I doubt this will happen , but after Reggie's spiel , it be nice to hear him say Please join us on This date @ Gamescom (No that can't happen)/This venue for the unveiling of the NX. Actually i can't see them doing that, E3 organisers would be pretty mad.
I lie in the middle of all this. I agree that E3 is a massive opportunity for Nintendo. It is the most watched/second most watched (Gamescom is just as big, perhaps bigger now) gaming event of the year. It history certainly makes it the biggest. To not have anything other than Zelda is really disappointing.
I can understand after the shit show that was last year why they have made this decision. But they still got a lot of announced games that aren't going to get shown.
If they felt they didn't have enough stuff to show at E3, and wanted to avoid the same anger as last year, surely the best solution would have been to have a direct now, or next week, two weeks before E3, what ever, and just simply say we hope you look forward to playing these games at E3, or please watch our extended tree house coverage with these games.
But at the same time E3 needs to change. They made some good moves by allowing in some consumers for the first time. Not much but some. Activision, EA, Disney etc are giving this a.. not a miss, no doubt some of their games will be there in some form (on stage too). But they are still missing it and preferring their own shows where they can allow fan access to the new games.
Then we have traditional E3 game announcements being done a month before E3. We have had a FF15 show, COD, Persona, and today Battlefield 5 announcements. A lot of the spectacle and mystery has been lost. All things you would have expected to be shown for the first time at E3.
I'm not sure what has happened with the NX E3 plans, whether something has gone wrong, or that they simply want to show this on their own terms. Perhaps at their own event, or at Gamescom where 350,000 people will get hands on with it if they decided to do so. And perhaps that is what they want to avoid, a repeat of the Wii U press mauling they received.
