I'm not sure the point of Ying's teleport skill.

I mean I get the doubles: Those heal so put them on the point or near the payload and heal your teammates as best as you can (not as good as Pip's 1000 heal AoE, but will heal slowly), while firing your primary from a distance, but I'm not getting the point of the teleport beyond hoping to debuff if you were burning and even then you'd have to place a clone out of the way. Not really worth it, IMO.

Buck seems all together useless. The shotgun on him (and Bruik) is just dumb. The alt-fire doesn't seem particularly useful with the default card loadouts and while he has a heal, his jump doesn't do any damage or anything beyond hoping to pop-past Fernando and pop them with the shotgun behind their shield.

Also I'm not sure how you're supposed to get all 4 skills fully buffed (if you ever are) it seems like the item/purchase in-game/round cash system is kinda slow. You want to buff your shotgun to level 3 but it takes like 3 of the 4 Siege rounds to do that.

I don't think aggression (+5% damage) is always the best choice. I think often you want something else with a bigger impact. Cauterize (-30% healing debuff added to your shots) is particular good against heavy healing classes and you'll end up getting much more damage out out that than 5% weapon shot damage (doesn't apply to ability damage). You can max it out but you don't necessary want to since the cost to get rank 3 takes much more credits than if you diversify your buffs. In most games I don't max out at rank 3 on any ability, unless it seems appropriate as in my buff strategy is working really well or the game goes really long.

Depending on your loadout or character, deft (faster reloads) is often a very good pick and you'll probably get more damage out of that than aggression. When I play cassie I have a large quiver already so the reload time doesn't seem important to that build.

You'll want to consider what your team is getting for buffs, as well as what your opponents are getting. I don't think cauterize stacks so there is less reason to get multiple players with cauterize. If my opponents don't pick the damage reduction against my primary attack, I often pick aggression if I am damage. If they do pick the reduction, I pick the life conversion one (10% weapon attack = life gained) or the one you get 300 hp for every elimination.

I'm not really an expert on buck, but I do know landing on people does deal a bunch of damage (300 or maybe 400?). You'll want to focus in on lighter hp characters, basically non-tanks, or help focus fire with a teammate on a sturdier opponent. Flankers are great for just double teaming someone since they can leap right into the action and of course flank them from a vulnerable side.

As for Ying's teleport skill, it's meant to confuse primarily but you can also use it to get around. You can drop an illusion on a high ledge and then switch places with it. I often use it like a blink ability if I am being chased.

Starting to get the hang on Pip. Staying alive more and getting the timing and aim for healing down. And escaping with his movement skill. He is really fun to play!

Tried some other champions as well but I often start with one character until I learn the game a bit more. Easier to pick up new characters then.

I think I enjoy this more than Overwatch in some ways. Less focus on ultimates. They are good but not as good as in Overwatch.
Not as much waiting time. Still could skip or lower the time of "Customize your champion" and the time before rounds start could be lower. At least after you hit level 5 and stop playing against bots.

Hopefully the popularity help them get money so they can keep polishing the game. Gonna buy the start pack I think to support them.

I've had a few games as Buck, and he just needs to be played like a guerrilla fighter. Get behind enemy lines, leap in on unsuspecting foes, shotgun them until they(hopefully) die, and then leap out. Target supports, and other flankers primarily. Seek to annoy tanks and other attackers(be careful when fighting some of them, they out damage you). Start fights by hitting opponents with your net shot, since netted opponents take more damage from your shotgun, and just blast away. If they fight back, activate Recovery for heals. When you have your ult, make sure to unload most of your clip before using it, since Buck's ult fully reloads his shotgun and resets his cooldowns.

For his card loadout, I always max out the card that grants lower cooldown on his leap. Maxing out that card makes his leap have a 4 second cooldown. For his other cards, I just put two points into the following cards: +jump strength on Heroic Leap, +duration on Recovery, +faster reload time, +increased duration on Net Shot.

For in-game items, I always give him Deft Hands(shorter reload time) and Veteran(faster health regen when out of combat).

I wouldn't consider her to be an assassin character. She is one of my most played characters, I definitely wouldn't consider her ult to be weak. I think it's one of the stronger AOEs in the game that can't be blocked and is instantaneous. It's so strong that the damage had to be constantly nerfed over time to keep it in line.

She is still more of a support, her basic attack is high damage, low speed, aoe projectile (read artillery), ice block is pretty much just armour lock from Halo Reach (defensive troll ability), soar is just movement bonus, blink is another mobility ability and her ult is there to soften-up the enemy and slow them down. That is a kit of a support character. Unless she gets a drop on somebody at super close range she won't win any 1v1 when most characters have hit scan or fast flying projectiles. I am not saying she is bad, I play her a lot but I play her as artillery support, I just stand back and pummel the objective with explosive bolts but I feel like I could do that with Drogoz too and have other strong abilities. Whenever I tried to flank (as her role suggests) I just couldn't deal enough damage to actually melt anyone, especially not some strong healers like Grover. On the other hand when I take Skye I can murder pretty much everyone instantly and clear the whole objective single handedly without much effort using her ult.

I think Evie is unnecessarily difficult with very little payoff.

I just really disagree because of how mobile evie is. Using her as only artillery is really not utilizing her completely. Drogoz could only dream of being as mobile as evie is tbh. And she gets a 40% damage buff after she blinks, so if you're just taking long range shots hoping to connect then you're not likely squeezing every drop of damage out of evie. Plus she'll just get sniped down pretty quickly.

On the other hand, if you flank and catch people off guard or in 1v1 situations, like a flanker, you'll melt people. It's very difficult to 1v1 a good evie. They just shoot you once, blink somewhere behind or above you, shoot you again, ice block, break ice block and you're snared if you're too close, and finish you off. If you get the upper hand, they soar away. If you're losing and you try to escape, they either blink or soar and finish you off.

I think it's probably a good time for me to "branch out" from Damage stuff and try another class of champions. What first, though?

Also, the game is surprisingly CPU-heavy. I'm registering a 65%-ish average across all CPU cores on an i5-4590 with a GTX 970. I'm beginning to ponder if the game still feels great on an i3, or worse, CPU. (I run with the frame rate unlocked, vsync off, and NVIDIA Fast Sync on.)

Been playing this for the past couple days. I like it a lot. I think the only other shooter I've played like this is Team Fortress 2. Haven't tried Overwatch at all, but I can see the similarities between the two. I'll probably just stick with Paladins since it's free.

All right, I will try it like that. Could you perhaps record some gameplay of yours so I could see how you play her?

I wish I could. Maybe once I get a new PC but that could take a while. I also think I am merely okay with Evie tbh. I've seen people play her better than me.

I know a good FPSer who has been in the game since beta, I'll try asking him if he has footage of evie played well.

edit:
They also just nerfed her a bit. You used to be capable of blinking in ice block. I only realized now (when someone told me) that ice block was nerfed lol.

Any idea what is going on with Kinessa? I just had a game where I did 55k damage (2nd best) and got only 2 eliminations. It takes 2 fully charged headshots to kill the weakest characters. I vividly remember how I got killed by Kinessa many many times with one shot at full hp.

Doesn't her ult cause more damage on a headshot?

Payload is so much more fun than the other mode that it's not even funny. Game's finding its groove

I think it is a lot worse especially since it deletes your cards between turns.

It really has to because you're racing against time. My problem with the mode is that you don't have enough time to select a deck, purchase something, and get into position. And lots of new players wont' even realize you have to do that stuff really fast.

and the fact that only the first team gets overtime

Got a chance to play this. MUCH improved over the closed beta. Like so much better lol.

Pretty fun game! I don't know if I'd replace Overwatch with it but it's got its own charm to it. I feel like the hitboxes are a bit too generous though. I played a match as the sniper hero and it felt a little too easy because of it.

Looking forward to seeing where they go from here though. Definitely interested in seeing what they do for future characters.

I don't think you can. Mounts seem to just be for the rush out of spawn.

I thought I saw some videos where they mount up in the middle of battle.

If they removed it, kinda makes the "Faster mount speed" card upgrade pretty useless lol.

Has literally ANYONE ELSE experienced the audio stuttering issue? It's like every damn game for me, as well as an issue where framerate drops to 0 and then comes back up a second later every time I get a double kill/triple kill.

I need to know I'm not the only one, because I really want this issue to be fixed. Dropping the settings doesn't fix it. Like, at all.

I don't know if one would go as far as to say it replaces Overwatch--the two games are very similar, but also very different on several key fundamental areas: TTK, customization, matchmaking style, etc. But certainly play them both interchangeably. I think that's where the game's strength is. It's good on its own.

In the past yes. They removed that. I think because the maps are smaller now and mounts kinda made things too hard to diversify. Flanking was too easy imo.

The mount speed boost is actually pretty decent imo. It's cheap and basically shaves time off your respawn. And as a tank, ensures you get to the objective faster than the enemy.

I would like to see them revisit some of the stuff they had previously in future content. I was a big fan of old school siege mode. It had great pacing.

The faster mount speed card is just there so you can get back into battle from dying faster. It's also useful for tanks like Fernando and Barik, because they can get that card first and get to a control point first so they can lock it down.

Yeah, the huge map & the siege mode looks really fun & unique. Its like a game based on WoW battlegrounds.

Its a pity they made the game to be more like Overwatch now, just hoping they bring the siege mode back.

One thing I'll admit is that once they changed from blowing down walls moba style, to escort, the big maps didn't feel right. In fact, the mode kinda sucked and I stopped playing. Then they made these maps and it's much better.

But I would like them to try the whole destroying walls thing again. I think they were kinda smart to focus on this mode, but that one had a lot going for it too. I think some of the downsides were very long matches and there were times where there was less going on. But I appreciated the lows just as much as the highs.

This game has improved a lot since I last played it about 9 months ago, but it still doesn't do much for me aside from making me want to play Overwatch instead.

If you can't afford Overwatch, this seems like a great alternative. The female character designs are really disappointing though, it has to be said.

they might hirez is good at adding a bunch of game modes

Keep in mind there is some criticism over on Smite (for better or for worse) about Hi-Rez making too many modes, it could be something they want to avoid.

That said I miss the survival mode and hope that makes a return.

I don't know. His skils seem all together useless IMO. I think he needs an entire design overhaul. Ying's clones didn't click with me for a bit until I started to understand that the bomb/alt-fire with 2 is meant for tanks and then putting them down again to mop up damage on your team. (Not sure how practical that is outside of bots though).

I'm gonna pray I can hit 5 with him and then drop him before the bot matches apparently stop giving me EXP to level these classes up.

Game is amazing.
Needs more heroes and fix on some bugs etc, but generally is really good, especially if you have a friend to play with.
Ying is fucking outstanding and Fernando is really great tank to play.
I hope that Overwatch will have a free weekend, i want to compare both. I played Overwatch only in alpha like almost a year ago, but this game is just more fun to me when comparing to that old Overwatch build.

Ps. My match with Ying if anyone is interested: https://www.youtube.com/my_videos?o=U

I'm actually liking the short time I've spent with the game, and it looks pretty good whilst running better on my 750 ti than I would have thought. I only tried it out initially because a friend mentioned it had a fox character, and it turned out to be a nice free to play game to jump into.

Just wanted to ask if anyone has seen the ad for this game that has the elf girl giving up two peace signs. I swear they modeled this pose after a porn star named piper Perri who has an ad similar to this. Maybe I'm just seeing it wrong but I just thought it was a bit funny

They're ripping-off porn too?

Finally. Buck, who came here to
fucking go into the trash can
retire can be thrown away: Level 5 reached. >_>

Now to find another character I don't want to play to level up. >_>

Pip, the Solider 74 clone, and the Ferah clone are about the only three classes so far that I've tried and kinda enjoy playing.

So which Overwatch character is the new champ a clone of?

I kid, looks amazing. Probably my favorite support so far just going by first impressions.
