Yeah, these guys are going to get sued at the least and probably will face criminal charges.

Will be hard for them to argue that it's not a gambling site and the skins aren't worth money when they're talking about how much money they "won" in the video.
Im just a tad skeptical, youtubers and twich people have been getting away with shady shit for years, public and private.

LOL!

I’m starting a new Internet business. I don't have any money for advertising, so I need publicity. Can I tell people that if they say good things about my business in online reviews, I’ll give them a discount on items they buy through my website?

It’s not a good idea. Endorsements must reflect the honest opinions or experiences of the endorser, and your plan could cause people to make up positive reviews even if they’ve never done business with you. However, it’s okay to invite people to post reviews of your business after they’ve actually used your products or services. If you’re offering them something of value in return for these reviews, tell them in advance that they should disclose what they received from you.

Yeah, something gonna happen, an investigation and fines at the very least.

Isn't this what guys suing Valve for tacitly enabling that everyone was laughing at and calling an idiot? But when it's against youtube trash everyones cheering finally, hang them high?

We're really in the golden age of shady internet dealings, aren't we? This shit will be regulated to hell and back in a few decades, especially when bitcoin crashes and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it.

Funny this comes up today.

Just yesterday after someone made a thread about CrowbCat's Battleborn video, I found myself checking out his other videos, including the one he did on the evolution (or deterioration) of TF2's design to what we currently have in both that game and CSGO especially.

I think it's interesting to watch this and consider cards and badges and hats and the whole economy of nothing that Valve has cultivated inside of Steam (when you exclude the games, of course.)

People think cosmetics in Overwatch are something, but it's this shit that actually disturbs me.

He has to at least realize it's shady if not expressly against the law.

He knows both of those things which is why he's quickly tried to relabel old videos and his Twitter account to notify people that he is the co-owner of the site. Of course that's not really going to help him much given that he also posted a video where he says that "we found this new site called CSGO Lotto, i'll link it down in the description if you guys want to check it out".

Out of curiosity do Gamblers on the site have a potential class action here? Time to use some of that H3H3 lawyer money.

If you were lured to the site and spent money under false pretenses that you had similar odds of winning, yes. No question.

The OWNER and CREATOR of the site makes videos of him winning. There's literally zero demonstration of risk going on. Even if he 'lost' any 'money', it's all a business expense.

Imagine if there were commercials for Las Vegas with Sheldon Adelson saying how much money he won at his own casinos.

m0E (a popular csgo personality) recently got exposed for colluding with a gambling site called csgodiamonds. Basically, as I understand it, the site's admin would tell m0E about his rolls ahead of time, meaning he knew when to bet big and make a spectacle out of everything for his twitch audience. Thorin has a really good video about it in which he drudges through all the facts and events if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO22YayYqYE (skip to 1:01:58 for the tldr)

Money can change people, and YouTube fame is strange because it's hard to say how long it will last for anyone involved.

That's the thing though. If I were a content creator, which I'd love to be, I wouldn't do it for the money. I'd just do it because I want to play a video game, and let people watch if they want.

The money would be a nice benefit, but I don't think I'd want to change how I think about playing games, or what I play, just because it may give me more money from ad revenue.

Even if I were to get famous, and lets say dropped from, I dunno, 250K subs to like 3,000, I'd still want to keep doing what I was doing. The passion for sharing opinions of games and allowing others to watch me playing games and enjoying my content would fuel my videos and encouragement.

Maybe I'm just weird. Lol

Man I really hope he was tampering the odds too - is this actually legally classed as gambling? I presume not and if not what is it?

Time for some game journalists to do some actual journalism.

How much shady shit is out there in the gaming world? It is up to you to tell us.

This motherfucker. No wonder he lives in a goddamn mansion from making blind box opening videos. Wonder what Drift0r will have to say about this.

Some people use their hands a lot when they speak, but I haven't seen anyone do it with their eyebrows until now. I'm hypnotized by how animated he is when speaking.

I can't believe how shady all this shit is though, and I really hope something is done about this. I have no sympathy for a youtuber who is undoubtedly trying to exploit his young audience by driving traffic to another operation he owns without explicitly stating the conflict of interest. It's really gross watching him try to act like the bigger person in his responses, when he knows damn well what he was doing all along.

He has tourettes. Lol. It's his "tick" (I think that's what it's called?).

Don't expect you to know that, since it seems to be your first video, just informing. :p

The human brain doesn't work like that.

Once you have a million followers, you can find any group of people to support any decision you want. Anybody that would traditionally say "I don't think that's a good idea" is drowned out by hundreds of thousands of blind followers who support it.

Power corrupts people.

One small YouTube who tried to expose them called eight_thoughts and made a video. Guess what these two cretins did?

@THoG_Empire they tried to take my channel down, and got me strikes on videos leaving me off youtube with a 2 weeks ban.

I guess they love to pick on small youtubers.

Lol yea as an earlier poster said he has a tick. He is chill about people noticing it but I agree. I just can't help but stare at his eyebrows.

Any more information on this? I will add this to the OP.

For anyone wondering Ethan does the eyebrow thing because he has a mild case of turrets and can't control it, it makes for some funny jokes by him, comes off as animated when he's doing videos.

Oh, damn, now I feel like an ass! Yeah, I've never watched him before; really interesting to watch that though, makes him seem way more expressive.

The only way it's not gambling is if the skins have no monetary value.

These folks are on record claiming they won money in videos (or at least something with monetary value).

They incorporated their business in the US.

I'm not a lawyer, but it'd be pretty hard to convince me (if I was on a jury) that this isn't gambling.

Ethan actually made a video about his eyebrows not too long back, lol!

He has a mild case of tourette's syndrome that cause his eyebrows to go nuts sometimes.

Edit: ha, very late.

Haha, nah, don't feel bad. He's made a video about it and he takes it in good stride and is fine with it, even making fun of it himself. Lol.

The delicious irony of this thread amuses me.

What's the irony? I know there was a thread earlier in the week about Valve but I think it would be ignorant to say that the previous thread represents GAF and other members are not allowed to share their opinion on this situation.
