My review of RED, after one listen, if anyone cares.

Honestly, Red seems to be a significant downgrade from Speak Now. The ballads- which she did so well last time- are kind of limp and hookless on this album, which is ironic given the supposed meaning of the album title. The uptempos are really where it's at (besides the weird Fischer Price/Apple ad sounding Stay Stay Stay). It makes sense that the promo singles she released are the most radio-friendly songs on the album. Even with all the collaborators she worked with, the album feels a lot more cohesive than Speak Now, funnily enough. It's possible that the album will grow on me even more but I remember loving Speak Now on first listen, so who knows?

tl;dr: Swift is capable of more + you win this round, Carly Rae Jepsen.

I really love RED. It's ballads maybe weaker, but I think overall it's a stong addition to her catalogue. I love that she tried some new ideas with the album.

Yes both songs are doing really good. And both go for different audiences and different messages. Even tho both gurls ARE competition I feel the songs kinda aren't and both can co-exist without much problem. IMO.
