This is the main UI which shows your most recently played games, the games library UI is different from this.
If it's been shown somewhere, I'd be interested to see.

Yea i am curious how they handle the game library. Right now i am assuming you scroll but we will see.
Scroll?
Glad to have some confirmation on that. Now I just hope it's not handled like the 2013 Bravia's XMB; a separate horizontal bar for each section. This is the main UI which shows your most recently played games, the games library UI is different from this.

Yes, but at least the tiles here are pictures, are lined up horizontally, and are not variable in size.Looks very Metro to me.
Is that PS Home all the way to the right?
No more leaks please. Can't wait to see the UI in full. And as for ads I don't mind if Sony or f2p games does little of it to get dedicated servers
I don't think that's a real screenshot of the UI.
They showed it at Develope behind closed doors developers session.Did they show the game library ui? I am guessing the games section will look similar, especially since you can play them from there.

Maybe it's unfair, but the PS3's ads in the top corner are about the largest extent I could deal with ads. If you want to animate the store icon with some game ads, or populate the store page with game ads, then that makes perfect sense, but I CANNOT tolerate a McDonalds ad running on a loop in the corner of my screen. I really hope Sony is judicious about the use of ads because the 360 has been awful about it.
What bothers me about it is all the wasted space on those huge tiles. If the PS4 uses a similar layout for it's library I can easily see it eventually being annoying scrolling through those tiles to access an old game in a large library. I just want an option for a grid view or at the very least a customizable folder layout to minimize needless scrolling. It's a small petty issue I know, but after 7 years with a PS3 and its annoying vertical scrolling in its different libraries I'll be very disappointed if the PS4 has a similar thing.I'm curious to know since I don't have a Bravia, but minus the hokey flipping animation, what's bad about it?
The tiles on the current metro inspired Xbox dashboard can be pictures and the content tabs usually are lined up all horizontally (eg. browsing games, movies etc)Yes, but at least the tiles here are pictures, are lined up horizontally, and are not variable in size.

As long as there's some effort put into organizing games, I'll be happy. They showed it at Develope behind closed doors developers session.
I just can't wait to download all kinds of sexy themes! I hope that's still possible, in addition to resizing those tiles.
Pics?
I like minimalist, but that looks sort of boring.
Sony's silence tells me ads.
Man sony really cant make a good ui.
Just a terrible audio recording done by Eurogamer at the closed presentation given by Neil Brown, which was cleaned up a lil and posted on YouTube. There are some bits about PS4 that are not known yet if you can listen through without getting nauseous.where did you hear this and what did they say it's like?

Bu bu but but Microsoft shows ad. Surely they will do the same!Doubt it especially now that they charge for online multiplayer.
That brings up another thing I've been thinking about, I want to see that multi touch pad in action with UI. I want to see some gestures in place for some quick task switching and some customizable hot corners to jump to specific sections. So many unanswered questions at this point. There's a multi-touch pad on the controller, scrolling will be liberating.
what's wrong with it?
Reminds me of a bootlegged version of Windows 8.
If they can't develop good uis internally why not just outsource it.

If you can't tell by now, I really want an official UI video so bad. I think at this point I'm more excited about it than the actual launch games. 7 years with a slow XMB that has mostly stayed the same has me so excited about next gen UI.
child, please....
If it's a poor ui, but reminds you of windows 8, does that mean windows 8 is a poor ui and wouldn't that mean xb1 will be a poor ui as it uses windows 8?
If you watch the cheesy ui video with sarah greene, you'll see the going from ui directly to game without seemingly using the ui, that's a double click on the touchpad.
Looks too blue.
Don't like that the square for the game he's playing is blank instead of displaying a picture of the game or something.
And along the top, it just says "FirstName LastName" instead of saying the player's name. How ghetto is that?
Total fail Sony.
I like it but the font is too Microsofty :\
That's interesting. Hadn't heard that. I guess I'm skeptical based on the initial mock ups. I hope they show a little something of it at Gamescom, even if it's just the front end.
That image I really like, but it does pose the scrolling question. I hate the way it's done on the 360 right now, though I suppose that also has something to do with how slow the UI is. Definitely could pose problems if people are going download only.
I assume there will be some kind of "folders" like on Vita and PS3, but maybe some kind of "grid" view too? Something like on the Mac taskbar maybe?
