People might be buying WiFi only and SIM only more at full price for Christmas, I know one or two who've done so myself, but subsidised deals help the take-up of devices like this significantly all year round. The cost spreading flexibility available, in smartphones in particular, makes it very hard to make meaningfully direct comparisons re: popularity / interest vs products that do not have that luxury.
I was referring to the unplayable framerate.

As for the devices, you listed "Galaxy S3, iPad, iPod and Nexus"

iPod won't be subsidised. Nexus 7 can be, but most sales will be upfront as with the majority of tablets. Same with iPad - I doubt a large proportion of sales are 3G for iPads, majority will be Wifi, so upfront cost, no subsidising. Nexus 4 and Galaxy S3 are the only ones in your list that would be heavily subsidised, and even for the Nexus 4 most people will probably order it from Google direct since the Sim free version is £110 cheaper than the same model at CPW.
 
I don't see where it's written that game consolescan't be subsidized. Like someone said in a 3DS/Vita comparison recently, you can't blame smartphone companies for putting out more compelling products with more appealing pricing options.
 
I don't think Nintendoland sales are that useful. It's available separately from any bundles, and there are three console bundle options, Basic, Premium+Nintendoland and Premium+Zombi U.

At the very least we can look at those sales as a yardstick for an extimation of the minimum Wii U hardware; as a matter of fact all the people who bought NintendoLand purchased a Wii U console as well so that makes more than 65k consoles sold.

I think that's true, and I also think we might see that next generation from Microsoft if their Live subscription experiment is anything to go buy... it'd be one way to help exorbitantly expensive consoles sell in the early days.

I accidentally typed iPod instead of iPhone. I disagree with regard to the Android tablets in particular -- I think there are many good, and very well advertised deals about at the moment. While I think £160 is impulse buy territory for a device of that nature, I think there will be a lot of people taking advantage of the various subscription deals and bundles this Christmas. iPad is a premium product with a lot of weight and momentum behind the brand, I can believe that people interested in one are more likely to pay for one, but again -- subsidies and flexible pricing do help the overall numbers. Apple themselves offer finance on their store for purchases over £429 btw, I can see a lot of people using that too.

That's not the bit that you misrepresented, as you well know. My issue lies with the description of the framerate as 'unplayable'. Since I own the console version and have put 30 hours into the Vita version, I'm pretty sure I'd have noticed an 'unplayable' framerate. I can only conclude that the issue lies with herod's Vita.

yeah, it seems logical that an otherwise perfectly fine system misbehaves in one game just when it is at its busiest. I don't know how you can stand it; the controls become like they're stuck in mud, failure first time is almost certain due to the sludginess, making repeat attempts necessary not based on ability but on technical failure. All this despite only running at 640x368.

I haven't had any framerate issues with MW vita either

bolocks. Even the official playstation magazine review referred to performance issues when the game is busy:

"Frame rates are generally extremely playable too, but there is the odd race in heavy traffic in which you’ll feel the poor Vita strain to keep its head above 20 frames per second, particularly when a few other racers are on-screen."

where obviously the odd race = the Most Wanted races where you have racers, police, stingers and checkpoints all on the screen. Unfortunately these represent the main career path in the game.

Dunno what to tell you chap. I've completed the game and whilst it doesn't always hold a solid 30FPS, it's nowhere near as bad as you describe.

well, sub 20 fps is not a solid fucking port, that's all I was pointing out really. I have much higher expectations I guess.
 
Most wanted races are all 1 v 1 for me so far

theres lots of cops sure and in some high traffic areas it does get slowdown but nothing horrib;e


Asscreed vita framerate much more niticable uneven imo

It's feature complete with an 'extremely playable' framerate, despite having the best graphics an open-world portable racer has ever had. I have no idea which handheld set your expectations but I'll queue up to buy it when I find out.

Official Playstation Magazine said it was "generally extremely playable", implying that there could be some times in which it isn't. That snippet doesn't disprove the point.
 
I also have about 20 hours on NFSMW Vita and it never became "unplayable". The framerate takes hits sometimes yeah, but nothing game breaking. * shrugs *
