle with progression, and a dead unit denies you the lazuli for the first clean clear (and leads to a big repair bill)

Yeah. I love having auto battle use my healer every single round healing the 6 hp damage on my gunner at the cost of his whole health bar only to get one shot for being on the front line.

I'll try the endless missions. Didn't know those gave lazuli. Still seems like a long shot.

So just do it with one unit.

Honestly, I'm not so sure that there's even 90 free Lazuli in-game right now. Maybe...maybe if you don't upgrade any of your unit/weapon space and do every single story/mission, you might get enough, but that's cutting things short. I have iTunes credit, so I just purchased 50 Lazuli, but obviously that's not the ideal solution. :(

The good news is these types of events seem commonplace in the Japanese version, so hopefully the same will apply here.

Sorry I dont follow, just do what with one unit? The missions?
Yeah, they probably mean do it with one, super-strong unit [or two]. There's no telling how much faster it will be than manual control, though, since those 1/2 units would have to traverse the entire map themselves, from end to end. Sometimes the enemies aren't grouped together and are on opposing sides of the map.

I think you might just be able to do it:

6 starting
~5 from the first set of missions
14 from the Event quests
10 per section (are there more than five sections?)
+ Special stage bonuses (didnt keep track of these)

So far I've done the initial pull, the 30 pull and I'm currently at 32 stones, on Section 4 - Stage 7. So at least another 13 stones from finishing section 4 & 5 will get me to 45 and if I cant squeeze out any more I'll buy enough stones to get me to 50 (actually probably just going to get to 28 and buy the 12 stone pack). I think the login reward might give another stone or two but there doesnt seem to be anywhere to see it other than when it pops up at login.

You should able to get 90 lazuli, I started playing a week ago just rolled my 3rd rookie event by completing the story chapter and the events by rushing with my lv60.

Weapon Training 6
Unit type training 6

New update in Phantom:

- increase rarity of starter unit (no effect on current players) can drop in recruit with mana points.
- Metal Garden AP changed 15AP --> 10AP
- and some skill fixes.

Oh, nice! I wouldn't have though, I needed to upgrade my unit/item capacity right away, I felt way too limited especially when I actually pulled from the gatcha [not to mention holding onto some evolution materials]. :(

Yeah, it's a great update.

If you have at least 30AP [I'm only at 26 currently, unfortunately] you can get six runs in per key. Start the event with between 501-599XP remaining until rank up, run three times, rank up, run another three times. As it is, I can only run fives times, but I can [maybe] run a sixth if I let the AP restore naturally and work quickly on my first three runs [so I can rank up and begin the AP renewal process for the sixth].

So Granblue Fantasy recently reached 7million downloads, and now they're having a bunch of half-AP/BP events, and some crazy lottery for all players who log now until end of the year. (+freebies)

Best time to grind Magna raids, EX co-op and story mode.

I didn't see anything resembling a lottery. Is it available already? I'm gonna be swimming in gems though, already have 5k again. Maybe I'll be able to roll 30 times with all the freebies at the end of the year.

From what I understand in this news page, if you just login each day until Jan 3, puts you in lottery for some SSR stuff at end.

Im kind of tired of waiting for the English versions of these games, does anyone know how you can download these games on an IPhone in the US?

I tried switching my region to Japan but it still tells me that I am only eligible for purchases in the US.

You have to create a Japanese iTunes account. Google search some, there's a few guides out there (you just need a valid address really). Takes about 5-10 minutes

Valiant Force pre-reg is open (English)

Interview with dev:

Valiant Force is a strategy turn-based mobile game, with reminiscence of classic Japanese RPG titles. In Valiant Force, players must gather heroes to face the imminent revival of a powerful evil being, who is bent on destroying humanity in the world of Arathos.

Players can form their own Force, pick and customize from over 180 heroes, over 42 unique classes & jobs. They can be equipped with different rarities of equipment either from dungeon loot or crafting them at the Forge. Players can also progress and advance with each of their heroes, and unlock new and more powerful classes. Each new class, has its own unique skill, 2D and 3D avatars.

We are having a soft-launch of Valiant Force in the Philippines early 2016, followed by Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand a few weeks after. The gamers in Philippines are usually the most passionate and vocal, and we are sure to get good feedback from them. This will also certainly be followed by the SEA launch and worldwide by mid of 2016.

How much does being in Japanese hinder these games? I suppose it probably varies by game.

It really depends on the game, the two obvious downsides are that it's difficult to navigate menus and that you can't follow the story, The first one is just a matter of time before you get used to it while the second one is a bit of a bigger drawback. Well, as long as you care about the story I guess. For something like Granblue Fantasy it's just a matter of time before I get to read the translation so it's not a super big deal for me personally but there are some games that probably never get a translation.

For small things that I need to translate on the spot there are always translation apps, I personally use the Google translate app for Android and it has served me well.

There's also the fact that the Japanese-only games are always a bit more niche then the Global ones so it can be quite difficult to find good information, although if you know the right places there's always at least someone who knows their stuff about a game.

Really, while it varies from game to game the language barrier isn't a big hurdle for me as long as I'm really interested in the game. Especially when you consider that most of the times the Japanese versions are better in terms of features.

I'm probably skipping this round of mobile games. But I like this thread so nothing will go unnoticed in case something cool comes around.

Hopefully Nintendo's mobile game efforts come with great gameplay. I can see myself playing that for quite a bit with all the cool IPs they got.

Evolving in PotK is pretty expensive, gonna need to save up some

Edit: Odd, clicking on Buy for lazuli just brings up an explanation of what it is not an option to buy it. Guess I need to grind out 10 more today for that third pull.

Edit 2: Or not, restarted and grabbed ten stones, did my last pull. Annoying that twice I got a 3* Silver...only to get the 4* Gold version of it right afterwards ;) One 5* (which I have the 3* version off) and 4* Durandal who can go 6* at some point. Not terrible, but certainly not amazing.

Team building in Potk is sort of weird, most of the leader abilities seem to favour mono class teams but the RPS system would seem to favour rainbow ones.

Edit 3: Just realised Mitum and Masamune were both dupes (of the not great versions). So basically Durandal was the only "Good" unit and Gambanetinn saved me some time and resources. Oh well, at least now I can spend gems on expanding my unit reserve, the default is cripplingly small

Casino in granblue... I hate it. I spend too much time playing poker.
I had something like 900k medals at some point, told myself I'd stay there and not attempt Bingo.
Played Bingo anyway.

Now I can barely afford my daily APpotions and BPpowder. >.<

Congrats on the pull. Both Durandal and that 5* healer are great!

As for POTK, I'm still enjoying it but the RNG of it is beginning to frustrate me. Basically, you have to deal with three steps of RNG for a strong character.

1) You need to actually have the luck to pull the character to begin with.

2) You have to hope that it's the optimal type for that unit, so Dexterity for your attackers, Guard for your healers/tanks/etc. Type influences their max stats so it has a pretty big difference in the end-game/difficult dungeons. Supposedly, they can be pretty difficult.

3) Your stat growth. You're randomly assigned a stat growth and it changes each time you evolve. It can be good [3.5 stat gains per level] or horrible [1.5 per level]. If you get stuck with a poor stat growth, the only way to fix it is to reincarnate your unit which resets their level back to Level 1 of that particular evolution. This wouldn't be so bad if you had the time, but you're not guaranteed a better stat growth when you do so [it's still random] and to do it requires an evolution that currently costs 200 Rare Medals [I've been playing for two weeks now and only have 26 of them]. I once went three level up without a single stat gain. I'm not joking.

It's really upsetting, since I managed a Dexterity [F] Mitum that I raised from 4* and, when I evolved her into a 5* last night, it seems I was stuck with a poor stat growth. She's not gaining many points per level up, and there's absolutely no way for me to fix it [outside of reincarnation which isn't yet in-game]. I'll just have to hope that it balances out later on, but stat growth is supposedly pretty consistent throughout...

Oh well. I'll finish leveling [F] Mitum and then focus on my other units. Hopefully they'll have a better growth than her.

I used to play Brave Frontier, and it's pretty much the same for pulling there but with the addition of RNG for stat growth. At least your Mitum can reset when 6* is eventually released.

True, but that's probably at least a year away and I'll need her strong until then. Not only that, but the lower the stats are in the 5* form the less are carried over into the 6* version. :(

Maybe my Mjolnir, [M] Mitum, Luin, Asclepious, or Gambanteinn will have a better stat growth.

Have to agree the layers of RNG are just off-putting, its so dis-heartening to pull a good unit and see they've been ruined by being the wrong type or having sub-par stat growth. At least in other gacha heavy games once you pull a good unit you generally just have a good unit.

Yeah there are too many level of RNG with this game. Not even mentioning all the wackiness that happens with weapon fusion.

Oh and there is the randomness of who you get for a guest unit.
