Media Create Sales: Week 40, 2013 (Sep 30 - Oct 06)

Great for PSP passing 20mil (wasn't sure last week with the numbers but it looks concrete here).

Vita and WiiU sales are just sad, same shit new week as it were; don't know what the hell happened in Japan but they're going to keep falling further into global irrelevancy with such a monopolistic landscape.

Retail release of MH4 is now trailing MHP3 by over 1 million units and the gap is only increasing. Of course it's holiday versus not and download sales make up some of the difference, but not the full amount.

Wii U hitting a new low is pretty scary. I thought it was dropping because of an incoming price drop but I found out that it wasn't happening in Japan. With nothing in sight to reverse course the floor's the limit. At least Vita has the excuse of the new model hitting tomorrow so possibly people were just holding off the way they did for the PS3 the week before the PS3 Slim.

People dying in front of our eyes? A bit in bad taste, I think.

Alright, alright, I got ya. Better GIF?

You can only sell what you ship.

The storm arrives soon. Do we have any updated preorder stats? I want to see if Black and White are catchable.

That 99.6% sellthrough for Monster Hunter is insanity.

I expect the new Vita model to sell more than 100k next week with that big game everyone is talking about. But I think sales will be back at 15k after a few weeks :/

Ahahaha, nope.

Nintendo seemed to make every possible mistake with Wii U and it shows in sales. Next mistake: not getting Mario Kart 8 out by the holidays.

At least they have 3DS booming now.

MH4 has pretty much sold 99% of it's inventory, seems capcom really underestimated demand for the game.

Well, the total sales for MH4 this week is very close to the hardware sales of the 3DS this week.

Safe to say MH4 is probably driving the train at this time. What a hardware seller.

Nintendo needs to work on a killer app that will give 3DS owners a strong incentive to buy a Wii U. I assume they are on it, but the sooner, the better.

I don't understand the Vita and Wii U hyperbole, their low sales are explainable.

Either way next week will be one of the biggest weeks in Japan in a long time.

I don't get why anyone would want new Vita instead of OLED one but i guess Japan wasn't ever too interested in picture quality.

How low will Wii U go before the bundles. Under 2k? That’s crazy!!

The thing is a 3DS with the MH4 & Pokemon 1 -2 combo is just as much a problem for Nintendo in the sense something else people can spend their money on rather than a Wii U.

The Wii U is in such a bad spot and I just don’t see a way out of the hole its dug itself into.

Epic Mickey for 3DS, with a horrid 20-40% second-week sellthrough and only 2,905 sold on its second week, is overall quite a disappointment for Spike Chunsoft and Disney.

You would think after the success that was Disney Magic Castle: My Happy Life that Disney games would be more popular, but it appears to be on a game-by-game basis.

(Mentioned this in other thread)

I am buying a Wii U Oct 31, and I am not alone. Gonna be a crazy Wii U week, and I hope it turns things around.

Honestly, anyone buying a Wii U now is dumb.

To be honest I don't expect the new Vita or the Wii U bundles to do much, especially beyond the first 1-2 weeks.

Or that the Wii U would be tracking below Vita's 2012 numbers.

Insane.

Eh in 2009, it was probably fair to assume both PSP and Wii successors would sell as well as them. No reason to think it should be surprising for Vita to outsell Wii U, in that case.

WiiU numbers are terribad.

Vita numbers are expected since the revision of the system is right around the corner.

I guess Level 5 must be happy with Youkai Watch Becoming a bit of a mainstay on the charts. And 3ds hardware sales for this year are finally catching up to last year's to date total. Pokemon and the holidays should put it over the top.

Colors is the only reason one would hold out for the new Vita. And the OG Vita already has lots of colors in Japan.

It was a terrible game. Japan gladly didn't fall for it.

Looks like people forgot that a super Wii U bundle is on the way in Japan. So i expect even lower sales in the upcoming weeks.

Heat wave making it tough to manufacture those carts.
First and last heat wave comment, I promise.

Either way next week will be one of the biggest weeks in Japan in a long time.

This is tracking September 30th through October 6th.

The new bundles are on October 31st. Yes part of the sales decline is due to people being aware of the Wii U's upcoming bundles, but the rest is due to sales naturally slowing to a crawl.

joke?

another joke?

EDIT:
Hmm, the Vita currently has a set price of 19980 yen, right? So the Vita 2000 comes in slightly cheaper at 18980, which is about a $20-25$ price cut. Does that count?

I want to live in the world where 1000 yen is about $20-$25.
