Just fiddling around with modding the game. Minor spoiler warning of an outfit in the game.

Can't wait for your release! I need the costumes!

I am very tempted to get this. How are the mouse and keyboard controls?

I played a bit with M&KB before Sectus released his mod to get rid of the Hud pop-up that lets you know you're changing from mouse to controller/vise versa.

Seems solid. I can definitely see myself using mouse and keyboard for mercs to see if I'm better than with controller.

I say go for it. Just remember to change the crosshair to just laser dot. This is important.

HOLY SHIT split-screen support?! Big props to Capcom (`_´)ゞ

Now I have to buy this just to support this decision in a PC game.
I'm not even kidding, interest in the game went from "maaaaybe at $5... someday" to 100% sure Day 1 buy.

I might not be aboard for $40, but as soon as it gets near $20 I'll pick it up. Huge fan of Resident Evil 5.

The PC benchmark is strange o_O

The higher my settings the higher my avg FPS...

specs
Intel core i5 750 @ 2.67GHz
4gb RAM
radeon 5850

Is it because I'm using an AMD card? Turning the AA down to lowest, shadows and screen quality to medium. Somehow I get less fps? I turn the AA to the HQ highest setting, max everything, AND turn on vsync. Now I'm getting like 10+ more fps on average. wth?

Oh wow we have exactly the same rig besides the fact my 750 is oc'ed to 3.6GHz and my 5850 has AMD Overdrive slider to the deep end.
Can you tell me how you fare @1080p everything maxed NO AA? Can't dl the demo nor the game for a week...
Anyway, I'd appreciate even knowing how you fare with any kind of settings you want of course

Sure no problem. First run, I forget the rank, it went down to 16 fps at the end of the first benchmark. Thats when it zooms out to show 100+ zombies on screen. Judging from youtube videos, people with much better rigs than me are going down that low as well. Anyways, turning the AA to the lowest setting, shadows medium, screen quality medium (i believe this is post processing? HDR and stuff?) texture quality max, I ended up getting a C ranking.

Maxing everything out? I get an A ranking lol... this is why I'm confused. Getting 55-60 fps most of the time, going down to mid 40's when theres a lot on screen. That being said the end of the first benchmark that I mentioned earlier, still drops to 17 fps.

Thanks, just bought a Steam key for $26!

Proudly debt free. If you need a couple bucks, just ask.
Wonder how long it'll take for nude mods to show up..

Modding required. Although for now, it'll only work in mercenaries modes.

That's very cool mate. Where're you releasing your mods on GAF, or is it still a Work In Progress?

Moddb? RE6's own nexus site?

Also, where can I grab the mod that Spazznid's referring to? (The one that got rid of the Hud pop up when you switch between control methods)

I haven't seen any mention of it being SP or MP anywhere, but No Mercy was SP-only officially in RE5, so that's what I'm basing my assumption on.

While we wait, what are the best art/gameplay/ai mods for RE5 besides character costumes?
The RE5 modding community never became as big as it could be (it was always tiny compared to RE4), primarily because a way to import models was never made possible. The majority of mods are just re-textures.

I think these are the most interesting mods for RE5:
http://z6.invisionfree.com/Resident_Evil_4_PC/index.php?showtopic=14728 - Enables versus modes, 4 player mercs and coop for no mercy. There might be some bugs.
http://z6.invisionfree.com/Resident_Evil_4_PC/index.php?showtopic=13366 - Trainer with a ton of options. Allows you to do character swaps, and just generally mess around with the game. You can definitely make the game crash or cause bugs if you go too crazy with this.
http://z6.invisionfree.com/Resident_Evil_4_PC/index.php?showtopic=16219 - Adds splitscreen support. There are some bugs related to this.
http://z6.invisionfree.com/Resident_Evil_4_PC/index.php?showtopic=11030 - New mercs stage variants. Some of these only work in DX9 mode.
http://z6.invisionfree.com/Resident_Evil_4_PC/index.php?showtopic=11878 - New mercs stages based on story mode stages. Some of these only work in DX9 mode.

Some unfinished mods:
http://z6.invisionfree.com/Resident_Evil_4_PC/index.php?showtopic=13556 - Changing story mode into No Mercy (3-4 times the amount of enemies).
http://z6.invisionfree.com/Resident_Evil_4_PC/index.php?showtopic=15178 - Mercs stages variants designed to be extremely challenging. These probably only work in DX9 mode.

I hope RE6 will get a much more active modding community than RE5.

Sectus, make No Mercy co-op, please. Save us.

It officially supports coop in RE6. So no modding required. I dunno why Capcom didn't clarify this as many people just assumed it would be solo again.

Oh shit you just made my day! Going to beat RE5 for the first time ever then and my brother is coming over for the w/e, yay thanks! Hopefully the bugs are not severe?
edit: seems it is super playable other than 2nd screen might be graphically inferior, great!

edit2:

FUCK the file has been removed and all the torrents for it are fake :(
There's another file but it's for gamepad+keyboard while I want the original re5ssmod.rar 16Kb which supports 2 gamepads :( :(

My favorite mod was the "Super"/True Wesker one. No idea what it was called.

EDIT: Oh man, I'm imagining a mod which takes all the enemy types and puts them together on one map.

Awesome, such an underrated game. Far from perfect and not a good way for RE to go, but based on its own merits it certainly shits all over RE5, I had a blast playing it, the fun factor is through the roof and I did NOT expect that.

That 4 minute trailer on Greenman has me hype as hell. I watched very little video of this and generally kind of avoided all info about it.

Hold on; all I heard was terrible things about 6... Its better than 5? Cause I loved 5.

Is there a better way to implement mods, like through steam or something? I really hate having to back-up files.

There are also people who loved RE5, but hated RE6.

Without having seen how the game actually performs or what its graphics options are, this seems like a great port at a glance. Pretty excited to try this out in co-op.

Pre-order this as well. I'm interested to see what all of the mixed hubub was about last October.
On my phone getting ready for PAX East, but I'll see if I can explain. Keep in mind I haven't played the game in a while, this is all based on pre-patch console release (my first experience with the DLC and patch will be this PC release when I get home), but it should all generally remain true I feel.

Resident Evil 6 does not know what it wants to be, is the simplest way to say it. It has some core flaws in its design (or at least did as two of my bigger complaints were the QTEs and the super-long chapters, which the patch seems to have addressed), and it tries to be everything. I don't want to spoil anything, but it tries its hand at everything from survival-horror, action horror, war scenarios, stealth segments, driving simulation, action-adventure, etc., to varying levels of quality. The games mechanics are also quite a bit different and have a learning curve to them. Most people, myself included, will try to start playing this like RE4 or RE5. At a glance, that's what it looks like, but the game is actually mechanically designed very differently and trying to play it like those game's won't get you far. It takes some time to adjust, but most who get into it will tell you the core combat mechanics are actually brilliant, and I too agree though I can say I bet most won't feel like they are when they start playing. There's a sort of moment where it all just clicks together though, it's hard to explain. I'd recommend playing a few rounds of Mercs before the campaigns. You'll suck, but it helps get you a bit adjusted to the game mechanics.

Outside of that, in the original OP there was much debate on, like, every element and segment of the game (outside of a few that we're agreeably terrible, such as Chris' driving segment, or that Mercs is a good time). Lots of back-and-forth discussion between if this chapter or segment was brilliant or a bust, if this was good or bad. It seemed everyone had a different opinion, and helps push the 'let's throw in everything and see what sticks,' mentality the game sort of has.

For me personally, I don't think RE6 is a balanced game by any means, but I do find it a lot of fun, especially in co-op. I think it's a great time with a friend, in big part due to the unpredictable nature of the game. I also felt that, compared to RE5, this game had more highs and lows, but there's something fun about rapidly switching between
sliding down water slides with giant zombie sharks, exploring RE Revelations-inspired ships and then sudden Ace Combat simulator, to then running around stealth-style in a Mirror's Edge-like environment near-naked.

I personally like it more than RE5, both as a single-player and co-op game, but it is definitely a lot more unbalanced. Again, feel the highs of RE6 are much better than the highs of RE5, but the lows are also lower. It also takes a bit longer to learn and get into.

All the mods work in coop as long as both players have the same mods.

And unfortunately, no, there is no mod manager, so it has to be done manually.

And I presume it works the same way when modding character costumes in RE6? .arc File replacements as well? I'm intrigued to know how you replaced her outfit with that pretty little number.

Just curious, thanks in advance.
