I don't expect P-A to exit this controversy in any worse shape really. They operate from such a place and market to a certain base where this kind of stunt is only going to make them more money. It's a shitty fight to latch onto, but I guess business gotta business.
Unfortunately for them, shitty pricing has always been my main beef with the idea of ordering from them so even if they're offering the new hotness I'll just settle for AmiAmi instead.

This is not about the goddam game. It is about PA seeing an easy marketing campaign by appealing to GG.
Even if we assume that's 100% true, if they could make a lot of money form releasing it, they would, and then they would deal with the crowd they don't want to deal, because money is more important.
Unfortunately, the real reason is because they don't think it would sell enough, whatever that means for them and this particular game. Maybe "dealing with the crowd" had an impact in raising the "good enough sales" bar a little bit (I doubt that, but maybe), but ultmately it's because they don't think it'll sell enough.

Dragon's Crown is one of the best designed games ever, more games should break from the norm and have ridiculous and grotesque art styles.
Vanillaware games don't sell that well, DC isn't Vanillawares only good game. Puppeteer which came out weeks before flopped despite having similar scores. Why do you think DC sold so well?

Never played the game but i do remember it coming to the OG Xbox back in the day. I was wondering what Team Ninja was doing.

Tecmo Koei claims DOAX3 won't come to the U.S. because of different climates in the NA/EU gaming space. Which isn't true because yhe real reason is that the DOA series is simply selling poorly in NA/EU.
Niche Gamer spins it as 'SJWs' gate walling their game from people who want it. Which isn't true because no one inn the U.S. outside of the niche that buys DOA knows it exists.
Play-Asia doubles down on the SJW fearmongering, ensuring gamers will buy from their site because THEYRE STANDING AGAINST THE BIG BAD SJW or some nonsensical bullshit. It's a shitty publicity stunt that will succeed because gamers are the worst.

I think its amusing to see all these people that say they won't buy products there anymore, and genuinely believe this will lose Play Asia business.
When in reality, most of the people that import games and use Play Asia to begin with, is for games like DOAX. Its why the Asian version of Moe Chronicle is a top seller there.

I think the bigger shocker is this means there was a DOAX2 made at some point.
So are the only options review scores and controversy?
Because I think one being an online co-op action game versus a platformer might have a tiny bit to do with it.
Not to mention Dragon's Crown got like a ton more marketing.

Man, I was totally cool with DOAX3 getting a western release. I wouldn't have bought it, but whatever, I wouldn't have campaigned against it not existing here either. But now if the game does come out here, I fear it's just going to make those petulant manbabbies who start campaigns like Gamergate feel justified and vindicated. And now, because of this stunt, I'm actually feeling like not wanting a western release.

Yeah I have a feeling most people importing Japanese games aren't going to be all that offended by that. If anything it's going to get thier name out to people who want to import, and if this is going to be the trend moving forward it might end up getting them a lot if sales long term.

1. This game is in an entirely different league. It might as well be a remake/refresh of the series. The ass is THAT good this time around.
2. DOAX2 only released on the 360, didnt it? A 360 only JP exclusive? I'll leave that to your imagination why the game sold as well as it did. The Last Remnant, Blue dragon, and Lost Odyssey were also top sellers as well. What a coincidence.
3. For the first time in the series, or any game for that matter, there are ass physics. TRUE ass physics and panty folds.
These are things to consider.

I'm not even sure why people want a western release of this game. In the past TK had mentioned that it could come to the west with alterations, and with all of the hand wringing about censorship lately, why not just import?

Funny thing is that, those of us who laugh way too hard with every whiny, insecure and definitely 'progressive' poster out there, neither agree with TK (they are probably backing down because of sales potential), or with PA and their aggressive advertising. I know for myself that i want the game, i'm importing the game, and I don't agree with any of them, or you.
