Kyrie Irving wants to be traded from the Cavs LeBron blindsided

Lol @ Lebron being blindsided. I bet he was thinking about his teammates when he decided to do the Decision and take his talents to South Beach, and yet he has the nerve to react that way when Kyrie wants to make a career move? Lol fuck outta here with that junk. I think he's just salty that Kyrie leaving (if he gets traded) puts more pressure on him to either succeed or stay in Cleveland (IMO both of which won't happen for the foreseeable future).

If bron leaves he should get shit for being a coward then. You can't just leave every time adversity happens.

I do wonder what Kyrie's reason is for wanting to leave though, maybe he's sick of the lack of accountability that Lebron has while he harps on his teammates for not doing enough? Or is it just a pure career move being proactive before Lebron royally fucks over the Cavs and leaves.

Blindsided just means he wasn't aware. He's distancing himself. They aren't dating. Calm down, Skip.

what?

if you take lebron off the cavs right now, they'd probably still make the playoffs but they wouldn't advance far. you can put lebron on any team in the east and they automatically become contenders to make it to the finals.

what was kyrie before lebron arrived? i'm not saying he wasn't good, he is a great player, but he's not even close to lebron. if he wants to be THE MAN he can go to the nets, get the 7th or 8th seed every year and be eliminated in the first round. this is an odd trade request

Player moves being "cowardly" is a weird thing tbh. I mean last year the basketball world killed KD calling him a coward and now we saw his FMVP performance throughout the series. As much as I'm not a big fan of Lebron, he doesn't owe Cleveland anymore after winning the championship in 2016. This time it feels earned as opposed to 2010 when he left.

Except he was also reportedly devastated, if that was the case then my point still remains. It's hypocritical to want the freedom to move and then be devastated/whatever when someone else wants a fresh start.

How does blindsided/disappointed mean he's angry or upset with a Kyrie? You are jumping to massive conclusions over a couple of generic ass platitudes from a "source".

While clearly not a Kobe-Shaq relationship in its volume or intensity, Kyrie has for a long time clearly resented no longer being "the man" on his team.

Maybe he's a bit passive-aggressive? Or maybe just a passive internalizer if LBJ is being honest that he really didn't see this coming.

I really did think Kyrie had grown past the "I need to be the man" phase. That he saw that his partnership with LeBron and the trust he regularly displayed with him provided the atmosphere for both to sharpen each other. If he is traded, I hope he finds that situation he's looking for where he can dominate the ball. I can't imagine it's about getting up enough shots, so...man idunno. I really like him. I'll be disappointed if hey have to move him because they couldn't get them all on the same page.

Seemed like LBJ is fairly reasonable to talk to for people he respects. But maybe not? Or maybe Kyrie was afraid to talk to him?

No. Kyrie listens to Kobe first, second and last. Dude Facetimed Kobe from the locker room after you guys chipped. He's not just his mentor, he's his idol.

An idol who chipped twice after Shaq left.

If you're a 25 year old offensive minded point god who specializes in impossible finishes, and you're actively changing your game to play with one of the best players in NBA history, and 2 weeks prior signed an extension expecting the team to be built closer to the Suns around you, and now you're not sure if dude is even going to be there...

You'd start to look at options. Otherwise you're left with a team that isn't yours, no GM, in a terrible city, with an owner who is fickle. You'll get to the semis or ECF every year, and lose.

Is the other scenario better? Yea actually, because you'd start to explore how good you can be without limiters.

No offense to him but the Spurs wouldn't build around Kyrie either. They have this guy called khawi and I heard he's pretty good

Where did I say that he was upset/angry with Kyrie? All I said is that being blindsided/devastated is a hypocritical reaction to have given he's left twice for his benefit. The only thing that comes close to that is when I suggested that it probably had something to do with his decision with next year's free agency, which given the way I worded it, is completely speculation on my part.

I mean, Kobe was a perennial MVP candidate in his prime and arguably one of the 10 greatest to ever play the game. Kyrie isn't even sniffing top 10 in the league right now. I get that he wants to be the man, but a team whose best player is Kyrie Irving probably has first round playoff exit as their ceiling. Kyrie's limits are that he can't pass or play defense or really do anything besides score. Those aren't going to magically disappear when LeBron isn't there. If anything, his inability to create for others as a point guard will only be magnified playing without LeBron.

How is it hypocrisy when you have no idea how he's reacting other than two words from "sources" that could mean a million different things. It doesn't even have to have a negative connotation on Bron's part.

People always desperate for any scrap of info they can use to irrationally hate on LeBron.

I think Kyrie's last two playoff runs bump him above quite a few guys who are allegedly better; I'm sure he feels the same way.

Eh... THE MAN stuff makes little sense for Kyrie and should be treated as nonsense.

He's most likely just tired of all the LeBron drama. Him controlling the organization's every move on top of his non-commitment to the team's future. He sees where this is going and wants out before he ends up stuck in a post-LeBron shithole.

Meh, Whats LeBron's legacy at this point if he'll just keep returning the Finals every year only to get blown out by the Warriors every time?

Kyrie already knows LeBron can't even commit to the Cavs next year otherwise I don't think he wouldn't have requested a trade. Dude, just doesn't want to be the last one to stick around for another rebuild with the Cavs.

If he leaves it would be the 3rd time in general is what I mean, not just Cleveland.

Really? NBA-GAF told me that he's overrated and mediocre at best.

He is the 2nd best player in the nba, whoever said that knows shit about basketball.

Why would kyrie just believe rumors? Also couldn't he just wait and see if bron actually leaves and then leaves? He wouldn't be the last one around either since love will be there.

Hope he goes out west. Raps finally gonna get that finals appearance!

Kyrie goes to the Spurs or Timberpups and Bron goes to the Lakers and we're gonna get an inevitable playoff matchup between the two. #smelltheratings

The East is gonna be such shit. Thank God we didn't blow it up.

Sure, I would rather have Kyrie Irving than someone like Kyle Lowry despite most metrics suggesting Lowry is a better regular season player. That still doesn't get him close to top 10 in the league, much less Kobe tier.

I kinda hope Lebron now gets to play with 4 scrubs so he can put crazy mvp numbers.

Also, Kyrie is not good enough to be "the man" in a team in today's NBA

I mean, who best to really know if those rumors has any weight to them, than Kyrie?

Maybe he already knows they'll lose again if they run it back a fourth time with the Warriors especially with how terrible the Cavs Free Agency has turned out for them.

Irving doesn't make any other team a threat to the Warriors unless Aldridge plays way better in the playoffs than he did last year.

Well, it is LMA's contract year so....

That's not mental

He's garbage on defense

Like, he's absolutely dreadful

He gets used and abused by capable offensive players

Enes Kanter gave up 56% on shots he defended when within 10ft of the Rim. Zaza Pachulia gave up 60%. So the much maligned Kanter was actually better defensively then the Warriors defensive specialist. But lets not let fact get in the way of Narative.

Being unable to read, react, and move at NBA speeds is a pretty big fucking problem if you are trying to play defense in the NBA.

Jdstorm really has a thing for big men bench players who can't move and have no place in the small ball era NBA.

No, i just don't believe you should discount useful players because what they do isn't currently in fashion. A very small number of teams have traditional bigs who fit this new Small NBA by being athletic enough to run with wings or by shooting 3s. At some point a playoff team will need to counter one of these players and when going small doesn't work its nice to have the option to go big.

lol at Greg Monroe. Dude is a fucking dinosaur. Philly can't get good value for Okafor who is better than Monroe and you think Monroe can get the Bucks Kyrie?

Okafor is a rookie scale guy. He makes so little money you couldn't get good value for Lebron on that contract. Monroe's main source of value currently is that he has a 16+ Million expiring contract. Currently the Cavs have 85+ Million worth of contracts committed to 8 non Lebron players. Taking on Monroe would reduce that by 16M (Assuming Cleveland won't keep him around) and give Cleveland around 25M in Cap space next summer. Aditionally Cleveland would have aquired future draft picks and a beloved stable veteran PG to build around. (Delly) As far as efforts to do a complete post Lebron rebuild go that is considerably better then what Cleveland did last time. Especially if your goal is to make the playoffs consistently while everyone else in the east tanks.

"GMs are smart, they know what they're doing...they're GMs...they know Greg Monroe is a bad bargaining chip...they call the Cleveland FO and shit...hello...we have got 5 trade scenarios for you with Greg Monro--hello?"

This is factually untrue about 50% of NBA GMs. Have you not watched the eastern conference. Some are better then others but the majority are bad at their jobs.

Right now people are praising Sam Hinke as a great GM yet the only difference between Sam Hinke and David Kahn is that Hinke managed to con a fanbase into believing that incompetence was part of his master plan.

Why wouldn't you go where your job would be the easiest and most rewarding if you're really good at what you do?

You'd intentionally stay where it's harder?

Fuck no unless you're stupid. So why shouldn't LeBron?

No argument, just saying that he clearly thinks that and wants to explore it.

I don't see the Spurs going after him, although I would love to be pleasantly surprised. I still think the Spurs have their eyes dead set on next summer.

Wait Wait wait, we consider Zaza a defensive specialist? lol. He is there as a body, nothing more. Only if positioning your foot under Kawhi's foot counts I suppose.

I'm sure they'll make an offer, but they don't have much to work with. Never know with RC though. Either way, I'm looking to see what the new guards on the Spurs can do. Plus Bryn Forbes lit up the summer league and reports are that TP is recovering nicely. Not that any of that would be a consolation for missing out on Kyrie, but the Spurs usually make their pieces work. /popcorn.gif

At best, this is logical decision to forgo the chance at a championship this year in lieu of maybe going to a team with a future of contending, but publicly giving really poor reasons and rumors about real reasons making you look selfish. That's best case scenario.

NBA offseason is crazy.

Someone on here really said "if we can get AD for Kyrie we would make the best out of a situation"

Make the best out of a situation? that my friend is more like a date rape drug situation.

I know this was pages ago, but I'm catching up on the entertainment and just spit out my drink a little.

I thought that LeBron went home. It had nothing to do with Cavs having assets in a weak conference and Heat aging. /s

I'm gonna guess that one the most rewarding things for an athlete is to fight their way to the top through all the adversity. Maybe taking a bus to the middle of the hill and starting there is also fun.
