Unannounced First party games
Plus they have other 3rd Party Games that have not been announced due to NDA's expiring after the launch window.
Should be a big show. Plus two new consoles and their games getting their big presentations. E3 should be crazy.
Square and Enix merged. SE bought Taito and Eidos recently. It helped them with their financials a lot.
WB bought Midway and the products they launched since were all high quality (mortal combar for example)
i really havent seen that kind of staff exodus with any of nintendos acquisition. I know that it happened with companies they sold off
overall i think it is way to conservative. nintendo could have bought some studios in japan and NA that were struggling and they would have been valuable additions to their existing workforce. Sure some people will leave but I dont think everyone will go independent when they have a pretty solvent employer.
Its japanese -> korean (done by loycuter) and then korean -> english done by me on my ipad
Sorry for that
Say they have prepayed nfc cards. You wouldnt be needing to put a 25 letter code in.
I think so. He would stress that GPU is good or that they are making a cheaper hardware or something like that.. I think he feels that the architecture is misunderstood
Metroid Prime 4.... please.
If they actually made a proper console Pokemon mmo with card trading/scanning they would need to build a money bin ala Scrooge McDuck.
Actually what Miyamoto says is kinda true.Right, and when you finally express that understanding, maybe I'll reconsider buying one. I'm not in the habit of dropping $350 and then waiting for something to prove its "charm." I doubt many people are.
Stop trying to sell this thing with promises, and just make some flipping games.
It happened with Retro Studios. Miyamoto-San up-ended the tea tables in mid development of Metroid Prime and decided that the game needed to be a first-person shooter. A lot of people at Retro Studios were pissed about that and didn't like it. Miyamoto essentially said "tough shit", and a lot of people bolted to form their own studio.
Granted, in the end Miyamoto was absolutely correct, but this is just an example of a massive loss of talent because of development cultures clashing. Buying Retro at the time was a huge risk for Nintendo and it was almost looking like it wouldn't pay off. Obviously now, it's been a great investment. But it didn't start that way.
This is what I was thinking. Go into a brick and mortar shop. Pick up Nintendo currency cards or buy cards for specific titles and items, plop card down on NFC reader and away we go.
I never understood all the hate for Iwata. Guy seems like a straight shooter to me. Nothing he has ever said turned out to be bullshit. We may not always like his philosophy, but I think he comes across as one the few genuine guys in the industry.
I like him a lot. But his conservatism regarding growth and M&As is a huge mistake that is really showing now.
I agree. I love Nintendo, and will always support them. I know they will always get the most out of their systems, but I would like to see more third party games and in order to get that they will have to adjust their hardware philosophy.
Well even if that happened retro grew after metroid prime and is one of their most succesful studios.
Also retro was not a succesful studio when they bought them. Nintendo could have bought a lot of succesful studios for dirt cheap the last few years but they didnt

What im saying is that they should have bought struggling third party devs and include them into their first party workforce
It seems like the wii u shouldve just launched in February or March WW. Maybe that wouldve given it enough time to avoid the massive updates and messed up miiverse. On top of a more steady release period. As it stands now this would be my guess:
March- Lego City and MH3U (everyone forgets MH for some reason)
April- Game & Wario
May- wii fit u
June- pikmin 3
July- wii party u
August- the wonderful 101
September- the wind waker hd
October- yarn yoshi
Holiday- Mario Kart and/or 3D Mario
Yup, as I said, nothing to really excite me. Some stuff I'm interested in taking a look at (X, Bayonetta 2 and LoZ:TWW HD) but nothing that's getting me excited. Bayonetta 2 might blow people away although i never played 1 so I don't have that love for it - yet.
Basically if they announce that Wii U is getting a GTA V then that's more hype inducing for me than anything they have currently talked about. Of course if Retro shows some mature epic title I'll pee myself.
They should buy one of the millions of mobile game makers and have them make bite-sized Nintendo titles for iOS/Android to promote their console/handheld releases. I know fans will cry about that idea, but if Nintendo did that we'd all be playing them and looking forward to the next one. A Mario endless side-runner to promote NSMB2 would have been great. Especially considering there's endless-running levels in the game.
Yeah make em compatable then. You bought the studio. You pay them money, either they choose to work in the same environment or they leave. As i said there are always people leaving companies when m&a happens but most of them just stay because they cant afford to just move away. And they would've had to go through the same headaches they initially went through with Retro, if not worse.
People screaming that Nintendo should've bought Vigil make me shake my head. Isn't Darksiders II the ONLY time they've ever developed on a Nintendo platform? And people want them to buy the company? Come on now.
Studios like Next Level Games, Mistwalker, Monster Games, and Platinum Games....who have had a lot of experience working with Nintendo's internal teams, understands the development culture, and has regular contacts and communication with Nintendo would all make sense as acquisition targets. But studios like Vigil? No. The culture would've been completely incompatible.
The expansion needed to begin 10 years ago, but at least they seem to understand its necessity now.
I don't think they have any great ideas for the GamePad's use in gameplay though. They just talk about asymmetrical multiplayer anytime the subject comes up. The GamePad is great for Miiverse and some of the non-gaming functions, but I think they overestimated how much gameplay application it would have.
Just give me Pikmin 3 though, and my purchase is justified.
Let them make eshop games.. Why ios games..?
We definately need more employees internally and externally so we are strengthening our development teams.

d.
I'm not sure how making a game for iOS would cause a person to buy a 3DS to play the full thing, especially since they already have it on iOS...I think the idea is to use ios to push people to their main platforms. The "games" are essentially promotions to hook potential buyers.
At least that's how I took it.
You can get GTA V everywhere else probably.. Why would that be more exciting than games you cant get anywhere else?

I bought a Wii u for my son and have been sneaking in some NMB play but man are Nintendo franchises tired you can k my do the same roster of games so many times...
I'm really looking Foward to some new franchises from them Pikmin was bold and new why not try something new again...?
Well it's a good thing they have a few new franchises coming along.
I hope so cause as of right now there is not a damn thing to play on this

That's the point I'm arguing. Now that talent has left, all Nintendo has are buildings and IP. The actual talent behind that IP, the stuff that's actually important? Gone.
And I'm not ignoring the point you made afterwards, but in game development....especially WESTERN game development? I'm pretty sure that leaving to do your own thing is fairly common. Especially after M&A happens.
It's not worth it. Iwata's take on this is correct.
People said that about the ds too but at the end of the day there was a lot of crazy shit that justified the dual screens. (ouendan, jump ultimate stars, touch kirby, henry hatsworth, the world ends with you etc etc). Adopting that on wiiu alone would make it good for me

Kirby and Hatsworth are great, but I'm not sure you're going to see games like Ouendan or Kirby where the main play area is on the touchscreen. I just doubt the marketability of games that force you to play entirely on the GamePad.
Hatsworth also requires you to jump back and forth between the two screens rapidly, which you can do easier on DS than you can on Wii U.

If you go by what Nintendo has said, it sounds like a completely new CPU architecture with modifications for backwards compatibility.

Since GTAV is now coming out September 2013, I think it has a better chance of there being a Wii U version, Rockstar did say they "love Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft"
So hopefully Nintendo convinced them that making a Wii U version would be good, it could help the system and it was one of the first rumored games for Wii U.
If that was the case then why is Q1 empty?
Unless Nintendo is funding the port, I'd say there is little chance it shows up on Wii U.
