I hate to say it, but maybe it's time for the Zelda team to try out a new IP? At the very least they could put the handheld team on it. I think they have a better chance of getting an IP to be bigger than Zelda than making Zelda a lot bigger.

Why? I know Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass had better openings but other than that ALBW beat what, every other zelda game is the last ten years or so?

Maybe they'll introduce cool Streetpass stuff for Pokemon Z?
I hope so. But then why don't they introduce it in Pokemon XY? I know XY is already full brim with feature, but streetpass is what makes me refer to bring my 3DS out than Vita.

It's a valid question, don't do this.
No it´s not, it´s port begging.
It's only logical for follower titles to come out when the market leader is on the platform. Do you really think hardware limitations were the only reason MH-likes came out in droves for the PSP? It's no different from trying to slip a shooter into the hands of CoD-playing dudebros who usually only play CoD, but are hankering for something in-between the yearly release.

Oh yeah! If that was true, the Vita would not have any game outside of first party titles. The PSP was not the market leader and it got plenty of great games that sold well. It´s port begging plain and simple.

In the midst of a rather sluggish consumer game industry at the moment, I believe that the industry needs a ‘new game’, we’ll try our best to make a new title that’ll surprise all of you, so please look forward to that. If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
First 3DS MMO coming from no one other than Level 5 - nice.

With 530k shipped day one I'm pretty sure they were expecting more, and free falling off the charts is never a good thing.

Well, we still need to know sales from that Famitsu Top100. The bottom of the charts was like 13-15k during the holiday season, God Eater could be doing around 8-10k each weak (maybe more if you combine with PSP sales).

And there are download sales too. I think it was like the 3rd most downloaded game in PSN during 2013, so it could have some decent digital sales too.

The Vita version could be comfortably above 400k sales right now. We just have to wait a little more :)

Per Sinobi, they were expecting 400k for the Vita version and 200k for the PSP version.

They already shipped and will sell those numbers. They don't care.

Everything else is you being "pretty sure". Meaning... nothing.

You apparently don't know what port begging is.

Getting a core IP selling 750k let alone over 500k is not as easy as you make it seem really... And really, there isn't that many Zelda game per platform , I don't think the issue with Zelda is saturation (also, TP is one of the best selling entry of all time).

Yeah, I'm probably wrong about it, and as long as Nintendo can make it up in the west it's probably fine.

I'm inclined to agree (dunno about worldwide). ALBW didn't even manage to outsell Fire Emblem Awakening first week.

On the other hand, I don't really know what the Zelda team could produce that would sell better than Zelda.

They selling like hot cakes. Is this The New Year effect?

I think it's the New Year effect and just plain not very many copies being out there.

I mean, the standalone Final Fantasy X for Vita was sold out all over the fricking place, online and in stores, but it was only listed on the charts as having sold about 22,000. That seems kind of low for a nationwide online-and-offline sellout to me.
I wonder how many of each version SE shipped out.

They can't sell more copies than avaliable - retailers misread the demand and that's why it's been sold out for days now. Again it's too soon to measure ALBW general perception.

ALBW [USA]: 405.000
ALBW [JAP]: 225.418

Total: 630.418

Together with Europe it should be a million seller by now.

USA-number is just for November, so if it manages the same amount in December + additional european sales, it should've shipped 1.500.000 units in Q4. Poor Minish Cap didn't manage this LTD.

Very interesting.
So the console industry peaked once in 1997 and once in 2007.
PS1 was a monster in Japan.

Ah, you're right. I guess it could have outsold FE but not by much. Still, for one of their premier franchises, it isn't a lot. I guess when it comes to Zelda, they really do care more about the Western markets.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
Ok guys, it's been announced just for a generic "Sony hardware" so far, but Senran Kagura EV (as it seems it's called) could finally be the first PS4 announcement since TGS which is

1)NOT a Tecmo Koei game
2)NOT a porting / late porting
3)Exclusive to PS4

Maybe the time is now.

looking at those "Fantasy life producer" quote, can I port beg for Fantasy Life to the Westerns 3DSs or is it port begging?

So...an interesting Famitsu issue, for being just the 1st in 2014

[3DS] Senran Kagura 2
[PSV] Dekamori Senran Kagura aka Senran Kagura: Cooking All Night (don't bake it, baby!)
[PS?] Senran Kagura Eestival Versus, in the genealogy of SV (maybe PS4, for real this time?)
[PSV] A brand new title from ASW, don't know if retail or digital or what it actually is
[3DS] Kumamon Puzzle, I suppose (based on...this: http://www.takara-univ.ac.jp/tokyo/news/2013/04/19/mzl.pbgxruml.320x480-75.jpg )
[3DS] Ultra Baseball Card Game (I believe) from Culture Brain
[PS3] Onimusha Soul (console version of the social game)

Especially because there could be a PS4 game among these announcements.

Poor MC was released too late (late 2004/early 2005), when DS was already available.

Nor was as good as ALBW IMO.

I bought a bundle, and there's no way I would've bought Wii Party U otherwise.

But would you have bought NSMBU otherwise ;)? Considering the attach rate for NSMBU, I'd say counting NSMBU bundles in this list is not much more unfair than couting it if it got a price cut. I know that if I was in Japan, I'd buy a Wii U that's not a bundle, because NSMBU would only be a download and I think Wii Party U is a stinking pile of waste. If I wasn't opposed to download games though, I'd of course take the bundle, because I'd get a Wiimote and a Nunchuk for the same price as Wii U and Mario bought separately on top of it.

consider it's a CERO Z title, so it can't be advertised as the other games

GTAV and Luigi are probably the biggest surprise of 2013 in term of sales
