But it is. That's why we bred them. These animals we breed and slaughter for their meat are basically products the minute they're born. They're not the same as wild animals. They're made and killed by humans. That's not their fucking "purpose".
Pigs on a pigs' farm are considered property correct? Then they were rescued as property, and not to spare their lives. As such, it's normal that they end up being slaughtered as that's the whole reason they're bred and raised in the first place. It's just a bit weird that the meat was given to the firefighters, but not that much.
The firefighters initially said the bangers were "fantastic" but following complaints have since said sorry.
We actually comparing eating pigs to eating people?
Lord help these folk, and serve them a nice pork chop while you're at it. Hunger can make you think crazy things.

1. Yeah so you can just stop breeding them and live off other stuff, ending the hyperconsumptive loop.
2. They're mostly sentient beings. The fact that they're reared for death doesn't change that.
3. We waste an absurd amount of resources rearing them to create a very small amount of food (relatively).
Had the quote as this is one of the funniest posts I've ever seen.
Disgusting
why live off of some inferior foods? I'm trying to eat and get big.
Ms Rivers defended the gift, saying farming is her livelihood and way of life.

Was it pig farms that usually have to have a cesspool lake nearby?3. We waste an absurd amount of resources rearing them to create a very small amount of food (relatively).
Living creatures are property...
Nah. Fuck that. Pigs have emotions, experience love and fear, etc. they're mammals, like you and I. That all may be legally true, but it's gross.
Meanwhile, if the farmer was killed and eaten by his pigs, I can imagine you'd not feel very neutral about that. Is it because we have technology and religion? I tend to think it's emotions, consciousness, and so on, that we value as humans.. At the very least among other animals, Mammals have all of that.

no one knows chiclen like chickens 🐔But it is. That's why we bred them. These animals we breed and slaughter for their meat are basically products the minute they're born. They're not the same as wild animals. They're made and killed by humans.
1. No thanks.
2. I don't care if something is sentient. I care if it's tasty.
3. "Waste" is such a bullshit term. This isn't a post-apocalyptic world yet. I am going to enjoy the golden age of humanity while I can. I am not eating for planetary efficiency. Lol. Also, my two year old son LOVES sausage. A smile on his face is worth a hundred dead pigs!
This is a non issue. That farmer got to take those pigs to market because the firefighters saved his/her livelihood. So, the farmer decided to do something nice in return...
People need to stop twisting this into something it's not.
It is a waste though. It's not bullshit. Raising animals for food is a less efficient form of protein generation than vegetables in terms of carbon emissions and water consumption.3. Reminds me of the episode in H2G2 where the cows at the Restaurant at the end of the Universe literally offer themselves to the diners with specific questions about meat cuts and cooking. But why *those* piglets?! I accept she had a right to slaughter them after their being saved, but why serve / eat those ones in particular? It just feels really weird to me that they'd do that. And I'm honestly not trying to paint either party as monsters. I find their behaviour really strange than sinister.

Teaching our children to like veggies is a big step towards lowering our own personal carbon footprint.
Burning calories painting a picture or player baseball is also a waste. Those people could be farming lettuce.
Any actual pointers? I have reduced red meat, pretty much giving it up to be honestm except for occasions. What have you been eating and did it help trim extra fat?I'm bigger and healthier now that I've stopped eating meat did it about 11 months ago.
Downright macabre.
But I understand.

But I like horse jerky.
I get a huge craving for it whenever I'm reading ASOIAF, oddly enoughHorse meat is awesome, fuck that bullshit law preventing us from eating it in the US regularly.
Sounds like something slave owners would've said at one time about people born in to slavery. But it is. That's why we bred them.
