Who cares about the IP if it's no longer the series people cared about in the first place?
That's the problem people have with it.
I just wish it wasn't named Ridge Racer.
It might not be a Ridge Racer game of old, but if it is good then I will still buy it.

hahaha so trueI know, it sounds like its doing a disservice to this game.
Because it isn't Ridge Racer.

By the way, if you're surprised about the score, watch this: http://youtu.be/LZpPTUCpt8E
Ridge Racer Unbouded is to Arcade Racing - as Batman Arkham Asylum is to Comic Book Game Adaptations.
Embargo was lifted today, but seems like most sites got the game late and are taking their time with it.It seems the reviews for Ridge Racer Unbounded are starting to come out. I think this first one may be an exclusive though, but the game was originally supposed to come out today so perhaps this was the embargo date.
Wat?

Wow, Flatout 1/2/U Bugbear made this. I'm in day one on Steam as long as the price is reasonable.
I really think the Vita fiasco is going to hurt sales of this...

It's not called Ridge Racer 8. The different subtitle is a tip-off that it's not exactly like other games in the series.
Sounds like a good game but I agree about the title.
Relax, kids. I'm just sayin'
The difference between this and the last two Ridge Racer games is that it appears some effort went into this one.
If Namco is truly the issue, and Bug Bear is self-publishing on Steam, hopefully that means a demo is at least available on PC day 1.

So I'm guessing since noone has responded, nobody knows how the user generated track sharing works on 360.

I don't really care to race other people online. But a robust selection of insane user tracks to race against the computer racers seems really fun too.i'd imagine its like trials or halo - ie, you can download from others. i wouldnt worry much about that.
i doubt public matchmaking has custom tracks though
EDGE said:It helps that the framerate is so smooth, never stuttering despite the constant presence of debris.
Ridge Racer fans’ first reaction may be to cry blasphemy at the rough, rugged world of Unbounded, but this new direction is refreshing and vital to a licence that hasn’t been a legitimate contender since its glory days.
PC version is still not up for preorder on any DD services, far as I can see...
This this this. You put this into words that I could not. It might be a great game, but the name implies it's something it's not I think. My biggest concern is that if this does really well, it'll kill off the mainline Ridge Racer games. I'm sure there will be plenty of people who are fine with that, but it's one of my favorite series. The last couple haven't been as good, but V, 7, and Ridge Racers 2 PSP are all fantastic.Contender to what? Sales contender? Other arcade racers? Who gives a shit? RR7 was a fantastic arcade racer. RRU may in fact be a good, even a great game, but it's not RR, there's no new direction for the series. This is a Bugbear racer with an unrelated title slapped on top of it, they haven't really made use of the license at all.
And the best thing is, us europeans only have to wait three more days for the game.
I heard similar but decided to look on a few other sites. Namco = retarded.Supposedly it's going to be day 1 on Steam, but isn't going to have any pre-order period.
Yes, 30fps is so smooth, especially in racing games~
As a Ridge Racer fan, that excerpt in the OP annoyed me.

I do look forward to trying out a PC demo of this game though. I love Burnout, and this looks a lot like it, mixed with some Split Second .
