Thanks, I didn't have in mind that there weren't really any spinoffs at the time.

Really not that comparable. MH5 will be very interesting though..
Actually there is a spin-off. Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airou Village was released a few months before Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. As a matter of fact, the Portable series itself could be considered a spin-off of the mainline Monster Hunter games on PS2/Wii during that time.

Monster Hunter on Switch wouldn't really cause meltdowns tbh. I think we all expect Switch is getting MH at some point. MH5 on PS4 as an exclusive though? When (if) it happens shit is gon pop off.

Wait, has the Nintendo Switch already passed up the XB1 in sales?

What? I knew the situation for Microsoft in Japan was dire, but I had no idea it was that dire. Goddamn.

Not only was the portable line of games a spin-off but X and XX are actually continuations of that line.

So when Capcom have their next financial/earnings meeting, are they going to blame those Switch owners who have moved on or who are "waiting for a port" for MHXX failing to sell how many they wanted, or are they going to blame their own decision to make it a 3DS exclusive rather than cross platform?

How was a switch port going to get MHXX to 2 million units by next week? Even if every switch other bought a copy it still wouldn't be close. And besides for years it's been said making MH multiptlaform would kill it's sales so maybe Capcom was just listening to the fans by keeping it on 3DS ;-).

Can we wait for switch to sell a couple million units before we start the "if only there was a switch version"?

Would you rather play the game with blurry 720p resolution and downgraded visuals on Switch, or play it on 1080p at 60 fps with the visuals cranked all the way up, thanks to the Power of PS4™

So if Switch/PS4 is announced, there will be a war between those who claim to get it on Switch because 'portable' and PS4 because 'grafix'.

PS4 can surpass XBone LTD numbers in a good week. It has done so several weeks in a row this past December.

Your locked thread jogged some memories. It's not often you see someone complain about something as irrelevant as PS Blog comments.

You asked for Vita projects (unnamed as they may be), to be moved to Switch.

Since you brought up that locked thread: For the record, I did not make that post on the blog, as ModBot accused me of having done.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Monster Hunter XX have better numbers on Famitsu.

Also :

Puyo Puyo Tetris, I think that already better than the Wii U version and I hope that Dragon Quest Heroes keep selling, for a few more weeks and reach about 50k.

No signs of Diasgaea or I am setsuna.

Famitsu numbers (via Game Data Library), up to latest update

[3DS] Puyo Puyo Tetris <PZL> (Sega) {2014.02.06} (¥5.229) - 42,096 / 104,044

Media Create numbers, up to end of 2015

[3DS] Puyo Puyo Tetris <PZL> (Sega) {2014.02.06} (¥5.229) - 44,627 / 123,302
[PS3] Puyo Puyo Tetris <PZL> (Sega) {2014.02.06} (¥5.229) - 10,306 / 31,221
[PSV] Puyo Puyo Tetris <PZL> (Sega) {2014.02.06} (¥5.229) - 8,973 / 27,109
[WIU] Puyo Puyo Tetris <PZL> (Sega) {2014.02.06} (¥5.229) - 4,452 / 22,932
[PS4] Puyo Puyo Tetris <PZL> (Sega) {2014.12.04} (¥5.480) - 1,044 / 8,718

Famitsu numbers aren't exactly updated as much as MC's ; still, it's going to be the second best selling version soon enough, I can see it reaching 50,000 copies in the next future, between the leggy nature of the game and how launch games tend to have legs by default

Dragon Quest Heroes II v.s. Dragon Quest Heroes I-II, trend comparison for the first three weeks(Famitsu)

[PS4] Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and Prophecy's End <RPG> (Square Enix) {2016.05.27} (¥7.800) - 188.690 -> 41,463 (-78%) -> 16,735 (-60%) / 246,888
[PSV] Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and Prophecy's End <RPG> (Square Enix) {2016.05.27} (¥6.800) - 123.812 -> 34,016 (-73%) -> 18,694 (-45%) / 176,522
[PS3] Dragon Quest Heroes II: The Twin Kings and Prophecy's End <RPG> (Square Enix) {2016.05.27} (¥6.800) - 69.426 -> 22,115 (-68%) -> 9,606 (-57%) / 101,147
[NSW] Dragon Quest Heroes I & II for Nintendo Switch <Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below \ Dragon Quest Heroes II> <RPG> (Square Enix) {2017.03.03} (¥8.800) - 25,929 -> 5,631 (-78%) -> 3,538 (-37%) / 35,098

DQHI-II had a much better third week hold than the original versions of II, which is possibly a sign of the title getting legs across a longer period of time, as well as the console's shortages possibly holding it from selling more. Definitely will reach 50,000 copies sold, it has potential to reach 100,000 units in the long run. Golden Week could be pretty important for that.

The portable version would sell loads more regardless of muh graphics.

And quickly people will complain that the game was held back by its Switch version.

I think MH local multiplayer is popular in Japan, but that's just me.

Nintendo has to be happy with those BOTW numbers.

Skyward Sword has no legs. Sold 195k in its first week but only did 297k but the end of its run. It's only 34k away on the Switch and already well surpassed it with both version.

Getting to Twilight Princess numbers would be great.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Doubt they are "happy" with it - its pretty much selling what it should sell considering the quality and how they positioned it. Sales are good, but anything else would have ended in a mess of a launch.

I think they said they needed 2 millions to break even, but I'm not sure.

I'd say they are happy consider it's single handedly ensuring the systems launch is a success and has an extremely high attach ratio in the west time. At times even outselling wii sports, which was a pack in.

I'm surprised at how little Nintendo has shipped in Japan, honestly I though it would be closer to 750k shipped by the end of March but optimistically its going to be around 650k max.
The only way Nintendo can change this is making the shipment coinciding with the Splatoon demo huge. I mean there were plans to ship 2.5 million in March where are all the shipments going?

I know this will include sales from other regions but let's look at Breath of the Wild(Switch) sales so far.
France: 95k(launch week)
50k Spain(2 weeks in)
85k UK????(3 weeks in)
260k Japan
So we have possibly at least 490k and that's without a few weeks for other major countries, Germany, U.S., and everywhere else.
Not bad for an iconic Japanese franchise :)

That switch number is mighty good given all the shortages. It may tell a story where word of mouth is very positive and bites really well for its future in Japan.

The 40k number includes digital, which means if mc numbers are accurate then the digital versions actually sold more than the physical. Not too surprising though considering that even amazon jp never stocked any version of the game and it was only available through a handful of third party sellers.

Edit - and now the famitsu numbers put physical on top again. Though still a very high digital/physical ratio.

Absolutely, I was highlighting the fact that the digital ratio looks to be impressive for both Senran Kagura and Yu-No :)

I hope not, splitting the fan base would suck for this game
Thats why i dont see the arguement for making XX for Switch too. It would also split the fan base.

Wii Sports had a 100% attach rate where it was bundled, where did Zelda have a higher attach rate than this?

EDIT: Unless you mean outselling when it comes to number of copies.

A Switch/3DS release only splits the fanbase if there is no cross play. Considering MH3U had cross play and so does every hunting game spread across the PlayStation systems it isn't a real issue.

Unlike in the West in Japan Wii Sports wasn't always bundled but also sold separately.
Sure, but he mentioned the west and attach rate, then talked about bundled (which wasnt the case in Japan as you mention, only in the west).

If they could manage that, then it wouldnt be an issue, true.

so switch has the highest ytd in japan? thats quite positive isnt it (i know, launch and what not)? oh wait.. PS4 is still higher... next week i guess

Wow, 166 117 units discrepancy. I think that's the worst discrepancy ever between Famitsu and MC, and no download cards to explain it.
