Rarely is the focus of making mistakes, can disappear like most 3rd liners, but when he stands out he looks like a world beater with his size and speed. Getting 18 goals screams aberration but he's young and he can really bring the 3rd line to life so I think he's valuable. I've heard some people say he's just a benificiary of the system, but hell if I know if there's any weight to that. In terms of potential I don't see him as a top 6 guy ever. Also his nickname is Bang Bus. So there's that.

I mentioned this awhile back but I finally got around to putting together a list of hockey stuff I'm looking to swap/giveaway. Id prefer to swap the jerseys for ones I dont have but we'll see what happens. I can send pics if you want them. Shoot me a PM if youre interested.

Winnipeg Jets (XXL - read the tag wrong and bought the wrong size. Thankfully it was on clearance. Never worn.)

Boston Bruins (XL - never worn. Tags came off and it was hung in my closet)

NY Islanders (XL - never worn. Tags came off and it was hung in my closet)

NY Rangers (XL - never worn. Tags came off and it was hung in my closet)

Buffalo Sabres (XL - worn a couple times. White Buffaslug jersey)

Calgary Flames (M - pretty worn in but still in good shape. Red 80s CCM jersey)

Pittsburgh Penguins (tag is missing but im presuming M because its the same fit as the Flames one. Early 90s black CCM jersey)

NJ Devils (XL - worn during pickup games but still in good shape. 90s CCM white jersey)

Florida Panthers (M - worn during pickup games but still in good shape. 90s Pro Player white jersey)

Thanks man. I don't say it often enough but I really do appreciate these posts. You're basically my go-to news compilation for all things Rangers.

edit: And in response, I can't wait until Graves is seen as fully ready, which I expect will be soon enough. Holden has value and will/should be moved for something unless we somehow manage to move Staal before next season which I highly doubt. Once Staal/Kampfer are our 7th D things will be pretty great. Would much rather hang on to Holden but that's unrealistic and his contract is up after this season. He'd be a great 7th D/vet to have around for the bottom pairing and can slot up to the 2nd. I expect we'll see: McDonagh, Shattenkirk, Skjei, Smith, DeAngelo and Graves/Pionk as our regular full time squad by next season. Nicely done, Gorts.

Now to see what happens at C with Chytil, who has totally earned his 9 games at least, and Miller, and Desharnais. Once Fast is back things will change. He's important. As was Lindberg, sadly. I'm happy we kept Fast but in retrospect losing both Step AND Lindberg really hurt that position. Keeping Lindberg would have made things a lot easier on us this year I feel, even though I think Fast is the better player overall. We'll see. My expectations will be very tempered with regards to Chytil but I'm already impressed.

Carey I don't mind having up to start the season but I do agree that having both Carey AND Desjardins is odd. And I REALLY expect Carey to be the opener. Desjardins is our new Glass =/ I expect Desjardins, but I also thought Lettieri made a solid case for himself. He's close and will likely be a call up I'm assuming. Nieves as a 4th C isn't horrible but I prefer Desharnais to start the season. I wanna see what a line like Carey-Desharnais-Fast can do. Or Vesey-Desharnais-Fast, depending on Chytil leaving or staying. If he leaves we need Miller at C. We may anyway, but Vesey-Hayes-Miller is a great line imo. We have no rockstars, but we have solid guys in all positions and a D that is SO much more mobile and better at moving/carrying the puck. Should be fun after an adjustment period. I'm more concerned with the net situation than anything else atm tbh. If we get last year's Lundqvist (regular season) and a developing but inconsistent Pavelec, things aren't great. Though I do prefer our call up options in Nell and Georgiev. Looking forward to Shesty.

One thing I should point out from that news update that has become clearer over the course of the day is that Andrew Desjardins is still only on a PTO. He is not signed to a contract, and as of right now that's not expected to change. He doesn't want to be released from the PTO, though, as it gives him a place to continue to practice, and for the Rangers it gives them an extra body to line up with the injured but skating Jesper Fast in drills, as well as an immediate emergency option in case the Filip Chytil experiment implodes in the face of real NHL competition.

So basically these are the four forward lines to start the season for the Rangers, though the exact configuration of these lines may be tweaked in practice over the next week:

Kreider-Zibanejad-Buchnevich
Nash-Chytil-Zuccarello
Grabner-Hayes-Miller
Vesey-Desharnais-Carey
