I beat it in 8 hours! I beat it in 12 hours! I beat it in 9 hours! Took me 9.5 hours! I spent 7 hours! I was about 8.5 hours! I watched someone in youtube beat it in about 5.5 hours!
Omg this game is only 5 hours! How horrible!
Fixed.

You're really contradicting yourself with your posts.
You said Nintendo is a different animal. Why is that? Why does Nintendo get a free pass? Because their games are different? Because their games are catered to the kids (don't even know why this make a difference, just because a game is catered to the kids doesn't mean it gets a free pass to be short or the adults are not going to play them)?
And then you said Resident Evils are long by difficulty, yet the youtube videos posted was played on Normal and all the gaffers that played on Hard reported a 9 to 13 hours playthrough. Hell, I can play any game on easy, breeze it through in a couple of hours, increase the difficulty, play another few hours, then increase the difficulty again play for several more hours and make the game a 20 hours experience.
I don't get why all the games you mentioned get to have a free pass from you but not the Order: 1886.
This sums it all up.
Not saying that gaffers are liars but the one of the two people who beat it in five hours, (the second being a german youtuber who did collect collectibles), had full playthroughs available for public viewing. Which is why they get more attention.I beat it in 8 hours! I beat it in 12 hours! I beat it in 9 hours! Took me 9.5 hours! I spent 7 hours! I was about 8.5 hours! I beat it in about 5.5 hours!

Man, people really have it out for this game. I'm OK with a $60 5-hour experience so long as it's good.

Again, there is trophy data that says it was beaten in 10 as well. And that's just the time from the first trophy popped to the platinum, it very well could have taken more than 10.

The platinum doesn't represent finishing the game though, it represents getting all the other trophies.
Also trophy data is unreliable since we don't know the pattern of the person playing. They could have paused the game for 5 hours in between trophies.

Could get an awful lot of mileage out of this scene. >.>

I'm curious to who literally watched a 5.5 hour long video of a walk through....every minute of it.
Fair enough, but we could look at the unlock times for each. Not sure where that link went.
It's not a problem when there's just so much atmosphere to soak in.I'm curious to who literally watched a 5.5 hour long video of a walk through....every minute of it.

Where does this stupid perception that Sony games are somehow more critically scrutinized than Microsoft or Nintendo games come from?
With the PS4's sales lead surely you're bitching about a vocal minority?
More to the point, the PS4 is unequivocally the more powerful console, it's public and media image is far more favourable than the XB1 and there are a slate of great 2015 exclusives on the way.
Where does the persecution complex come from?
Yeah, I mean I am firmly in the camp that believes it will take me closer to 8+ hours to finish the game than 5, but mining trophy data for determining completion time is a joke.
Here it is: http://psnprofiles.com/ReNeGaDe124 It doesn't factor in the breaks the person could have taken though, so it's useless.

Because...?
It comes from last gen. Microsoft did (and still does, really) put out more consistent 8 out of 10+ titles than Sony. Sony put out a lot of experimental (and some straight-up bad) games. Think Puppeteer (or, as far as bad goes, Twisted Metal or GoW:A).
People are unwilling to accept that, say, GT isn't as as good as Forza anymore (when it used to be better) so you get 'reviewers are being unkind' stuff.
Sony's been better about making stuff with a greater chance of mainstream appeal this gen, though.
People do it, if there was a game someone was going to watch an entire playthrough of then a shorter, heavily cinematic one would probably be a good choice.
Sorry, but this is a shit post if I've ever seen one.
The people that think if a game is like a movie, the developers don't deserve any money and they experience it for free.
But let's all buy call of duty and assassins creed a million more times!
Unfortunately I had to cancel my preorder. There are way too many games coming out this year and I don't have nearly enough money to justify spending 60 on a relatively short SP campaign, although I'm sure it would take me a lot longer that 5 or 6 hours to beat it.
I'll borrow it from a friend and if I really like it, I'll buy it at a lower price to support RAD.
I hope the game sells decently. Its marketing was pretty bad from start to finish but it never deserved to get so much hate.
Question- If you know that the game is only a few hours before purchasing it... Why not just wait a few months for the inevitable price drop (or just get it used a month after it comes out for much less)?
I just took a hard look at the spoiler thread and it seems like the length isn't this games only problem...

Eh he got it in a day, says first one didn't unlock till about 2 hours in. That would put him around 8-9 hours with breaks. It matches to what other gaffers are saying, although it does mean he literally did everything.
He talked about his breaks on gaf did he not? He thinks it took him about 9 hours to beat.

Please don't get all console warriory on me. I'm trying to explain perception ("why do Sony games get worse reviews than MS?") to a guy. The post does not represent how I feel. You are also quoting a work-in-progress post that I made too early - I edited it a bunch since.

I wanted RAD to be the 2nd Naughty Dog :/
Ok, and so these people that watch the 5.5 hour long video of a walk though? Have also played the game? They can vouch for the video being accurate?
I know. I only judge Nd off of Uncharted 1 also.I wanted RAD to be the 2nd Naughty Dog :/

No warring here, but you might want to reconsider your phrasing. Both release shit games and good games and both get criticised. The reality is Sony games don't get worse reviews than MS, and trying to argue a reason for it will just lead you down the wrong path. Sorry for the harshness but if you really do want to avoid warriors that's not the post to do it.
