Hoping for the WE to be shipped Tuesday or Wednesday. Wednesday would probably be better just because it should mean I'd be able to be home to get it.

Not really hard for that to happen. lol But would be funny nonetheless.

They did push this game really hard here. There is a lot of signs up at my local Gamestop for Ni No Kuni too and they mentioned something about probably not having enough steel cases to cover all the preorders.

I just hope they push Xillia hard like they're doing with this.

I went to GS to pick up Far Cry 3 and asked the employee when Ni No Kuni was going to be released (not taking a chance of it coming out 1 day early), he told me Tuesday and that I should reserve because he barely have any left. Not sure about the steel box but if their saying this about the game in general then that's a good sign I guess.

So either GS's don't get a lot of copies of this game or this game is really selling.

Just finished the demo. Took a minute to get a feel for the combat (still not wholly sure of it), but between that, the visuals, and everything else I have seen plus the great reviews, I think I'm going to love this game. Hopefully it does well now.

Currently trying to gather all of the trophies in Okami HD in an attempt to avoid buying this on launch day. I can do it.

What were some of the reasons for the average score in Game Informer?

Major criticisms were things like "old school RPG mechanics", "cheap boss battles", story/characters not as polished as the world, not enough save points (in dungeons since you can save everywhere except dungeons), limited time to choose 'Defend/Evade' in battle, and forced random encounters. The latter of which was weird since after a certain level the monsters RUN AWAY FROM YOU but until you get to that level, they chase you, obviously, just like in most RPGs where you have encounters that occur in the same manner where they detect you and run after your character.

It seems to me like the gripes were mainly because the game was 'hard'.

I am getting both, playing the regular edition until me WE arrives, then giving the regular one to my sister. I'm keeping the steelbook for myself, though. Hehe

Does it give you an error when you try to look it up? It shows my order, but I can't view the invoice or any of the details.

For future reference to anyone who wants to see their invoice, do not use the NamcoBandai site. Use Digital River's Findmyorder.com site. It's really dumb but their shop is really badly made, lol.

So basically the invoice is through that site, and the url it's looking for is likely a local link? I can see the invoice now. Tried my email and card number and it didn't bring up my Ni no Kuni order, was a little worried.... but I see it now.

Edit: Yep, local link.

Damnit, Amazon. I ordered the strategy guide back when it had "Get on on release day!" delivery, but they haven't shipped it yet. Between this and the WE saying it won't ship until after the release day of 1/22, I'm kind of miffed. I know, I know...EU people, I now know your plight.

My experience with Amazon has usually been that if it seems like they're cutting it close on when they should ship it, they usually make up for it by using a faster shipping method. The only time I had anything come late was like a week or two ago when I ordered a school book and the weather was really bad.

Yeah, Amazon loves waiting until the last minute these days. The guides and games have most likely already arrived at a distribution centers around the US and will be sent out through next day air tomorrow. Then Amazon won't update tracking numbers until tomorrow evening.

...and even then it feels like a lot of reviewers are semi-rushing to meet deadline so they aren't doing side missions causing parts of the game to be harder than they would be if they did some form of grinding. We'll see just how true that is once I get the game. haha

Yeah for real. I wouldn't want to be rushed through an RPG. A lot of the time I'll fight pretty much everything I run into until it stops being worth the fights. But it seems like they're just running through trying to reach the end. I couldn't imagine attempting that on Dragon Quest VIII. Action games are much more manageable. But the fact that the game is still getting good reviews despite that is good.

I have heard from people who had the import that the game starts off easy but it does start to ramp up. So rushing probably would make them hit a wall here and there.

Admittedly I would consider a mandatory grind a flaw, but that really depends on how much is needed and if there's supposed to be a natural way around that if you don't rush, IE just exploring to see where you can go in Dragon Quest, or sidequests in games like Xenoblade.

Sounds like they'd complain if it was forced grinding. Sounds like the game is just harder if you rush, but doesn't sound like it prohibits rushing through.

Mine just arrived! Mate bought it super cheap for me in HK and sent it on Friday. Arrived quick!

Gotta say I'm surprised the box art is so minimal - they really could have made it awesome like the JP cover with some great Ghibli art. As it is most people aren't going to know what it even is.

God damn I wish Tuesday would hurry up! Imma buy the fuck outta this game! Last JRPG I played was Tales of Graces. It was a good game but I had just played Tales of Vesperia (which was fucking great!) right before it.

Edit: Been playing Dragon Quest VIII and watching Ghibli movies in anticipation.

Yeah, there's probably sidequests, or at least monster recruiting that'll do it, or at least grinding for recipe ingredients so you at least have more of a purpose in grinding.

The side missions don't really net you anything besides money and food (usually, sometimes armor/ weapons), so they don't really affect the leveling of your character (unless you count the small xp boost in bounty missions). Merit awards from completing your sidequest stamp cards are good for perks in battle and outside of battle I suppose.

But there definitely is grinding involved at some points if you want to get the most out of the game. Mostly if you capture a new familiar/ evolve one, as they start at or go right back to level 1.

But playing through the game at a pretty leisurely pace I can say that rushing through this is noooot a good call.

I was able to look up my order as well as the invoice through Namco's store.

I'll be really bummed if they end up cancelling my Wizard's Edition order :(

My excitement for this game, and a quick glance at my shelf, makes me realize what a disappointment this gen has been for great RPGs, both on the PS3 and just in general. Hopefully this release will revitalize the genre a bit.

I just can't wait, man.

Yep, FF XIII was such a letdown, as well as the lack of Versus XIII which will most likely come out on PS3 after the PS4 has been out for a while just like FF XII on PS2.

So close!! I have been dying to play another great jrpg since xenoblade, I need this game in my veins.

I'm still chugging my way though Xenoblade, I feel bad having to put this on the shelf next to The Last Story (another great game I've barely touched) but starting another console JRPG while still playing another one is gaming suicide.

Demo was a bit of a let down, but after GT review I`m interested again.

Till I get it maybe I will give Eternal Sonata another approach ;)
