Got $40 from the deluxe plan yesterday after buying all my games for my new WiiU, have $70 on the eshop now... hm

Armillo and Guac for sure, no idea what I'll get after that. May hold onto it for upcoming VC/Indie games.
You already have Shovel Knight? If not or if your are in Euroland save $15 for that.

Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?
Do you title every single one of your posts?
Most. I stopped doing it if I intend to post more than once in couple of minutes, or just edit my post. Also, during sporting events threads. I got complaints one time.
Well, the beginning of SMT4 is arguably the hardest part of the whole game. Although personally I didn't have any problems with it and I know other people who didn't either, I've read/heard some people refer to it as the part that "you gotta push through" to get to the good part. I think it's a great beginning and love it, but beware, I guess.
I can't remember how long it takes before you start playing, but I'm pretty sure it gets going pretty quick or at least I don't remember having any problems with that and I'm usually pretty easilly annoying with games that take a while to let you play. You can save and stop playing pretty much whenever you want, so there's that if you want to go sleep (or you could just close the 3DS and pick up in the morning where you left off, the 3DS can sleep as well).
Gonna start now actually. Horror story, I had to hold down the Bravely Default cart when I realized mid-way through ejecting it that I hadn't saved in a few hours and the nearest save point was 3+ minutes away. It was very painful.
Sir yes sir!
(I'm on mobile, I only see like four words of tags)
It took a long time to get this tag !!

Pulling the (belated) trigger on Umihara Kawase. I'm guessing there's no discount announced for the foreseeable future (for EU, that is)?

Crazy dedication.
You have no idea how many posts I've scrapped because I couldn't think of one. Sometimes they sit for hours if not days in my mobile browser.

Can someone fill me in on the Streetpass Plaza stuff that's on sale? I'm going to a convention extremely soon (RTX) and I'm wondering if they're worth my time more than Shovel Knight or something cheaper.

I would like to be sold on ACIV or Darksiders 2. I've never played an AC because from watching friends play some and my limited experience playing the first one it has never interested me. But I love the pirate setting and people praise the game. I don't give a shit about the series story.

I have played Darksiders and found it a mostly solid game, fun enough for one playthrough but on the whole a little long winded and repetitive in the level design. I understand the game is much bigger this time around so I fear the level design is worse, I'm not into character action games so the combat is probably not a selling point to me but probably won't hurt, and I like loot whore rpgs so that aspect intrigues me, though I've heard some negative reactions to it.

Shameless self quote. Anybody feel like recommending one or the other given my specifications? The sale makes me want to jump on one but I don't know which one :(

You mean the games, right? I recommend getting the deal for all of them for $15. If you're only getting one, then my favorites are Mii Force and Monster Manor, but Flower Town is really good too and getting three of them for $15 when you can get the extra one essentially for free makes no sense. They're all pretty great and I recommend getting them, specially if you're going to a convention.

Hm, Devil Survivor Overclocked for $15 sounds kind of tempting. Never played one of the Devil Survivor games before.

Well, I haven't played either, but maybe I can help you with AC4.

I also have a very limited experience playing the first AC. I found it very boring. Then I got AC2 for free on my Xbox 360: the settings are fine, the open world thing is cool but... it was very boring.

Now, AC4 is on sale on the eshop for US$ 20. I spent a few days fighting the urge to buy it, because it looks like a cool game. Then I watched the first 20 minutes of an AC4 Let's Play video... and it looked very boring ^_^

Aostia

El Capitan Todd
Bought Scram already because of all of the hype from you guys. Will look into Unepic and Kung Fu... already played and beat Toki Tori 2 =)

shinen shooter too is very good (nano assault neo?), trine2 and runner2 if you had not played them yet

As bored as I was of the first AC, I managed to slog through it. I am about 50 hours into AC4 (ps4 version) and I love it. The ship battles are a blast. I honestly don't really follow the lore, the whole animus thing with its conspiracies., but I love the core gameplay. I got shanties on my mind, and I can't wait to get finished work for the day to go back to playing. I don't think I want to collect every little thing, but I have done a fair bit, and it's optional of course.

Just to clarify...If I had some surveys and what not expire on my Club Nintendo account, there's no way to get those back is there?

I probably had like 300 points expire on me. I'm dumb, I know.

Zonic

Gives all the fucks
Not sure if it was mentioned, but it seems the Tomodachi Life demo is now on the eShop (US). Same as the Move-In/Welcome Edition that came with copies of the game, except for no panda suit & a 20-play limit.

While playing AC2, I loved running aroung the city and jumping on the rooftops. However, every single time I had to complete a mission it was a real pain. I hated escort missions, I hated eavesdropping missions... hell, I even hated assassination missions :)

Do you think I would still enjoy AC4? I mean, is it possible to ignore all missions and still have fun with this game?

EDIT: What I mean is, can I play AC4 as if it were Skyrim?

I guess I need to look into how the Deluxe Set promo works. I've got the Deluxe, three games, but haven't received any $5 codes yet (apparently by my own inaction)

I got MK8 and now I'm torn between Wind Waker and Pikmin 3. I'm leaning towards Pikmin because I already beat Zelda on the GC years ago, but I never played a Pikmin game so I'm unsure about it. Is there any reason to not get Pikmin 3?

Haven't played Darksiders 2, but I can recommend ACVI. It's the only one I've played and I had a blast. It's great fun sailing on the seas with your crew singing sea shanties. If you're OCD about collecting everything I could see the game being a slog to play through though. Also, the missions can get repetitive like the tailing stuff. Since this was the first and only one I played I never really got burnt out by them. If you want to sail some seas, check out some islands, destroy and take over enemy ships, then pick it up. I should say I played it on PS4 so I'm not sure how the Wii U version stacks up to it, but I'm sure it's fine.

Off topic, but I made a thread in the OT you might be interested in.

For every $50 you spend on the eshop you get a $5 code on the digital deluxe promo website.

^^^ Ah right. No interest there then. I'll rarely be spending that much on the eShop

Only if you've watched videos and felt that it wouldn't interest you. It's an extremely fun series imo and Pikmin 3 is easily the best yet.

Got two codes for WWHD and Pikmin 3 so now I have a total of $17.86! Kind of debating between Shovel Knight and Earthbound but I'm willing to try other things too!

Pikmin 3 is amazing. It's a great entry point to the series, too. You've played WW before so I'd definitely hold off on that in comparison unless you're super eager to replay it immediately.

I'm recommending Kung Fu Rabbit to the point where it is probably getting on people's nerves, but: Kung Fu Rabbit is dirt cheap and tons of fun. Related thread:

Even just acquiring a code through the MK8 promotion gets you $5 credit?

The way it works is you accrue 1 point for every 10 cents you spend on the eShop, either by purchasing a game or by redeeming a code for one (you'll get the points equivalent to whatever the current price is when redeeming the code). The site keeps track of how many points you have, and when you reach 500, it automatically converts them to a $5 code which you can grab by logging in. So if you get Pikmin 3 for example, you'd get 599 points for that, which would lead to a $5 code + 99 points left over.

I'd point out this apparently isn't 100% true, although I thought it was -- my Kickstarter code for Shovel Knight didn't get me anything. So what the criteria for points from codes is, I'm not sure.

Interesting... that's odd

edit: it just occurred to me, did you download the game the night before it was released when they sent the codes out early? Maybe that's why, since I suppose if it's not available to purchase then it doesn't have a price to earn points with.

That could be the case. I won Mutant Mudds on Twitter and got full points for that code.

Cool. Between NSMBU and WW then, I should have $10...? I'll check when I get home.

Of course I did! Why wouldn't I live my life with that kinda swag. Neat theory though. I certainly hope that's not the issue, but could be.

I think you could play it your own way, I can't think of any forced missions excepting the very start of the game. However, your avenues get opened up by completing missions, so your sandbox will be limited - getting your ship being an example.

As much as I love the game and would like to recommend it to you, I can't. If you don't like missions you won't get much out of it. Maybe with a cheat code with everything unlocked, if there was such a thing (PC maybe?)

Only reason I would say avoid Pikmin is if you don't have wiimote and nunchuk (motion plus or not, doesn't matter). Tried it once with dual analog controls and was not liking it at all. Though that being said they did add a touch screen control option similar to the Pikmin game in Nintendoland, didn't they? Maybe that could work well too.

Amazing game otherwise though.

Have $10 in my eShop account. Should I put it towards Toki Tori 2+ which is $6 or something else?

Lots of games around that price. Scram Kitty and 1001 Spikes are both brilliant and $10. Or you could throw in an extra $5 and get Shovel Knight (do this).

Armillo is $6 tomorrow, and that's a promotional early price. If you wanted to do this and pick up a cheaper indie alongside, there's a few good ones at $3 and under.

Already have Shovel Knight. 1001 Spikes I'd rather get on PS4/Vita since it's cross buy and I don't really know what Scram Kitty and Armillo are

Can't speak for Armillo(I hate the way it looks), but Scram Kitty is pretty damn amazing. There really isn't much else like it to really compare it to though, so a description is a little hard. It's mechanically perfect pretty much, in the way of games like Contra or Shovel Knight in that it's always possible to get though a sitiuation with no damage if you are good enough, without some cheap design tactics to ramp up the difficulty artificially. The shooting and screw attack(don't know what else to call it) takes some getting used to, but once you do, there is a notice difference in how well you play. Definitely worth the time, though it's fun right from the start. It even does a good job of teaching you how to play without having a blatant tutorial getting in the way. Again, great level and game design.

I actually think that might be the case. You might want to contact Nintendo and ask them. I used a backer code as well, but I didn't d/l till release day, and I did get DDP points.

I'm interested to try the touch screen option, as well, since it worked so well in Nintendo Land, but in the meantime I agree that Wiimote+ and Nunchuk is the GOAT control scheme for the game, esp. with the GamePad by your side as a map.

Something feels really off about how much battery the 3DS has. Is it's sleep mode not practically infinite like the Vita? It's like an hour or two of gameplay is disappearing between when I go to sleep and when I pick it up the next day.

I've heard it's like that if you enable streetpass since it's always looking for other 3DS systems

It has to do with StreetPass and SpotPass constantly looking for connections. The system is made to be left on the charging cradle in sleep mode when you're home and not using it, that way you can go to sleep and wake up with it fully charged for the day ahead.

Well, I'm just gonna turn StreetPass off. Not putting up for a charger for a 3DS that's not mine. Is there an easy way to toggle that?
